I'm pretty sure windows 10 isn't going to save 13 year old software.

Speaking of which, isn't it funny that compatibility went full circle over a 10+ year period and Gravity still haven't reacted yet.

I managed to install the upgrade on my toaster and played RO. Seems fine, no errors or whatsoever.

dont know if all the bugs have been fixed but the bricking issue was on laptops that had integrated + high performace video cards like my intel hd + nvidia gtx 870m laptop where it switches to the nvidia when needed. if you have a laptop that uses two video drivers then you might want to wait until all the kinks are worked out.

found a few bugs, but nothing related to RO, or anything that can harm RO experience, so i'd say its "safe" for RO?

I have such a laptop (albeit an older one) that was already screwing up because of Windows 8. I had no hope for it. However, when I upgraded it to Windows 10, it got miraculously fixed. The new drivers that were very hard for me to find were automatically installed by Windows 10.

How much did MS pay you for that testimonial lol

I'm cured! It's a miracle! Everything that was broken is now fixed by the hand of Microsoft.

Once I get the update roll out to my PC (still waiting..) I can't wait to try it. Could windows 10 be something I can recommend customers that shop at my IT store? Hopefully!

So I decided to take the plunge and upgrade my main PC to Windows 10. On Windows 8.1, taking screenshots on RO would always freeze the client for around 3-5 seconds (or more), but after the upgrade, it's even faster than when I was taking screenshots on my laptop (which didn't freeze when taking screenshots).

This is awesome. I recommend all of you to upgrade.

No, I'm not a paid endorser.

It still didn't fully fix this crap for me though. :(

Just upgraded. RO runs terribru compared to Win7.

Frame drops on fullscreen and issues with card detection for resolutions in the setup app.

Have you try re-installing the video driver?

My full screen frame rate has always been terrible with Windows 8 onwards. I always play in windowed mode with the same resolution as my monitor's, so it's kinda like full screen. :heh:

yeah I'm pretty sure it's been established that you shouldn't do full screen in win8

full screen messes with multi-clienting for me anyway, so i just go windowed mode.

windowed mode also allows me to watch shows/movies while i grind mindlessly somewhere.

True. Hopefully RO can eventually implement borderless fullscreen. Yearight.

well i suppose you can go windowed mode at a very high resolution; it would simulate full screen at that point no? unless even that causes issues in win8 and win10, or RO doesn't support resolutions that high in the first place.

Yea, that's what I do. Although I can still see the window header on top of RO if I do that, which is kinda annoying. Newer games have a "Borderless Window Mode" where it goes full screen but it does not have that header on top.

I thought it was a rare problem which upon taking the first screen shot it freezes the client for some seconds. It turns out to be win8.1's problem then. Also, it is the first screen shot that freezes. After that, it smooths like hell. Are you same?

Pretty sure it is a client side fix. My Win7 setup did the same thing last week when I was hunting on a lower leveled character, it was surprising to say the least.

So I decided to take the plunge and upgrade my main PC to Windows 10. I don't know if this is hybrid GFX or not from your other post, but NVidia can have some interesting mess ups in the driver when the content type being reported to the display is in auto mode.

Try opening the NVidia control panel, go to  display > adjust desktop color settings and there should be a dropdown box under the heading "content type reported to the display. Set it to Desktop Programs ( the default is auto select and really screws up RO text on 1080P HDMI TVs ).

The other thing to try is disabling FXAA, older programs are hit and miss on whether it offers improvement or not.
