Creative Event: Summer Rock Out!

Welcome back once again! Dawnte and Myzery are here to host another contest!



The focus of this contest is painting your favorite Ragnarok Online monster or character on a rock!


I'm betting that a lot of you thought this was going to be a musical contest.
This is fairly simple and we firmly believe that anyone can participate.
There will be a participation prize for this, even if you're no Rembrandt.
Now that doesn't mean you can just dip your rock in paint and call it a whisper.
As long as you put in genuine effort, and your creation has more pixels than ET for Atari, you will most certainly qualify!

Your entry can be any monster or character from Ragnarok Online (Including NPCs and characters)




RULES:

This contest is open to ALL servers, which includes Classic. If the prize isn't available on Classic, a substitution will be given in place of the posted prizes.

There will be two categories for this contest, which are best monster and best character, which includes NPCs and player characters. You may paint someone else, but it must be in good taste.

Only one entry per person will be accepted. You may enter both categories, but you are only eligible for one prize.

There will be 3 winners from each category chosen by the judges. One winner from each category will be chosen by Oda as his personal favorite.  You may win twice with the judges vote and Oda's personal favorite.
However, you may only win once with either. Which means for example, that if you win the judges vote and Oda's pick in same category, you won't be able to win in the second category, and the second place person will be the default winner.

Please show effort in this! If you think someone did a bad job, please keep your opinion to yourself. Oda will have the ultimate decision if someone submits an entry that is questionable. His say is final, so if you have a problem with that, please avoid entering. Judging will be done with a panel of no less than 4 people who are from a variety of guilds or no WoE affiliation at all. Everyone will be treated and judged without bias. If you for some reason feel that you were the victim of bias, please contact Dawnte or Myzery here on the forums.

Using paint or chalk is acceptable, but chalk may be a bit harder to work with. This is ultimately up to you!
We prefer that the rock you paint on is found outside. The size does not matter, but make sure it's big enough to tell what your creation is supposed to be!
Glamorizing your rock with accessories or props will not be considered when it comes down to judging, and this may actually detract from your entry overall if you choose to do so. This isn't a crafting contest. You may use things to accent your art, but make sure it's very minimal. Your art should be the focal point.

Most importantly, just have fun! These contest are for you, the community!
Be respectful of each other. We look forward to seeing all of your great entries.

This contest will take place from July 18th to August 1st
The event ends at 11:59 pm (pst) on August 1st.

Honestly, you can do whatever you want. Those are really cute!
You could also grab a flat rock and work some magic on it, it's all up to creativity.

What a unique event.  I used to collect rocks as a kid so I should have a lot of good ones on hand.

Just for clarification, does this mean we shouldn't make/prepare/use a fitting background with our rock art?  I don't think just grass or carpet would be fitting for my idea, so I was wanting to use some other things I own/can borrow that would go with the overall theme I have in mind that would only give a fitting context and not mean to distract(don't want to say too much, but think "harmony" instead of "clutter").  If that's not okay, though, I'll come up with something else.

I think some pictures of examples would be helpful so that we're mostly on track with what is in mind.

You can make a background, sure.
We are just trying to avoid what happened in the egg contest where people would build like a huge intricate Gundam suit and place an egg inside it.
That never happened, but the accessories for the eggs out shined the actual egg painting for the most part.

Anyway, that's kinda what I figured you meant but I always like clarification.  I'm looking forward to working on this project this upcoming weekend.

I went with Vanilmirth for my entry.  It started raining while I was outdoors, which is sort of a miracle during the summer where I live.

I only used acrylic paints and a sealer/finisher to make it glossy.  The props I used were just things I found around my house.
