Hello everyone!! I tried this game out about a year and a half ago but quit because of low player population. Anyway, I decided to return and give it a try once more since I recently found out the servers were combined. I have looked at the class forum and I don't really see any info on the Defiler class. What is the reason for this? Is the defiler class once that is under utilized? If so, why? Thank you all for your help! :heh:

Edit--Disregardt his post, for some reason I did not see the Defiler guide that is on here. I however would like to know if this is a class that is over saturated or under utilized.

hello.

defiler is kind of in balance at the moment. there never really was a saturation or lack of defis (at least not that i've experienced).

this is mainly because defilers are powerful when cashed out completely (theres at least a handful of them at end game) but if poorly geared or if you lack the experience, there arent many defilers that last at end game without good gear. Interesting fact is that most defilers playing today are the same defilers from the last 4+ years.

An inexperienced player will be a bad defiler and die almost all the time. An experienced player can be a good defiler and sneak in kills and tide turning Terms of Service without having to max out gear (i think good gear at +15 should suffice).

Typically not a class to start learning the game with as the lack of defense, hp and reliable heals makes even pve hard.

Thank you guys for the responses. Typically in mmos I tend to play light armor classes such as archers and sins. I played Perfect World International for 3+yrs as well as other mmos. Guild Wars 2, Neverwinter, Vindictus, Forsaken World, Shaiya, etc etc. I have recently discovered that I enjoy caster classes as well as tank classes so I will be experimenting with those classes. I am however open to almost any suggestion on which class to play to just "get a feel for the game''. I absolutely love shield classes, which is something I never thought I'd say after playing spike crit/dps classes.

I am a little bit excited to return to this game because my real life friend and I are always saying to each other "man I really liked Requiem, too bad there wasnt anyone around." Am I correct in assuming that since there is only one server the players are more condensed? When my friend and I tried this game back in 2012 we went to a city and it was huge( I dont remember the name), and there was NOBODY around. Not one other person besides ourselves. We eventually decided to run around and see if there was anyone "out in the wild". After running all over the place for a long period of time, we finally came across four other players but they didnt speak english...have things changed?

the player base is pretty much determined by the events that are on. No event = bare bones population. Xmas or Free Gift event = Population overload.

However, it is true that early levels, you wont find that many players. Most people hang around at end game and then theres a decent mid level population (lvl 60+)

.

Population is also tied to game hour as simply, most people playing are in US or EU. If you live in the Asia Pacific Region, you will encounter a decent amount of Philippine and Korean players, but language barrier will make interactions hard.

sins and sr's arent bad to start off with. they let you explore the game a bit more freely. Protector and Commander, i dont recommend as your first choice. They are quite difficult to support without the right gear/investment. Mystic and Tempest allow you to level up fairly quickly and easily so i'd recommend them until you get to 65 or so and then you can try a different class.
