I think the deal behind the rush to get the Doram update has more to do with iRO staff wanting to put an end to the issues surrounding gender-locked accounts.

 

They don't need to release the entire update to do that kind of stuff (i think),seems really crazy if they need to do this ._.

 

I think the real deal is,cats=money.Why bio 5 headgear,Expanded Class Balance,Free quest gears,New areas to explore,cool systems or city updates? We can just have a cat to milk weaboos .

 

I still hate this class,gravity ignored the entire RO lore and all the expanded classes (specially TK/Super Novice) to create this cat,then the class is stupidly broken in PvP/WoE. Not even talking about the new sprites comming with this class and my favorite class is still waiting for 5~6 animation fix since 2015(when i first reported it).

 

RO has a lot of cool races and they decide to put cats from the Malangdo Island(cof cof p2w island cof cof).

They kind of do since the update itself is needed to put an end to gender-locked accounts entirely. As far as I'm aware, RO is the only game that WP hosts where they have to put in extra time to resolve issues with certain services due to the accounts being gender-locked. They also have to spend more time training GMs to remember this aspect specifically for RO as they don't have to worry about it for their other games.

kRO had 14 years to revamp the account system to allow players to make characters of both genders on the same account, but they decided not to do anything about it until they came up with Dorams.

They were released at the same time, but that doesn't mean the patches are entirely related.

 

A doramless character creation screen with the gender selection does exist.

 

If all content that was released at the same time on kRO was forcefully bundled together, we would have had Nightmare Toy Factory 3 years ago when the Shadow Sets came out :v Both were put on Sakray and released on kRO mains on the same days.

 

Not that it matters, the push for Doram is something that kRO wants, and iRO staff has wanted for a while. The entire intent behind Doram was to attract players to the game. You make headlines and word of mouth about a new class (a new race at that even) a lot more than you do a new map or new instance.

 

The redesign of Prontera (done for nostalgia purposes), and the Doram race was entirely done to get people talking about RO again. Did it work? Partially. I hear more about how disgusting Doram looks and feels for the game than I hear praises for it though. But it did certainly get people remembering RO exists.

 

It's a shame the race looks completely out of place, and the skills and even the place they come from is nothing more than a badly written joke.

I'm curious to see how this looks as I've only ever seen the creation screen with the Doram option.

Despite that, I'm doubtful kRO will hand over the creation screen update without the Dorams so we're getting it whether we like it or not.

Forgot what server it was given to, would have to dig up the screenshot.

 

But yeah, kRO won't let Doram be delayed or shelved. Even if it's an incomplete mess :v.

I guess Doram is made to lure in people that want something different. I honestly think RO could still appeal to modern players if things were handled correctly on kRO's end.

Lawl, important meta changing headgears from Nightmare Biolabs pushed back to next year to put in some -_-ty cats instead.
