Hello boys and girls, here is the thing, are shield mastery and parry still worth to put on 5? or even more... I'm a 55 paladin but lets say one among 20 or 30 hits in PVP result as block and in PVE well none :p_swt: , Im wearing an angel shield btw and currently have both skill at 5.

Another thing...none among passive skills for paladin/dragoon are good enough? Currently I have 5/5 in body activation and shield mastery but just not sure...

I have read cartouche's guide but I'm looking for more opinions.

Regards.  :ok:

My paladin is kind of nooby, I got bored of him at around level 40 or so. I was looking at my friend's stats over Skype screenshare, when she wanted to reset her skills (she's an 80 dragoon, using a BDL shield) and we decided that the skills are just not worth the skill points for a PVE build. I'm sure there's a way to get up to the 40% block cap if you can find a way to stack a lot of ADR, but unless you're hardcore looking for a block build, I'd say your sp are better invested elsewhere

I know right? Thanks for reply. what about passives that increase defense? all useless because add numbers at base defence?

I'm PRETTY sure that the percent based ones are ALL base defense. The definite value numerical ones add very little, and that's what enchanting is for, so... I'm personally opting against them. Literally the only passive that I like from that skill tree is "aura initiation" (duh haha) although I haven't tested "dragon scale" in the final job.

As for active skills, barricade blocks a percentage of damage, and my friend uses it to tank Elga's carpet bomb on phase two. C***roach life adds a base defense, I believe, but the healing is nice if you need itin emergencies.

The real problem is that both these skills have, if I recall right, a wrong description ; they don't increase your chances to block but the damage decrease on successfull block.
