Hello there, i was browsing on the new Metal Assault page and found this:

2it4eh5.jpg

How is that balanced? (Looking at HP, SP, Speed of each one)
Is it wrong on page or in-game too?

It's more than meets the eye. Rather I cannot defend if the stats being exactly accurate to the bars shown, however, the characters still have unique character skill traits. Each character have heal, however, marie (the one that looks broken), has the lowest heal recover, thus other characters actually exceed her health.

That is one example.

Good to hear that example but what about new players? That's only known by old players
They'll look at page and not skills they have until they play it.
Stats must be accurate is what it's shown on page. (Is like lying to new crowd)

I guess would be good to contribute a new section where new people can explore their own skills of each character to motivate them to choose easily or even play the game.

They'll just have to see the visual once they play the game. There's three character slots available to try out different characters.

Well honestly i see it's balanced and these pictures were exactly as the ones that was in MA.

And the reason why i say it's balanced is because each character has their own skill and playstyle. For example if you want to compare Ai to Marie. Ai's skill use is backdrag and Grenade cooldown. Which means she could camp at a short distance. that's why she has more hp than marie. Marie on the other side has eagle eye and accuracy which means 80 percent of the time she can scope from very long distances. Therefore she can camp at long distances, which is the reason why she has less hp than the Ai.

I hope this clears everything up :)

Thanks.

Osborne, I agree upon initially looking at the differences, it looks unfair. But there is more than just those stats that contribute to the unique play style of each character. As you may have been reading, each character has more to offer than just stats. I'll ask about possibly providing a little more detail behind each character to show what other differences or advantages they have over one another. :)

Osborne and other new players:

Each Character has different Active Skills and a Special Ability.(These skills information are just what I remember)

These are only the Exclusive skills that each character is known most for.

These are the skills each Character had in Metal Assault(might be different now)

Carl Exclusive Skills:

Active Skill -> Running Jump, jumps quick and far(avoids enemy bullets unless you jump into a wall and someone shoots the wall).

Running jump can be upgraded 3 times, Lvl 3 = Mp cost 9 and a cooldown of around 2 seconds.

Special Ability -> SpeedStar, accelerates Carl's run speed and gives him a slight chance to evade shots for a limited time.(he is able to run across a large map in less then 2 seconds)

Burton Exclusive Skills:

Active Skill -> Spear, dashes forward and stun's enemies in front of you while also giving you a small increase in defense while spearing.

Spear can be upgraded 3 times, Lvl 3 = Mp cost 14 and a cooldown of around 1.5 seconds.

Special Ability -> Rock, increase Burton's defense and allows him to withstand incoming shots for a limited time.(really hard to kill with Rock on)

Marie Exclusive Skills:

Active Skill -> Double roll, protects herself by rolling twice.

Double roll can be upgrade 3 times,Lvl  3 = Mp cost 11 and a cooldown of around 2 seconds.

Special Ability -> Shooting Star, increase reload speed for all guns.(can probably use a rocket and shoot 2 or more times in less then 2 seconds)

Ai Exclusive Skills:

Active Skill -> Dud Grenade, confuses the enemy by giving the illusion of throwing more then 1 grenade.

Dud Grenade can be upgraded 3 times, Lvl 3 = Mp cost 14 and cooldown of about 1 second also throws 3 duds.

Special Ability -> Hide, cloaks Ai from enemy sight whilst avoiding penalties to her movement speed and aim, but reveals herself when she jump(lvl 1 Hide) and passes a nearby enemy.(this ability is really useful to ambush the enemy from behind and capture the flag maps)

The Stats may look unfair, but it doesn't affect the game-play a lot since each character has their advantages and disadvantages.

My advice for new players are to try every character first and see which 1 you like the most.

All of the characters are fun and have different skills, so it just depends on who you like the most.

This is very true on people should try the out different characters. In the old Metal Assault I started as a Marie and sucked. I would be slightly under KRD. Made a Carl and instantly started doing better going twice the amount of kills even after starting protection wore off.
They all have different play styles and are surprisingly balanced out. All depends on what play style you want.
I do agree with they should change it and give more info since it was misleading especially back then.

Speaking of trying out all characters it would be nice to have 4 character slots instead of three or an item that allows additional slots :P.

Oh btw I read that Red text here on the Forums is used by Volunteer mods and a Moderator voice and it is recommended to avoid using it. Not sure it that means not to use it though...

I wouldn't worry about it in this case. ;) Multi-colored text for the sake of formatting is different than using it to talk normally to make a point. :)

There are several nuances not explained by that chart.

From when I was playing Ai was a more uncommon character but had the strongest stats because of her healing factor skill and grenade cooldown reduction(you could throw or fire a grenade every second.) Because she has passive healing she ends up being beefier than the rest of the cast. Main downside to Ai is that she holds snipers and shotguns around mid-body, which makes her edge-fighting weak unless using grenades or firing up at enemies from the ground. Her movement skill was crappy and dud grenades was pretty useless but her land mine removal was extremely fast. Ai's style was aggressive camp, slowly pushing forward and suppressing opponents with grenades and cover fire. She was good with any weapon that was not a shotgun.

Carl had the best height and gun angle. He is really strong in general. Small enough to avoid weapon fire but because he holds the gun higher up closer to his head he is good at corner fighting. Additionally, he had by far the best movement skill, running jump, which let him clear large distances and avoid everything but head-shots. In open areas he is faster than Marie. Additional points including that he had a fairly low cool-down on grenades, decent move-speed with heavy weapons, and good throwing range on grenades. His play-style was tailored for front-line diving, but honestly could play however needed. Worked well with any weapon, preferably one with good mobility stats.

Burton was the hardest character to play since his body size is so big and move-speed so low he has a hard time dodging. However, he has interesting passives that let him run extremely fast with heavy weapons and increase the explosion radius of his rockets. Spear, although it stunned was usually a gimmick to punish enemies that missed a shot. The only map I can think of where he was really good was Maginot Line D which was an indoor map with closed in spaces. His play style was two extremes, very close quarters or very long range. Best weapons were Rocket Launcher, Flamethrower, and Shotgun.

Marie was the fastest and smallest character. Since she is so short her edge fighting is weak because her gun cannot make it over edges very easily but she makes up for it by having increased vision range and accuracy when using her skills. She was really popular when players camped but died off a bit in favor of Carl once players became more aggressive. Her main strengths were her body size and that she could get away with using less accurate weapons(allowing her higher damage weapons.) Interestingly, Marie could heal allies around her but not as often and had the best Mana regen for skills. Her play-style was generally fighting from the edge of the screen because her survivability at close range was low. Her best weapons were Rifle and Sniper.

From when I last played, the strength of the characters was AI = Carl > Marie > Burton where the popularity of the characters was Carl > Marie > AI > Burton.

That's a great idea. Including a play style tip while choosing a character would be a good way to avoid a mass of new players picking her and being disjointed.

These stats are just a guideline, endgame goes like this:

Max runs like the hell spamming a automatic rifle

Burton stuns you whit charge then blast whit launcher and is tanky AF

AI is the balanced one, works whit every weapon and has heals

and the sniper that is the only one whit a skill for see more of the screen so the go to for sniper rifle.

choose ur poison.
