This week is a little special, for the final preparations for the launching of Thor server and the migration of pRO opt-in accounts we have members of the kRO development team visiting us from headquarters in Korea. Even more special, we will be having the kRO development team joining us on this Friday's liveshow!

 

We'll be asking them questions like how they got into the industry, their favorites games but we also wanted to ask them some questions from the community! For the purposes of translation we'll get the best questions  posted here and work with the interpreter to get the questions and answers translated back and forth prior to the stream. I'm definitely looking forward to this! Please post questions before this Thursday so we have some time to get the questions over to them.

1. Why was the Ragnarok World Championship canceled in its 10th year? Is this the end of this annual tradition?

2. Is the monster AI update showcased years ago going to be expanded on or was that just a one-time deal?

3. When is RO getting the DirectX update and anti-aliasing? Newer computers have trouble running the game because the graphics are not optimized among other things.

4. Will players ever have the option to make both male AND female characters on the same RO account? If no, why don't you want them to have that option when most MMORPGs do?

5. Why are most job classes (1st Class, 2nd Class, Rebirth Class, Expanded 1st Class, Expanded 2nd Class) restricted from reaching the new level caps instead of allowing all to reach the level cap like how it was pre-Renewal? Why don't you want players to use whichever class they like through endgame anymore?

6. Many official servers are behind in updates by several years, which has caused players to move to more updated private servers. Do you care to address this issue which impacts your bottom line or are you okay with illegal servers being more up to date than official servers?

7. Why did you raise the level cap without implementing PVM content (e.g. a suitable amount of new monsters in the appropriate level range, new world maps, etc.) to go with it? What did you expect your players to level on when there is barely anything to level on with the new level caps? Shouldn't new content come WITH the level caps instead of raising the level caps before adding the content for it?

8. Do you have any plans to modernize RO to better compete with other MMORPGs on the market? Many MMORPGs nowadays allow players to level up by doing different MMORPG activities like crafting, harvesting materials, fishing and other minigames, etc. RO is behind the times in restricting EXP earnings to only monster kills and quests and players are getting bored of it. Do you have any intention to further enrich the RO experience and better retain players?

9. Will Niflheim, Alfheim, and Jotunheim be further fleshed out in future updates to the extent you've done with Midgard? Or were there never any plans to expand the world of RO to all 9 Norse realms?

10. Why did you change level 1-99 content instead of making new content when you first raised the level cap to 150? Players were expecting level 100+ content to mainly consist of Alfheim and Jotunheim quests, towns, and field maps and it's disappointing the main bulk of the content is still in Midgard.

Why have the dev team only reared their heads now that the cash cow server has merged into us and at no point before.

 

Also please ask the devs why they hate Classic.

Many MMORPGs nowadays allow players to level up by doing different MMORPG activities like crafting, harvesting materials, fishing and other minigames, etc. RO is behind the times in restricting EXP earnings to only monster kills and quests and players are getting bored of it. Do you have any intention to further enrich the RO experience and better retain players?

 

I'd just like to point out that RuneScape (and some other oldschool MMOs as well, probably) has been doing this way before the era of WoW and whatnot. If RO is behind the times now, it was already behind the times before the race even started.

 

EDIT: Slipped my mind that your character level doesn't actually increase from crafting and such in RuneScape, been ages since I last played it, but the basic concept of gaining exp from doing non-combat stuff is still there.

honestly I think this is more a system limitation than anything else, seeing as how changing the gender on your account when you have a performer class of the opposite sex makes the char unplayable.

It was never the intention to give us 160 and 175 level caps at the same time. What actually happened was that iRO received both updates for testing, but when they attempted to release the 160 update, they found that they could not release it without the 175 update. Hence, rather than giving us nothing, they opted to give both at once. A better question will be why the testing process seems so shoddy, with this and the constant bugs around the Geffen tourney being prime examples.

BOTS BOTS BOTS BOTS BOTS BOTS BOTS. Basically until this problem is solved there is just no way for something like to resource gathering for exp or whatever else to be put in without having it be abused by bots. The infrastructure is already in to support this. We have quests which require you to mine materials (midgard ore), gather plants (purification daily in Malaya), and even the fishing event that was put in last year. the discouraging part was seeing how even a temp event like fishing was being heavily botted by the end.

You guys should ask the kRO dev questions like what are you guys doing to address the dupe issues?

We took the time to explain the issue at length to the dev team head and it sounds like while the team is investigating potential causes of the exploit we can be receiving better tools for identifying and removing duped items before they go on the market. 

WOE 2.0 lag is barely playable. When will this be addressed?

Will there be any measure to prevent cheaters from using no delay, autopotting, or auto targeting?

Don't forget about the spam botters, the constant disconnection, the never ending bugs, above 99M vend, etc.

1) What is their opinion on bot issue? I mean, not in sense "why don't you do anything about that" but just their thoughts on it, like our market scanning Ragial, or buffers near Payon, and in general. The way Korean games work, they don't really have opportunities to encounter it.

2) Their thoughts on exp rates. As I know, kRO uses 0.5x rates and probably our 1x-4x (VIP, spotlights, manuals, exp gear) rates are blasphemy for them :)

3) IIRC (might be wrong), sometimes some events, mechanics, locations or ideas which were first implemented on some non-kRO official server by its representatives and community, sometimes it was accepted and included to kRO and spreaded to other server. Could they tell about it? Was latest interesting cases they found and have plans to adopt globally? Did they find anything interesting created on iRO that way lately?

1. What are your more aggressive plans against bots, third party programs and emerging illegal activities like item duplicating since they're no halts and getting more and more aggressive too. No exceptions.

2. What are your more realistic and attainable actions for in-game bugs such as in instances, connection issues etc, ?

3. Were you guys in main gravity concerned when ex-official servers closed down? Were you looking at some point like "where did it went wrong?" or "do they need our help?."

4. Even though there were other game companies that handled other RO servers even the closed ones ;
   a. Were you guys still give/gave terms and regulations or some standards for a stable game?
   b. Do you or How often you monitor these existing servers? Do you still take part on how they handle business?

   c. Do you have plans of having a not diversified in game data such as item database and many more?

5. Is iRO treated as the final setback of other RO servers if they come into closure?

6. Did the migration of THOR went smooth? or there's still a last minuted messed up? What were your final updates, terms, regulations, decisions made both by you guys in Korea Gravity and iRO for THOR before you open its doors?

7. What are your planned or future updates for the next months or years in kRO (which might soon be up in iRO) like in game play experience, mechanics, patches, fixes etc.? just to give us head start with English translations already :p_hi:

I'm assuming that if the Thor migration had been totally smooth, HQ wouldn't have had to send peeps down to WP to assist.

I guess, I'll also ask the questions here. Most of these will be outside RO problems: :heh:

  • I heard that the updates should be at least 6 months later to get updated with other official servers. Why did it take around up to 5 years to update some contents?
  • What/who is their favorite Ragnarok character? Whether it's a monster, an NPC, a class, from mahnwa, and many more.
  • Since they came from Korea, who is/are their favorite K-Pop Singers/Bands?
  • Is there a "forever" in Ragnarok Online? What I mean is that will the Ragnarok Online live forever worldwide?

I've got some questions for the devs:

 

1) Are there any aspects to the game that you feel need improvement at the moment?

 

2) Are you guys satisfied with the current state of the card system? A lot of cards don't see use since there's typically better alternatives (whether from gear, consumables, or other cards).

 

3) Along the same lines, how do you feel about equipment in the game? With all the additions over the years, and especially with the Renewal update, a lot of gear just isn't that great, being overshadowed by even Eden gears.

 

4) Are you ever planning to do class reviews, see if there's any skills that could use some improvement, or others that need to be toned down? Some skill builds took big hits when Renewal came, while others have always been weak, and at least one class has skills that literally do nothing and/or have no purpose aside from taunting other players/guilds.

Since I trust that other people have the technical questions covered, I want to ask different ones:

 

- Are there plans to release new merch/media? We need more memorabilia from this game >_< Plushies, figures, sountracks, artbooks, let them come. I believe it has been done in the past, but how about more recent themes? Maybe even a lore book? :o A new series even! MVP merch, yes. 

 

- Ask them which is their favorite MVP :v Also, tell us more about the team who designs the mobs...specifically the MVP's. :v MAN, I wanna know the designers.

 

- If you could take the place of an avatar into the world of Ragnarok, what would be the first thing you do? :v

 

I'll add more if I can think of other questions.  :p_laugh:

1. Can we please get a DirectX update :L It would make streaming RO a heck of a lot easier.

 

2.Anything we can do to shorten the update gap in between the games? If not maybe let iRO have a development team of there own like jRO?

 

We're working with kRO on changing up the process for requesting and receiving updates and being better informed about the updates large and small that kRO is putting in on a regular basis.

why kRO missed to implement some cards from:
moscovia
brasilis
morocc incarnation and wounded morocc
nightmare pyramid
nightmare glastheim (there are cards for nightmare scaraba and clock tower, but none for pyramid and GH)
