Brewing up Trouble: Anniversary loading screen contest

Hey there folks! We're happy to announce our Anniversary loading screen contest! This year's anniversary quest is based heavily on a certain popular chemistry-based tv series. The theme:

Alchemists at work, brewing up trouble. 

This can include the different variants of Alchemist class characters, hard at work on legitimate or suspicious applications of their talents. 

 Entry Rules

-Art must be new (created after the announcement of the contest) and wholly created by the artist. Clip art and elements borrowed from other works are not allowed. 

-Artist must be the one submitting, no commissioned works allowed for this contest. 

-Traditional and digital art 

-Entries MUST be 4:3 aspect ratio to be considered for loading screens. If that means that you have to add a "letterbox" to get it to that aspect ratio (640x480, 1600x1200) please do so. 

-Entries must be 640x480 jpgs at around 100kb or slightly less. You can also include a larger scale version of your image in your submission post. Sites like this will scale down your pictures and let you set a maximum file size. 

-Please include your character name, server and headgear choice in the post, this will make it a lot easier to add your prize when the new screens go in. 

Judging

-The deadline to submit an entry into the contest will be 11:59pm PDT (GMT-7) on Friday, May 27th

-Judging will be done by a panel of WP Staff based on the following categories

• Originality
• Theme
• Effort
• Overall Execution

Winning entries will be announced on the following Tiki Tuesday. 

Prizes

-Participation prize is a named version of our upcoming Anniversary headgear, coming in June. 

-Participation prizes will be lmited to prevent low-effort works receiving a free headgear. 

-Grand prizes are a named Costume: Artist Beret

are we seriously limited to 640x480 pixels?  That is such a tiny canvas size.

It's just the final submitting size is 640x480. You can create a much larger artwork (in the same aspect ratio) and scale it down.

So the players can go, "what is this? a doodle made for ants?".  I guess this will be a practice on scene framing then.

Its a bit smaller than the usual reqs. Wouldn't that stretch and pixelate the artwork once its turned into a loading screen? I'm just thinking about those people playing on full screen.

I guess its safe to do a bigger version and include the link just in case then have it resized to 640x480?

Aw thanks! The idea came about spontaneously upon reading the guidelines for the contest. Glad that it somehow evokes the creepy feels I intended. It's an almost-24-hour work that's why I still keep on polishing the picture with each "unacceptable imperfection" that calls my attention.

Second Class server citizen here, I'd like to know what the prize and if we're allowed to tread the sacred ground that is renewal contests. If so, may I have an extra week to participate in please sir so that we're on even grounds? I understand it's a lot to ask to be treated equally to the esteemed renewal users, but if you could make an exception this once please sir Oda.

Of course classic users are welcome to participate in community threads. Should one of the top submissions be from the classic server they will get will get an account bound and named copy of Subject Aura. (which I will make solely for community top prizes) this will be a different one but the same sprite as the one that drops from the challenge dungeon.

As for a participation prize I will let Oda decide on that.

Too bad the staff hate me and I don't know what the participation prize is. knowing I stand no chance at the big prize, I'll just think about it then forget I guess.
