Full VIT + PvP dmg decrease hone = win. I also use T2 gloves and shoes for my SM with CLS def runes.

Nothing is going to save you from a one shot, I'm sorry.
But to try to make yourself a little more survivable I mix T2 with a CLS (Defense) rune for my gloves and shoes.
I recently completed my Cazar set and have noticed a huge boost in my survivability after getting all 5 parts.

I probably should've mentioned, my post was just a suggestion for increasing the "survivability" of an SM, not a method to prevent getting one shotted. My main is a tank (warrior) with 90% defense and 25% pvp dmg reduction and I still get one shotted lol. I have a decent armor rune too.

at the very least id like to survive getting 1 shotted by Sins from hide
Monk Asuras
Warriors Rage strike ill probably never survive, and they are mildly kiteable unless you get terrible delay

You can try PvP-Def hones as mentioned above, but I doubt that this will protect you against that.
The reason is that thanks to a totally broken hide, assassins can and will replace all their armor parts with Colo gear. The 5 Jehoon attack runes will net in a huge damage advantage... and who cares about the rest?

Unlike an assassin's cross impact, a warrior has to build up rage points first to hit you with a rage strike. The best and probably only chance to stop a warrior from one-shotting is to prevent him from getting these points.
But in regard of balance: As soon as a Soulmaker can't be one-shotted anymore, they'll become invincible. Or what's your current cure maximum? And what's the amount of damage healed per Restore? The VCR system hasn't lead to a nerf for the Jehoon runes, but maybe upcoming gear will 'fix' that issue for you..

how does that work anyway
if i got 30% pvp def and he got 50% att
will they just subtract
or would i take the 30% off his total damage
ex.
is it 100k x 1.2 = 120k
100k x 1.5 = 150k *.7 = 105k
----
14k-15k cure
i dont mind it being scaled down
if that would mean being able to counter play Sins/Monks

yeah DMG reduction buff/mechanics directly subtracts/takes out % from the FInal DMG
im pretty sure it works on DoTs too... just like the buff of Monks
and regarding the one shots... i think monk cant one shot SMs with 50k HP and 70% (8900ish def)... or 60%def + 2parts immortals with 20% CLS dmg redcution
still a crit from ragestrike can take out 80-100k.... or a geared Sin on Ymir still hits you about 50k-80k CI/Grimtooth (pfft)

So no matter what the gear or hones, 1-shot still is inevitable?
Basically, yes, such is the state of the game, good luck rerolling Monk or Beastmaster.
