Hello, everyone.

We want to gather feedback on each class to better balancing.

This thread will be about the Wizard class. If you've played Wizard and have some constructive feedback to give to help improve the class, use this thread as that platform.

To make things easier to read, please use the following form:

Character:

Feedback Type(Example: Skill/Stats/Suggestion)

Skill (If Applicable):

Feedback:

We appreciate all feedback given, and will use it when discussing changes to the studio.

Also, if you think another category in the form is required, let me know and I'll change it up!

Note: I haven't been able to play my wizard for a while, but I tested most of the skills while skill reset scrolls were still readily available. If these have been fixed since then, then good. If not, here's what I know:

Character: Koiidragon

Feedback TypeSkill

Skill (If Applicable): Levitation

Feedback: Does not apply increased movement speed as intended (Buff icon is still there, but if you mouse over, it says +0% movement speed). (have not tested status after 2/26 patch, lack of skill reset scrolls and whatnot.)

Fixed:

Feedback TypeSkill

Skill (If Applicable): Flame Explosion

Feedback: According to what I've read on forums, it loses its stun effect from skill levels 6 to 10. As this was one of the "master skills" that was expanded, it might be nice to give it some attention. Stun is applied as intended (tested at 10/10)

Feedback TypeSkill

Skill (If Applicable): Pyromaniac

Feedback: The skill currently only increases "Haste". This was fine pre-AOV, but since casting is now tied to "Cast Speed", haste is useless for magic classes (unless you want to be an extra strong wizard who also melees as extra dps). As this was one of the "master skills" that was expanded, it might be nice to give it some attention. Appears to apply cast speed as intended (doesnt update on the char screen instantly, must mouse over cast speed number to notice the change in percentage)

Feedback TypeSkill

Skill (If Applicable): Ymir Child

Feedback: This increases haste right? Once again, we don't need haste we need cast speed. Appears to apply cast speed as intended (doesnt update on the char screen instantly, must mouse over cast speed number to notice the change in percentage). Acceleration is a misleading word.

Feedback TypeStats

Feedback: For wizards, Int is supposed to give 3 Magic Attack. It is currently only giving 2 Magic Attack.

Feedback Type: Skill
Skill (If Applicable): Firestarter
Feedback: I'm well aware that you guys have changed the calculation for Magic Damage but honestly. The only thing that Firestarter does is stick a paltry DoT on the enemy; I'm ML20 and it does like 300 dmg per tick at max lol. You'll find the same issue across all classes with DoTs. If it was intended just tell us, seriously, don't leave us hanging.

Feedback TypeSkill
Skill (If Applicable): Wind Emblem
Feedback: Gives Haste. Caster classes don't need haste unless we want to bash heads in with a stick. Change it to cast speed or vigor.

Also please look into the INT*3 for Magic Power '_' caster classes are horrid dps now compared to phys. attk dps.

Character: FreyjaWolfheim

Feedback Type: Stats

Feedback: The biggest issue right now with wizard is not only their poor damage output but their SP consumption rate. the new Fire Emblem even when it made the dps of a wizard actually better, it came with a disgusting SP cost increase, obviusly sp per wisdom was also increased but at the rate that every mage casts skills the SP is consumed way too fast. Reduce the sp cost of most skills to an actually bearable amount

  1. Fire Bolt lvl 5 : 20 SP down from 32  ( 120 less SP after consumed 10 casts)
  2. Fire bolt lvl 10: 50 SP down from 82 ( 320 less SP consumed after 10 casts)
  3. Fire Ball lvl 3: 30 SP down from 62 ( 320 less SP consumed after 10 casts)
  4. Fire Ball lvl 6 : 60 SP down from 133 (730 less SP consumed after 10 casts)
  5. Fire Explosion lvl 5: 50 SP down from 115 (650 less SP consumed after 10 casts)
  6. Fire Explosion lvl 10: 80 SP down from 190 ( 1100 less SP consumed after 10 casts)
  7. Meteor Storm lvl 3: 35 SP down from 85 (500 less SP consumed after 10 casts)
  8. Meteor Storm lvl 6: 75 SP down from 184 ( 1090 less SP consumed after 10 casts)

Feedback Type: Skill

Skill: Pyromaniac

Feedback: god how i hate this passive. its just plain awfull wasted points no matter what, it not only useless ( 100 stacks for 10%~20% haste was awfull even pre AoV you get more damage just by spamming flame explosion once it was up than for holding charges). either increase the amount to something that is actually worth my points (30%~50% cast speed) or give change it to critical strike chance instead that at least sounds more like a pyromaniac(more powerfull flames :U).

Will fill out more properly later, since right now my Wiz is a low level, but I can only shoot 3-4 Firebolts before I am out of SP and that is with using potions.

Granted this might change at a higher level, so I'll edit my post if that happens. It is PAINFUL leveling right now though.

Character: Arcanaeum

Feedback Type: Skill

Skill (If Applicable): Flame Explosion + Pyromaniac

Feedback: As everyone know, Flame Explosion is the fierce ultimate for Wizards, doing a high ammount of damage pretty easily and giving a nice stun. Since AoV the skill doesn't stun or it even stuns by a random chance. Is this intended?. Also, why not let the Flame Explosion be casted without dependance of Pyromaniac? Why not give it a cooldown and some extra damage from Pyromaniac?.
Let's say, Flame Explosion with the actual scheme does 1000% damage, Why not give it 500% damage and give it like extra 5% damage per Pyromaniac point? That way, at 100% Pyro it would still do 1000% but it would give us the possibility to use it more often and as a emergency resource along with Teleport for escaping purposes during pvp.

EDIT: I suck at maths.

This is my priority problem right now. We are left behind (well except for knights) because of this. Everybody got there "specialty" stats except for wizzies. We couldnt tank, cast time is a b*tch, most dps classes (even melee) are better dps than us. It's a hard knock life for all wizards atm.

Feedback TypeSkill

Skill (If Applicable): All offensive skills that proc buffs (Fire Bolt, and I believe Sorcerers have their Cold Bolt/Lightning Bolt combos but I haven't played them enough)

Feedback: As it is, Fire Emblem and Fireball procs from Fire Bolt only appear once the Fire Bolt reaches its target. Since there is travel distance, there is often awkward timing between casting a skill and a proc appearing during the cast, losing out on that precious second the proc is active. This probably adds up significantly over time. It would be nice if the procs are activated right after Fire Bolt is cast, so players can use them to the fullest.

[...]most dps classes (even melee) are better dps than us.

Interestingly enough, I've seen a Wizard at the top of the DPS threat post-AoV. I believe this was before Dayr gear got buffed though.

Haven't tried comparing with some other classes but it would never happen with on par equipments. I have seen a few friends with inferior equipments be a lot more efficient than my wizard in terms of the whole PVE efficiency  (AOE, survivability and boss 1v1 ). Warriors are much better DPS (considering they are tanks with huge hp and def, same goes with sins and rouges), Rangers (they also have range, most skills, if not all, doesnt have cast time, superior damage output and very high dodge rate compared to wizzies), ofcourse OP bears (they have everything).

Your screenshot dates are from before the Dayr gear buff, which gave a large boost in attack to Str classes but little in magic power for Int classes. I never had a chance to compare though, since Chaos and raids died out as a result of the change.

By the way, want to inherit yet another RO2 account-?/shot

I actually tried to compare my little bro's Assassin with my Wizard in response, both with ML1 Dayr gear. But the scarecrows in the PvP arena have this supernatural tendency to shave off quite a lot of HP to the point of death while we're hitting them, and we can't really use heal pots for threat tests. so until we can borrow a Priest...

Either 2/26 patch ninja applied fixes to cast speed, or I wasn't too careful with my testing (much more likely). Flame Explosion works now. Anyways, updated the earlier post.

+1 on this...

the dev team even tried pvping recently? you will never achieve full gauge to use flame explosion with all the hits miss and high dmg taken...the battle is over by the time u get 1/2 a gauge..big waste of wizard's ultimate

It would be very nice to have an animation when the skill is in effect. I imagine the character still, with their arms shaping a cross, and moving quickly, slightly distanced from the floor.  It is a bit strange to have a skill called "levitation" and to see later on that the wizard is not actually floating in the air.

:heh: I'm just wondering why are seemingly balance or bug feedback not posted in the balance or bugs section.

Even the form used is correct for balance/bug posts XD

I feel that the hitrate is a very big problem for wizards now.

Do you all find feel that too?

I guess its not as apparent when dealing with PVE, but in PVP it is very sad.. :pif:

If that can be fixed, wizards can be quite formidable in PVP~^__^

Just read VCR report and well, o.o Stun/Knockdown on Meteor Storm scares me a lot. That's like a spammable Wild Impact, Battle Leap, Judex, etc.

Can we discuss this more? If you've glanced at Priest topic lately, their Judex skill is causing a lot of debate. What trade-offs should be made if included? Are stun/knockdowns the right status to inflict? Is it really necessary?

LOL this is gonna be hilarious if every hit of a MS has a chance of stun. Maybe add diminishing returns to the status effect?

I like Natia's suggestion of implementing Storm Gust (pls pls pls ;_;), it would give wizards more incentive to do other builds than the standard go-straight-down-fire-tree build.

I would love Storm Gust too xD but considering how long it took for my BM to get reworked, I'm not holding my breath. I could see Storm Gust inflicting Slow with a low chance of Freeze, which is slightly less broken than Stun/Knockdown (only slightly). Maybe do something like 10 skill points to max and Slow effect comes in at level 5 and Freeze effect at level 10. This is to hopefully make it so only dedicated Water builds can use it to its full potential.

Diving into the Water skill pool a bit more (hah.), I was thinking of maybe reintroducing the old Flame Explosion as a new Water Ball skill would be fun. It always looked a lot like the RO1 Water Ball animation to me anyways, just needs to be coloured blue. Come to think of it, if you take the Inferno animation and made it blue, it would look a bit like a wave effect too...Waterbending Wizards for the win.

I dont know how I feel about a stun for an AoE skill like MS for two reasons. First being its spammable and allows for no actually dueling or anything just stun spamming...sounds familiar. Second is it locks you in a cast this is basically Icewall without being invincible so all you do is make it easier for people to hit you (eventually).

RIght now, many other class's AOEs can outdo the Wizards in terms of speed and damage (LOV, Arrowshower, Magnus Exorcimus, .

SInce wizards are going down the AOE path, to excel better at the niche, wiz AOE ought to be improved.

-Maybe wider AOEs with significantly more damage than other class's AOEs will be a good start.

-AOE give status ailments to mobs, like bleed or frozen or stun.

-Wizards have no stun/knockdown abilities, this a possible venue to give wizards this ability.

A few months ago, I talked about the inbalance of both Wizard and Sorcerer to get a damage boost based on a certain state / condition / effect of enemies, namingly the additional shock damage against frozen targets. No other class had such a bonus. Back then, I referred to Dragon Age 2 and asked for EVERY class to get such a specialty. Funnily enough, some time later, most classes get at least a bonus against knocked-down enemies. But now, Wizards are complaining that they don't have knockdown, just the normal 'freeze' special
