I've been wondering for a long time... Why did Pokémon GO use Gen 1 pokéymons only?

I'm guessing they want to release the game to all countries first before releasing Gen 2. Right now there are still a few countries that don't have legit access to Pokemon Go and it would be unfair to release Gen 2 prior to that.

Has anybody been playing Pokémon Sun or Moon? And what do you think about it?
As far as I'm concerned, I'm having a blast with Moon. Except at the beginning as it took me over 3 hours to get a female Popplio.

Gen 2 is finally here along with the gender system. I'm guessing we'll be able to breed Pokemon?

Also, they finally added more trainer customization options, although they're mostly clothing options. Wonder if they'll add new hairstyles.

I've been on Platinum and I'm not planning to move on to any newer version/game. But whatever.
I'm just... Trying to create and prepare an all-round team for the Battle Frontier. Mostly focused on "rampaging" in the Tower and the Castle.

Shiny Magikarps can be found too with the Water Event *_*Free Magikarp hat option in the game now.

I haven't played Nobunaga's Ambition at all before playing Pokémon Conquest. I have heard the name though.

I'm liking the changes made to Pokemon GO gyms so far.
*Gyms are now Pokestop hybrids. When tapping on a gym, select the Pokestop button in the bottom corner to access the Pokestop portion. Gym badges and Raid Passes only drop from Gym Pokestops.
*Instead of leveling up a gym's prestige to increase Pokemon slots, all gyms now have 6 Pokemon slots. Prestige system is replaced with a motivation system. Instead of decreasing a gym's prestige to take it over, you now have to lower the motivation meter of each Pokemon assigned to the gym to take it over. Motivation meters can be replenished by visiting the gym to feed the Pokemon berries. You can choose to feed any berry to the Pokemon (not just limited to Razz Berries).
*Raids take place in gyms and are free-for-all for all teams. Players can catch raid Pokemon when defeated. However, you need a Raid Pass to participate in a raid and you can only get 1 free Raid Pass from gyms per day. More can be acquired through the cash shop.
And thanks to the recent solstice event, I evolved my Cyndaquil to Typholsion and got my Charmander to Charmeleon. Handful of candies short to evolve my Seel, though. :<
