Hello~

I just started about a week ago and I have some questions of things I either don't understand at all, or think I understand and want to make sure I got right. Okay... I actually have a lot of questions. :Emo_17: If a guide has already been written for any of this, a link would be appreciated since I couldn't seem to find good info on much of this.

Gamepad nevermind, I found the article on this. If anybody else is wondering: https://support.warp...ragon-saga.aspx
Is the gamepad support working, or does it not support Xbox controllers? (Or even, does anybody use this?) I tried setting up an Xbox controller and:
  • I couldn't use the triggers at all
  • the bumpers/shoulder buttons would map to some of the same buttons as the face buttons
  • the d-pad and left analog had the same mappings
  • the right analog and face buttons had the same mappings
  • pressing the analog stick seemed to be its own button (if I remember correctly)
This left me with 9 "buttons" to use as hotkeys, and only 5 buttons after I had mapped movement. This is not nearly enough for playing. :Emo_14:

Loot System
How does the game determine who gets a drop? From what I could tell, the individual who does the last hit on a monster gets the loot. For a party, it would be the group that gets the last hit if more than one party is competing.
Party loot's Shared setting is "anybody picks it up, system splits it"(?) and Free is "the one who picks it up gets it"(?)

Kills
Specifically with Monster Kill Count for the boxes, how is a kill determined? First hit, last hit, most damage, or something else? Also, it seemed party members don't share this at all, which is kind of frustrating being a hybrid damage/support in a party. I can't even imagine trying to be full support and wanting to earn some boxes.

Production System
I'm don't think I understand this at all. I finished the gathering quests, and understand how to get resources, but can't seem to get a grasp on what to do next. I think I found the menu for it, but all the items looked really confusing and I don't know what any of it actually does :Emo_17:

Also, was the gathering/production system originally split into separate learn-able skills, then later become all one? The wording in the tutorial menus makes it seem that way, so I was looking around for a bit on where to choose what to learn, then realized I had all of it.

General Skills
  • Should a re-skill be done at class promotion, or should I stick with what I picked already?
  • Do old skills become obsolete later, or do they scale well with class promotions and leveling?
  • Why are there 20 skill reset scrolls for levels 1-19? Are players really expected to want to reset that many times before first class change? :chomok01:
Mission Mode
How is sense and ability determined?
How is contribution determined?
Is the Rank earned the same for the entire party, or is it per player?

Housing
While I haven't looked into it too much (I'm still too poor to be able to afford one and other things I need), I do have one burning question: Is there a way to have 1 house for all my characters to use? I'm rather addicted to alts and I don't really want to maintain a house for each of them :Emo_14: I also tend to play my characters all equally, so giving the house perks to only a "main" wouldn't really work well.

Knight Skills
My knight seems, uh, not so fun anymore. At first it was great, Storm Blade is really powerful, the hammers are pretty fun, and I was excited to get new knight skills. But it's getting harder to knock elites/bosses down or in the air, which makes me repeat the same 2-3 skills over while I wait for them all to cool down... and also prevents me from using Storm Blade on them. So basically: will it get better, did I skill it wrong? If I skilled it wrong, should I just keep earning levels to fix it or should I re-skill?

Here's what I have so far, at level 31:
Spoiler

But so far, I'm really enjoying playing. I absolutely love that Magician's basic attack isn't just whacking the enemies with the staff. :Emo_15: I've started 3 characters and successfully dragged a friend along :Emo_13: Thanks in advance for spending your time reading this and (hopefully) answering all my questions~!

Edit:
One more thing I forgot. Is Bearded Whale Coast usually crowded, or are those crowds just from people farming the event quests? At some points it got kind of hard to do the normal quests in that area because I couldn't seem to kill anything.

Hello and welcome to our community. I hope you enjoy the game so far!

I will try to answer you the more technical questions while I am sure that the questions regarding the game itself can be answered by the other players.

One more thing I forgot. Is Bearded Whale Coast usually crowded, or are those crowds just from people farming the event quests? At some points it got kind of hard to do the normal quests in that area because I couldn't seem to kill anything.

Gamepad

There is no native XBox Controller support. I heard many players using the tool "XPadder" for it and have success using it, but since we don't support this tool officially (and to be honest I never tried it my self - but thinking about that I could try it out) I can't say anything more.

Loot System

Good question how a kill is determined, I never asked myself to be honest. I will try to investigate it.

Kills

As for the monster count, it's intended that the kill count only counts for the individual player. This is done so that the players have to farm the Gada Chests and some of the quests which needs kill counts on their own.

General Skills

The 20 skill reset scrolls are one of these strange facts nobody knows about. Maybe they were intended to be for level 20 too so that players can try out their new skills after the 1st job change. However we have plans to decrease the amount of them. :) Or maybe set their max level to 20 instead of 19.

Mission Mode

Ability and Sense are the next mystery I can't answer at the moment. I will try to investigate how this is calculated. Same goes for contribution, but it seems if you kill a reasonable number of monsters compared to the other party members, your contribution is 100%.

As for the Rank, it's the same for all party members. You can say, party members have to work together to reach a good rank.

Bearded Whale Coast

Some of the maps are only that crowded at the moment because of the currently running event. This is not the usual type of event this time. We just celebrate that everyone from all around the world is playing here on the last official DS server for over a year.

I hope at least some of my answers helped you even though some of them aren't really satisfying I think.

Enjoy and hope to see you in-game.  :p_smile:

Holy mother of Madoka... I believe I won't write it all at once. I'm impressed someone actually asked this kind of question though.

As for the loot system, I have witnessed that it usually is the character dealing the most important amount of damage who gets the loot. Party setting "Shared" means that loot indeed is given about equally to each party member (and anyone can pick it up for it to be distributed), whereas "Free for all" means that the one picking it up (be it by walking onto the dropped items or through pet pick up skill) gets it.

kill is determined by... well, killing, which means dealing the killing blow. The monster kill count works like this, too, which means you'll have to deal killing damage to 1.000 monsters in order to obtain the last tier chest. Party members indeed don't share this at all.

The mission mode's Sense goes up each time you hit a monster, and Ability each time you hit several monsters at once (4+, need to hit with a skill). Each time the sense or ability bar fills up entirely, it resets and rank points are given to the party. Contribution (in percent) is the amount of point you obtained on your own compared to the points your whole party obtained. Rank is the same for your whole party.

The Production system is... terribly, horribly, awfully explained and you have to figure out about all of it. From what I know :

  • Gathering materials only is the first step to producing : go and interact with Midas, in the Port of Winds, and select "Production" in the menu that shows up.
  • Produced items have a grade, from lvl 2 to lvl 8. Lvl 2 items are used in lvl 1~30 crafting, lvl 3 items in lvl 31~40 crafting, and so on until lvl 8 items used in lvl 81~85 crafting.

Now the use of said items...

  • Wooden pattern, Machine part, Mysterious powder and Slipping (?) oil are materials needed in order to craft other, useful items.
  • Extractors, soulshift enhancers, option expanders... are used for soulcrafting purpose, and I advise you to mail me ingame ( Homurasan ) if you intend to know how they work. It'll be way easier to explain when we'll both have the actual thing before us.
  • Important : Card boxes let you obain socket cards (extremely useful if you take the time to gather these). Categories described later on, mail me ingame and I'll show you how they work.

Socket cards are used to increase particular stats thanks to socketting, which process you can ask me ingame. Each category of card has particular gear parts they can be used on. They have a grade (same as above) and a star count which determines their power : a higher star count (from 1 to 10) means higher stats. Socket cards of the same star count and grade can be exchanged (along with a star fragment) for a card of the same grade, with one more star to its count.

Card categories (and what effects the socket cards they may contain have) :

  • Recovery box : max HP, max MP, % max HP, % max MP, HP regen, MP regen.
  • Special box : evade rate, aim rate, absolute defense rate, attack speed, critical damage, critical rate.
  • Attack box : ATK, %ATK, MATK, %MATK.
  • Stats box : strength, agility, health, intelligence, all stats.
  • Defense : never opened any of them as they don't seem useful to me.

Any other question you have about the Production system I'll be glad to answer later ingame or via PM here on the forum since I don't have much time this morning.

house is needed for each of your characters, although you can have a character with a house on another account, so that you can visit said house with your main characters. I also advise you to focus on one particular character you would level and gear up, to be able to earn money and stuff for the other ones.

You can remove the fire and ice hammers since they aren't of much use (too short a cooldown, you can't use two and your other skills at once). Level up Spear jab and Spinning bear. First Warrior skill isn't powerful, Cutdown can be left at 3/5, ATK bonus from the Warrior tree will prove unsignificant as you level up.

Got to go ! Don't hesitate to PM me here on the forum or mail me ingame if you have any more questions.

Also, Popcorn : never doubt of my ability to answer any game-related question  :p_hi:

Thanks for the answers! Almost everything makes perfect sense now. I have some kind of addiction to figuring out the underlying mechanics in games, so my questions can get pretty detailed :P

- I'll try out xpadder tonight before/after maintenance. I looked at the tutorial for it in the knowledge base and it looks pretty easy.
- I'll also take another look at Production tonight. Now that I have a basic explanation, I'll see if I can figure out the rest myself. If not I'll be sure to PM you, hopefully with more specific questions.

Also, another question I forgot about:
- What kind of range is there for shared exp/drops/etc in a party? Is it just being in the same map or closer than that? I was probably having issues with Kills because we were thinking we had to be right next to each other to share these things.

It's the same map. :)

If party members are on other maps than you, you see a running "man" for the particular party member displayed on the top of the screen, besides the party member's name. This one won't get anything shared then and does not share with you, because the one is on a different map.

As for skill buffs which affects the whole party, you usually have to be close to the one who buffs.

Passive buffs being given to each player depending on their classes have a map-wide range.
