Hello everyone,

Really looking to start up a character. My objective is to be able to do some small scale MVPs, be semi useful in groups, and not have to spend a ton of money chugging potions. Traditionally a have played Knight but I am hoping for a change of pace and have been eyeing the blacksmith.

They get a few AOE skills, are able to get discounted potions, can sell and craft gear, get some attack speed and good group buffs overall it seems like?

Really hoping to get some tips from some blacksmith vets. I do not want to go full forger but maybe like a hybrid split around 60str, 50agi, 60dex, 40 luk 20 int.

Would cart revolution do enough damage to still be useful or does it not scale well enough? Can a blacksmith compete even slightly with a knight with usefulness?

What kind of builds would you go with for someone looking to be a jack of all trades? What weapon type would you recommend?

TY so much for advice <3

Surely someone mains a blacksmith that they dont just leach eh? =P

I am looking on forums and for battleforger seems like 60 dex is too much since BS gets a hit buff.

Looking more like 40 dex with 60 or so luck for crit bonus.

Now I am wondering if I should main str or agility. Agility with flee and never getting hit seems like a money lifesaver.

Anyone play a str using cart revo. Does the knockback make it easier to not take a ton of damage?

Also does cart revo even scale off str? Classic ro wiki states cart weight and no other scaling stats.

I'm not any blacksmith veteran, but I wouldn't do a battleforger because it will end up being poorly feasible for battling and for forging.

If you wanna step into forging you should dedicate time making a dedicated one, otherwise you will just spend resources on failed attempts to craft ( can still fail even on a dedicated one)

It is possible to get cart revolution thought you need 2 grape juice for the quest and there is no juice npc so they will cost you a fortune to get.  Second class quest skills like greed are not in the game yet though you can buy greed scrolls from kafra shop.

I don't think blacksmith is the class for you.  They are the only class in the game with zero defensive skills.  As such chugging potions will be you life.  They are also not a jack of all trades class.  forging is a specific build with specific skills and stats needed.  A forger is not a battlesmith and a battlesmith is not a forger.  You would have to pick one.  I do not know about there mvp potential is, I was never into that plus now things are so different then when I played.  I played a battlesmith before renewal and really enjoyed it, don't know what renewal changed so can't give detailed advice.  I do remember having really good damage output, max attack speed, and powerful single target damage, but I also remember spending a ton on pots and in the cost of the skills themselves.

Theyre debatably the most expensive class to play, especially if you mvp/pvp/woe. Greed helps huge if its implemented as a free skill. Mammo is your bread and butter and you will need a ton of money before you go into battle vs mvp pvp woe. Gear costs a ton. You will need multiple weapons. Chug as many pots as a BB knight, with less effectivness. Its a rich mans class unless youre pure pvm. It also helps a ton to have endow for leveling.Cart revo is only so good. If you can gear them and have tons for Mammo then get ready to do some serious damage, tank a ton, carry a kafra load and stun a ton. No long range attack though, and sage will kill your buffs and make you much weaker.

I'm not even taking mammomite on my not-yet-blacksmith, it simply costs too much money to be useful unless you have zeny pouring out of your... armpits.

They're a good class to bring into parties with an aoe stun and buffs, especially if your knight (and later monk) buds are using some kind of mace like sword maces.

Biochems have the excuse to throw away their money on acid bombs because they're just that absurdly powerful.

I main a Blacksmith here in Re:start

Battle smith : Noobseo lvl 87

Pure Forger: Nameless lvl 81

here are some tips, Battlesmith in Re:start

*Cart revolution is a lifesaver : the aspd and AOE you get from this is insane

*Save up for an elemental 2handed axe (wind if you are about lvl 60~70= Byalan) (ice if you are 80+ Pasana/Highorc/magma)

---shameless plug , buy one from Nameless

*dont get int on a smith go Str, Agi(if you cannot spam WOE pots)and more aspd, Vit then Dex, luk is also good if you go crit due to the new accessory we have (merchant acce +5crit)

*most of your damage will come from the weapon attack and not your str (str for me is just primarily for weight limit and secondary is damage)

*snake head is the cheapest thing you can buy to increase your damage by 25%

*undershirt+pantie combo and then the merchant accessory for the str+1 and crit +5 (good value for 200k zenny)

*Mammonite is very expensive at the moment , use cart revo its half the damage but 2x the aspd

Forger (99dex 99 luk)

have at least 5m to fund yourself Mat

Emperium anvil is a must to have any success below lvl 80 (unless you are super lucky in real life), I did it with golden anvil and the outcome is just break even or a loss in profit.

have a leecher(alt account) to lvl you.

Nice good tips.... RIght now i have invested in chain mail and manteau for the defense. Would you recommend pantie/undershirt instead? I was thinking crit would not be as necessary because i didnt think crit and snake head could both proc. SHould I focus on maxing STR if it isnt as important anymore or should i put a bit more into agi for aspd or luk if crit is still worth?

How much dex would you recomend for a battleforger vs MVPs?
