Hello Dragon Saga Friends!

I am aware that the complete change on how the element system works can be confusing especially when one is used to the old system.

I think it's not quite understandable how and why we set up the system like it is now. One of the biggest reason is: Control over adjustments which might be needed in the future without the need to break the players' gear.

Element Points

Element Points are the points you get for a level up starting with level 20 and which you can assign to the element of your choice.

Every point represents a base damage AND resistance of 5 if your element damage/resistance rate is 100%. Every character has a base damage and resistance rate of 50% which can be raised by element effects on equipment/socket cards/booster items. There is no item/equip/booster/socket card which affects the Element Points you assigned directly. That means the base damage/resistance is not affected by any of these items. The base damage/resistance can only be changed by assigning your element points to the elements.

Example:

You are Level 85 and you have assigned the points like this:

60 on Fire

80 on Ice

100 on Nature

0 on Dark

means, that the base damage AND resistance - if you have a damage and resistance rate of 100% - would be:

300 on Fire

400 on Ice

500 on Nature

0 on Dark

if you have no items/equip/socket cards which modifies the damage or resistance rate your character has a base rate of 50%.

Actually you would have:

150 Damage and Resistance on Fire

200 Damage and Resistance on Ice

250 Damage and Resistance on Nature

0 Damage and Reisistance on Dark

These values are only correct for attacking another Player (PvP). When attacking a monster (PvE) there is a damage bonus which scales from 5.0x (Level 20) to 2.4x (Level 85). Means when attacking a Monster with the said amounts it would look like this:

A level 85 char would get a 2.4x bonus on element damage when attacking monsters. This results in:

360 Damage and 150 Resistance on Fire

480 Damage and 200 Resistance on Ice

600 Damage and 250 Resistance on Nature

0 Damage and 0 Resistance on Dark

Element Rate and Element Rate Points

You can find Element Attack Rate and Element Defense Rate stats on equip items, socket cards and the element booster items.

The rate modifiers can come either as a percentage value (like 2.5%) which means it adds this 2.5% to your damage rate/resistance rate.

Example:

You have a socket card which gives you Fire Damage Rate +10% and Ice Damage Rate +10%. With the example above your character would have:

Fire Element Damage Rate: 60%
Ice Element Damage Rate: 60%

Nature Element Damage Rate: 50%

Dark Element Damage Rate: 50%

Fire Element Resistance Rate: 50%

Ice Element Resistance Rate: 50%

Nature Element Resistance Rate: 50%

Dark Element Resistance Rate: 50%

Now let's assume the amounts of above. When attacking another player with the said level 85 character the following amounts apply:

180 Damage and 150 Resistance on Fire

240 Damage and 200 Resistance on Ice

250 Damage and 250 Resistance on Nature

0 Damage and 0 Resistance on Dark

On the other side the items/cards etc. can show their amount with a non-percentage number (it's called Element Rate Points).

Every of these points represents 5% of additional damage/resistance rate.

That means if you have the PoS set for example you will get:

Fire Resistance Rate +7
Ice Resistance Rate +7

Nature Resistance Rate +7

Dark Resistance Rate +7

which actually means:

Fire Resistance Rate +35%
Ice Resistance Rate +35%

Nature Resistance Rate +35%

Dark Resistance Rate +35%

Assuming you still have the socket card of the previous example socketed we would have this result now:

Fire Element Damage Rate: 60%
Ice Element Damage Rate: 60%

Nature Element Damage Rate: 50%

Dark Element Damage Rate: 50%

Fire Element Resistance Rate: 85%

Ice Element Resistance Rate: 85%

Nature Element Resistance Rate: 85%

Dark Element Resistance Rate: 85%

180 Damage and 255 Resistance on Fire

240 Damage and 340 Resistance on Ice

250 Damage and 425 Resistance on Nature

0 Damage and 0 Resistance on Dark

Why did we do this so complicated?

Control, control and more control. If we need to adjust the damage because it is too low or high, we can just set another amount per point, but the players still can keep their builds, because it scales with the higher amount of damage/resistance we give for the points.

Vice versa is the same, if it comes to a point where someone said: I was able to stack my gear up to 10000% and we think.. No that's not a good thing, we can adjust the rate amount every Element Rate Point gives on the equip/socket cards.

I hope this makes the system a bit more clear.

Hahaha and I still see tons of players run around with only % on their gear, whilst it is better to have the Element Rate Points (non-percentage numbers as you called it in simple terms).

I have built my sorcerer with a couple of low star ice cards (they add like 2 or 3 points) and a few nature ones.

Already do I have more elemental damage than those only using high star % cards.

The trick is indeed to watch what you build, listen well to the post up here! ;)

Hello. Thanks for the Good explanation but, can you explain how the elemental damage adds up to skills? for example a gladiator which deals 1000 damage for normal attack and has 50 ice pts. So 50x5x0.5 = 125 additional damage (0.5 factor for 50% default base attack rate of ice).

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So if the gladiator hits and enemy with -200 due to defense , he will get total of the ff.

normal attack damage = 800

ice damage "pure damage" so cant be reduced unless there is ice def rate= 125

so total of 925 damage per normal attack.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

what if i use sword dance which deals 2000 damage to enemy - 200 for defense, will it deal the ff. damage or will there be a multiplier damage of element per skill?

sword dance = 1800

ice damage = 125

total is 1925 damage

or does the ice damage will be increase due to skill?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

hope you understand my question, thanks :)

also if it only works with normal attack, i can see why priest are so OP.

with diffusion they can attack elemental damage x 3 which can penetrate enemy with high defense.

1. All skills and default attacks except "summoned skills" have the same elemental damage that you have.

2. Skills do not get boosted elemental damage.

Example of a summoned skill for you is the wrestler skill from overlords (Raising storm), it does 0 elemental damage.

So that means the normal attack and sword dance will have same additional 175 "pure ice damage"  :/

Thank you for the reply..
