Welcome to the Ralis Conundrum!

Every Wednesday, at some varying point of the day, I'll be posting some sort of weekly challenge for you to figure out. Each week brings a new puzzle: it may be a math problem, a riddle or something else entirely. Whatever it may be, you'll have to use a little (or a lot of) brain power to figure it out. These puzzles may require knowledge outside of Ragnarok! Anyone is capable of finding the answer, but I cannot guarantee you will always know what to do if you have little to no understanding of Ragnarok, computers, math, science, etc.

The competition is open to both servers! Chaos Renewal and Classic Loki players may both enter their answers. It may help you to know, then, that the answer to each challenge will be something that can be found by players of both servers.

Correct answers may win a prize at the end of the week. However, only a certain number of prizes can be given out and all correct answers are entered into the prize pool. Please do not try and use multiple accounts to get better odds! We check account connections. If you're caught doing this, you will be automatically disqualified from present and future competitions... Including OTHER events on the forums as well.

Correct answers that are not chosen for the weekly prize will gain points depending on how many people get the correct answer! When you've saved up 20 points (points will be kept track in the 3rd post of each thread), you can PM me any time during the week to trade your points in for the current week's prize. You may only trade in points once a week for a single prize, so keep that in mind if you're trying to save up for a "better" prize. Winners of the weekly prize may PM me by the end of the week to opt out of the weekly prize, instead receiving the amount of points awarded as a participation prize for that week, up to a maximum of 20.

Please keep in mind that the theme for each week is not always a factor in figuring out the puzzle. This does not mean that it will never have an impact, but rather that you should not assume that you must travel to a location or that the answer must fit the theme given in that week's conundrum.

Please do not post or PM your answers. Use the link below the challenge to submit answers!

You may freely adjust your entry until each week's deadline.

I don't consider search engines cheating. You will never find the answer directly, but always use your resources!

Please be cautious when asking questions about the puzzle of the week on the forums as they could end up being hints for others. You are always welcome to PM me with any questions you may have.

Week 19: Christmas Conundrum [ 1/7 - 1/13 ]

APmwIPg.png

It's been awhile! Sorry for the hiatus (and for the lateness of this conundrum). The holidays were a busy time for me at work, and I've also been taking a bit of a break from RO recently. Now that a new term of school has started, it seems like it's time for another round of conundrums!

Speaking of busy holidays... Do you know who else had a busy holiday? That's right, our favorite Ragnarok family... The Brandos!

Mr. and Mrs. Brando sat down with their three children on Christmas to enjoy a nice home-cooked dinner together. Each of them sat in a particular place at the table and each of them had a favorite item from the menu. Your job is to figure out who sat where and who liked what using these clues:

1. The person to the left of Cherice loved either the ham or beef.
2. Brando Jr. sat between Mr. and Mrs. Brando.
3. The person to the right of Cherice loved the roast beef.
4. Mrs. Brando made the mashed potatoes and pecan pie.
5. Cherice sat to the left of one of her brothers.
6. Mr. Brando cooked the ham and dinner rolls.
7. The person that loves pecan pie sat to the left of Kipp.
8. No one cooked their favorite dish.
9. The person to the left of Mrs. Brando loved the dinner rolls.

Who sat to the left of Mr. Brando and what was their favorite menu item?

This week's prize (back by popular demand):

Gangster Scarf

The competition ends Tuesday, January 13th at 11:59 PM PST! Good luck!

Week 18: The Road So Far [ 12/17 - 12/23 ]

SearchTheRoadSoFar_zpsc3000883.png

In the above puzzle, all words are three or more letters long and no word is used more than once.

What is the answer to the question?

Last week's prize:

BMx3_zpsdb689546.png

10x Battle Manual x3

PoringDivider.png

SmokieIdea_zps9afed806.pngThe SolutionSmokieConfused_zps942a489a.png

The answer is Hatii or Garm (I accepted both).

All of the words that were three or more letters in the titles of past puzzles (as well as this week's title) were included in the word search.

RC18Solved_zpsda465abd.png

Once all the words have been found, read the missing letters in order from the top left corner to the bottom right corner. They spell out the question:

What MVP is on Lutie Field?

The answer is Hatii or Garm (depending on which name you're familiar with... It's gone by both).

There were 36 correct answers this week, and the five winners are:

Ripples, bearr bearr, renouille, MatsuTana and holycatz312!

Congratulations!

Everyone else that answered correctly but did not get selected for the weekly prize have earned 3 points this week!

Your prize will (eventually) be mailed to or in the inventory of the character you listed on the answer page. If you would like to opt to not receive this week's prize and instead receive points equal to the participation prize, please PM me before the end of the week.

Please note: the two-week guarantee thing wasn't working too well as Oda has a lot of other responsibilities that come before getting prizes out. I will try to post in the current week's thread what prizes have been given out, but please be aware that you will get your prizes eventually, it just might take a few weeks. If I've posted that prizes for the week you won have been given out and you don't have yours, then THAT would be the time to PM Oda or I. Sorry about the inconvenience!

When you said "their favourite menu item", did you mean everyone's favourite or just the person who sat left to Mr. Brando?

The form on the answer page has two spots to answer... I want the name of the person directly to the left of Mr. Brando and that person's favorite item from the dinner in separate fields.

Is this a circular table?

Not sure it matters.  Even with a square or rectangular table, the notion of to the left or right is still the next person clockwise or counterclockwise, respectively, about the table's perimeter.

I suppose they could sit in a straight line on one side of the table, but I would think that would make passing dishes and socializing at a family meal rather awkward.

Yea, I was thinking that they might be sitting in a straight line, but I guess you're right. I'll just assume otherwise. :P

I thought about including the entire family, but that would have gotten really convoluted.

Anyways, whether the table is circular or rectangular, everyone is going to have someone on their left... Whether they're around a corner or not. Just assume it's circular if that helps you.

This is not The Last Supper where everyone is on one side of the table. :D

Yes, and it's too bad that it isn't a costume, because enchantable costumes have taken over the appearance role for lower headgear.
