Please make some histograms after all data has been collected.  This is actually quite interesting.

Suppose: out of 100 total answers you have

two people answered 1 (so 2%)

one person answered 2 (so 1%)

seven  people answered 8 (so 7%)

ninety people answered 91 (so 90%)

So how are you going to round it up?

Emm....So in my case will round using 50%=0.5, round(50%)=round(0.5)= 1?   Then round(51%) will be also 1? and round(1%) is 0? strange.....

i'd say in your added scenario, the two answering 1 would win.  similar to blackjack you can still win if you are at or under 21; the moment you go over 21 you are out regardless of how close you were.

well in neko's scenario you have everyone 1% off; who wins then?

• A valid answer is an integer percentage in the range 0-100.
• Valid submitted answers are assigned a score equal to the absolute value of the difference between the percentage of people who submitted that answer--rounded to the nearest whole number--and the value of the answer itself.
• A winning answer is a valid answer with the minimum score.

I take back what I said before about rounding. There will be no rounding. If two answers are exactly the same amount apart, they will both be correct and the pools from both will be combined.

Unfortunately I've been a little busy with school this week and the new Conundrum slipped my mind until about fifteen minutes ago, which just isn't enough time for me to come up with and thoroughly test a new puzzle!

 

So, for this week, I'm going to let you all decide what the correct answer is... Sort of. You see, it will be a sort of paradox: there will be no correct answer until people have guessed the correct answer. Kind of strange, isn't it?

 

Anyway, sorry about this week... and may the odds be ever in your favor.

 

What percentage of the answers to this week's Conundrum will be correct? Round to the nearest whole number.
