I just came back after a "little" break and I was trying to search for the difference between Crescentia and SM, since I almost only see topics about SM. I thought Crescentia was more offensive while SM was an healer but after reading some topics I got confused.

Do both of them do well soloing? If not, which one does better without parties?

Do the guides we have here in forum nice to follow while playing Noel?

This is because I made a Noel back when they came out but didn't really leveled it but I was thinking on going Crescentia since I don't do well with healer classes, but now I see lots of people only talking about SM that made me confused if Crescentia isn't that good at all :/

I'm sorry if this was already answered, but I couldn't see any answered that cleared me >.< Thank you in advance!

They are both highly useful and wonderful in their own ways! They both greatly help parties, crec through debuffs and SM through buffs, though you are correct in that crec are damage based and SM have heals. They can also both AoE quite nicely, and soloing through leveling isn't hard.

I'm more familiar with SM (I have one at level 50) - I personally wanted it to be support, so I left DPS skills at 1 (other than taking up max awakening and immunity, since it does a heal burst as well) and maxed links/leveled some of the heals. Many people recommend leveling as DPS then switching builds at 50 with the free skill reset skill, but since I'd rather hang onto mine just in case I need to change build later, I leveled with weak DPS. In raids so far, my DPS has been horribly low (I spam some dps skills to try to crit to buff my links, though I heal as needed as well), below even healing threat.. but I'm also way lesser geared than the others in the raids I've gone to. However, even SMs I've seen with leveled DPS skills tend to be at the lower rung of threat, unless they're in form (then they sorta keep up to DPS classes).

As for crec, I've just partied with one regularly - I actually did dungeons as a SM with my friend's crec.. duoing is super fun. <3 They have different types of builds, too, so hopefully someone will weigh in on the differences. There are several DoTs they can pick up, but I think the really shining point of them is their two options of debuffs - either make the target take 15% more damage, or do 15% less damage. Being able to have someone switch that up as needed is quite helpful, and has allowed weaker parties take down raids with ease. Also, when transformed, they can buff the party's defense. I have seen my friend do some pretty impressive tanking in a pinch, too~ Threat-wise, he at least keeps up with dedicated DPS (I feel like he matches threat really well with my rogue, when we were similarly geared), though I don't know how this holds up in general with the class.

As for the guides, they're fairly nice? I know I read through all of the topics relating to SM when deciding how to build mine, and they were pretty helpful. I haven't raided enough on mine yet to really get a feel for how I like my build. There are a couple crec topics out there, though you could just ask on what's unclear and I'm sure someone will help you out.

My doubt here was if SM would be good as Cres (since it is more healer) in lvling, colo, raids etc...When I created my Noel my focus was for Cres but now I read something about bugs? or something that has happened in the race and I'm afraid that Cres isn't that good anymore and I should go SM instead. If Cres are still good maybe I will keep going as I thought before, since I prefer that instead of buffs and healing in party, it's rare when I use a support chara in games ^^'' Thanks for your answer :) If someone could talk about cres as a main would be nice too!

Well, self-heal can be nice when leveling? It shouldn't be too bad either way. In raids, SM will be ranged, whereas crec has to option of melee or ranged.. ranged tends to survive easier. I don't know which bugs you're talking about, but, both classes are actively played and desired in raids~

The bugs could be probably just misreading :P But after seeing so many people talking about SM I got instered in them and maybe that's what I'm going to try, anyway I can always try both after level 50 (if I have the patiente). I don't know if it's asking too much but, what do you think of this build? http://ro2base.com/b...0.1.8/0.0.0.0.0 (I hope the link it's right) I made it by checking other builds and reading people talking about each skill. There are some points left that I don't know in which skill to put them, if you could give your opinion I would appreciate~

I love my crescentia so much <3. Melee and ranged, tiny tanks and deal massive dps if you have Lvl 4 pets. And I feel crescentias survive much much much better than the ranged dps do.

(Though I have never played an SM before, but I like playing dps instead of support :D)

Well, I wouldn't say I'm the most knowledgeable.. but..

* I think people either tend to go for Mental Breakdown or Soul Extortion, but not both. The damage/AoE ability is pretty much the same, with the main difference being whether you can move while using it or not. Because I liked to mob, Soul Extortion's slow was pretty useless to me - after hitting things with Death Spell, they'd be on me before Soul Extortion cast. With Mental Breakdown, I could use it to pull several mobs to me, use Death Spell to debuff all, then have the option to kite AoE (run a circle around the group while spamming MB - hits all), or just stand and AoE. In Colo, I've had somewhat good luck in KSing/killing low HP targets by chasing with MB spam. Your mileage may vary.

* If you're taking Awakening, you should definitely take Immunity, too. The DPS is awesome, and the healing wave is great for supporting melee. I didn't use it at all when leveling, but it's my favorite in dungeons/raids. Do be aware that the animation might lag you a little.. but even still, it's worth it to use.

* I personally really like SoulLink: Revive. When duoing with a crec, I wouldn't have to heal for the most part when mobbing - since each individual mob has a chance to crit, when I'm using Death Spell + Mental Breakdown spam, I'm generating a ton of additional healing. In raids, if the adds go for the ranged group, I could see it being useful for spreading heals. The damage reduction and increased healing is quite nice, too.

Otherwise, maybe someone else will weigh in. My SM is far from my main. :p_swt:

I haven't played either but I've done lots of raids with other sm and crec. In late game raids crec are more wanted in raids due to being able to switch between blindness (for bosses that do lots of damage) and raw tilt (for bosses with enrage timers), as well as having massive dps especially with lv 4 pets such as mermaid. Especially when raiding chaos, I often see crec way ahead of the other dps in the threat meter. Although in chaos because of the way equipment drops works, the ideal raid would be something like 2 tanks (different classes), 1 wiz, 1 ranger, 1 rogue or sin, 1 crec,1sm, 1 sorc and 2 priests.

I checked your build and imo the 10% increase in critical dmg(transpersonel) is not that good its better to put it at lvl1 and use it on other skills. I have a SM with me pure dps build and I can tell you that its *fun and squishy* my main party skills are revive, conc, balance screw the rest dont forget to max your SE if your going pvp.

But if you're going for party support, people will love you for 10% boost to criticals - thief classes hit what, 60% crit? Plus if you have battle tactics tanks..

It really comes to self preferences if you find it usefull then go max it, I've been with some party and I tend to stick beside sexy priest all the time all they want is buff/max dmg output and revive.
