Do they still exist? I can't seem to access any chaos maps from the scrolls, they only take me to the chaos MM. And Elga doesn't sell the shield anymore either.

Apparently chaos maps only exist in mission mode. You don't need the shield anymore.

From the scroll, you will warp yourself to chaos map when you are not in channel 100, dungeon, mission mode and pvp.

However, for further answer, you can collect chaos equipment there (not from the mobs).

One more on the list of stupid changes they did in my opinion. Probably just because they didn't want to spend time making chaos maps for the ice update (3rd chapter?).

I don't usually "live in the past" but this one interested me anyway.

My opinion : If we look further & more related things, we will "see"

- Hidden map...where mobs drop devil soul stones.

+ Devil soul stones

_ Required as a material to travel to the chaos map

_ Required for 3rd jobchange.

So i think they mean final jobchange is the end so there will be no higher level hidden map -> no more devil soul stones -> no more chaos map (after ice update).

Hopefully you understand my weak English & argument.

I doubt devils soul stones being involved in the 3rd jc quest have anything to do with it. I think it's way more likely they didn't want to spend the money to create so many new hidden maps and chaos maps. They were fun however, and by removing them they removed a large chunk of content. I think it's a shame they removed them, I have a dream that one day they shall return.
