Bad timing because on the 26th, I'm going to be on a meet up with my guildies. :c I may still attempt to take part but probably something that takes about 4-7 hours and not more. It's sufficient for a simple art I guess. >.<

I hope your outing goes well and that you have a ton of fun. As for the art, I will leave it up to the artist to do what they like. you can do all sketches or all out. What ever you decide to submit i know will be a most pleasurable welcome.

I hate to be a spoilsport but...what's to prevent preemptive sketching and then they'll just add those special items on the day itself when it's announced? Light sketching can be done with charcoal...

It'll be obvious if someone didn't incorporate the item into their art if that's the case.

Thank you to both for making valid points.  Hopefully this will dissuade people from just working on things ahead of time.  

Maybe you should add a theme as well as the objects. Even if early sketching is done they'd have to modify it quite a bit.

i have a question. if people are to craft/weld something would that mean the photo of their work would also be posted as loading screens? O_O i just wanna clarify for others

Yes. I didn't want to just limit it to drawings. while drawn art work is really great, there are so many other things that the community are capable of. Those should be recognized as well. That is also the reason why I didn't want all the slots to be taken by the contest, because I feel there should be a healthy mix of things to keep as eye candy to the players.

Hey guys, I would like to participate on the 25th too, however I'm not really good at digital and photoshop drawings. I'm just skilled with hand/manual drawings. Should I just take a picture of the drawing to join? xP

Photos would be fine, but it'd be better if you can get yourself a scanner. I'm also more of a traditional artist myself, but most people prefer to see online portfolios so I invested in a good scanner.

you guys are quick~ Yes Annaliesa, you are more than welcome to draw and send a photo (hand drawn is very pretty). ZeroTigress is right. scanned in work is preferred so that if you win, your art looks nicer on the loading screens. 

What if you made a hand made assassin cross katar how does that fit in?

You can make anything THE DAY OF THE CONTEST, and if it has the surprise elements that will be announced on the day of the contest, it will be allowed. 

hand made, generally means you crafted it yourself..... so..... just going to have to go with it. AS LONG AS YOU ABIDE BY THE OTHER RULES!  

That being said, when the surprise items are announced, I might be foolishly assuming that the "art" being made will revolve around the items, not have them put in as an after thought. I believe ZeroTigress made a comment about it generally being apparent when items are just put in as an after thought. 

I look forward to seeing how you manage to center the items with your katar, and pull it all together into a cohesive art project.

I couldn't just spring a contest like this last minute, because many would complain of no notice. Which is an injustice. So waiting a little  ( or a lot, if you are excited) is something that must be done in order to hopefully have a good pool of contestants. 

I hope you are able to participate in the event.

Also if you don't have a scanner, you can get things scanned if you have an office supply store, FedEx/Kinkos or similar business nearby. I love traditionally drawn art but unless you have a lot of proper lighting photos (especially cell photos) of traditional art really ramps down the quality of even really nice art!
