Question about runes.

I'd like to know if we need to upgrade a rune when it's equipped on a gear or you can only upgrade it when it's not equipped on a gear?

You can do it either way. Check this wiki page and also this one for more info on the Paradigm Runes.

Quick answer here: You can empower (upgrade) them in both cases

Either not equipped or equipped.

Maybe it's my superstition but i've always found runes unequipped easier to refine lol. But yes technically both have the same % of success.

yes you can but the pvp and pvm bonuses dont work if u switch them

Of course you can.

But as he said there, Runes with PvM or PVP bonus will matter: the PvM bonus won't work in PvP, and vice versa.

I personally have 3 runes: Valor x1, Honor x1 and Unique x1 ^^

Actually, PvM Runes do work in PvP Matches [if you're only counting damage towards summons, or things like the crystals]. In other words, the Bonus is still active, but PvM Bonus obviously doesn't work if you're hitting a player, players are not mobs, it's fairly logical. 

What about rune for healpower, u want to heal mobs? lol

All runes with there bonus work for PVM and PVP,  sometimes this runes will give you resistance to PVM or PVP, this stats obv is not used.

I can use a pvm rune that give me HP in my PVP armor, and recieve this HP bonus, same goes for stun and mute resistance or things like Def/Crit def.

Everyone was referring to PvM/PvP Offensive/Defense stat, not the others.

The others are meant to work on everything.

Anyway, I just empowered a single Rune(Face) earlier today. Will the Substats of the mask that i am wearing will be gone?

yes, the substats will be gone when you have a rune in it.

They won't be 'gone' necessarily, they'll just be 'hidden' and inactive due to the rune. If you use a separation drill to pop the rune out of the item's socket, the sub-stats will still be there.
