When u Turn gene u still be lvl 99 and for the homun S only gene can get them once your homun is lvl 99 second form and even if u dont change it can go over lvl 99 and no even if u turn gene your homun will be the same lvl u leave it before.

Edit u can be lvl 99 gene and just max lvl ur Homun to 150

Just because your Gene levels it does not mean that your Homun levels too.

Just like you can have a 99 Alchemist with a lvl 30 Homun, you can have a 175 Gene with a level 1 Homun or lvl 99 Homun.

The only thing that changes with you becoming Gene is that your Homun can level past 99 if it kills monsters and thus gets experience.

If you want to be Genetic, but still need loyalty points just bring your Homun out while in a town. Since towns have no mobs, it won't get any exp and just stay at 99 or whatever other level it had.

Also if you have an Alchemist/Biochemist your Homun still gets experience at level 99. It just cannot level to 100.

Similar to how your Alchemist/Biochemist still gets base exp after hitting 99, but is unable to reach level 100.

okay thanks for the clarification

i'm still a bit confused because the person i talked to made it seemed like she was a gene

AND

could make the homun stay 99 in form 2 like it was MAXED level

because the homun had an aura

but maybe its different for homun idk

for now i'll just go by what kubikyuu said thanks

I don't know about the aura thing, but I just wanted to add that you can go kill monsters as geneticist and keep the homunculus with you and feed it, but you have to put it on idle so it doesn't fight. You can manually control your homunculus and put it on idle like this: "Alt + T: Standby, Idle/Passive mode, cancels all commands and returns to master". Btw, be aware that you have to do this every time you change maps or use fly wing.

You can see more info on irowiki here:

If you are talking about the shiny blue aura where you would see homun S with it, you CAN lvl your homun past lvl 99 they do not stop gaining exp until 150, but if you pass lvl 99 before you reach homun S you will lose the chance to gain extra buffs from change to homun S

Question.
How do you get that blue aura on homun and chara?

So that is mean i have to be homun S before my homun reach lvl99?

Your Homun gets an aura as 99 normal Homun and as 150 Homun S.

Your Character gets a blue aura at 99 and a yellow aura at 175. There used to be a blue aura at 150 back when 150 was max level.

It is not possible to have a Homun S before lvling your Homun to 99.

i think thats the gene with homunculus vanil form 1 not evolved that has wider (bigger that 99 aura) blue aura. I think its already Lv150 to have that aura.
