I am not sure if somebody else already made a proposal but yeah I will just bring it up the table.

This feature to lock the items while on combat is just so outdated and annoying. It sometimes make PVM / Dungeon runs inconvenient or restrict a person's style when doing PVP.

Although some solo high-end PVP for non tank/def built toons doesn't last 5 seconds on contact, to be able to switch to shield or max mspeed gears can be a life saver. It can also lead to different play styles and makes group combat more fun.

This was changed due to people abusing stacking passives and other un-mentionable reasons few years ago. Personally I don't have a leaning one way or another on the issue, but it'd be interesting to see what people comment on the topic. Go forth, and propagate thought.

I guess I am too young on the server to know that there were issues about it that led them to apply this kind of feature. My bad.

Well if it will only breed more bugs then I will just have to get used with those minor annoying switching problems

It would be abused like it was in the past, it's a bad idea.

I would totaly vote for being able to switch just Jewerly in combat, rings/necklace/earrings, stuff like that, but actual armor... thats a bad idea...

Actually, the problem was 100% from switching weapons, not armor or accessories. It had to do with the [at the then time new] passive procs / stacking buffs. It allowed you to take all the high powered, long CD skills, and cycle between weapons with only passives and 'common skills', and once the high powered buffs ran out, swap weapon, and pop the next high powered CD.

An Example.

Back then you could get Berserk on a Champ.

Pop it, and Soul Wreck.

Once you cast SW, you Swapped to Axe, used Final Strike,

Swap to Spear, pop Longinous, and Dodge Down,

Swap back to Sword, and SW again,
-Repeat Cycle-

Or

Crossbow Scout:

Pop Guard/Reflect, Use Stun Arrow, Web Arrow, Poison Arrow, Daze, Status Downs

Swap to Bow

Impact, Phoenix, Stun -had separate CD's back then...-, Status Downs, Poison, Ice until Stacked, Camo

Swap Back to xBow,

Repeat.

etc etc.

There was just a lot of issues with how it was launched.

Armors, thematically, I feel is pushing the limit? I can understand having an 'off weapon set' in some games, or a gear loadout, but I have to agree with Cortiz and say being able to switch jewelry should be enough to add some strategy, without making it about who has the most sets in storage for maximum potential problem solving on the fly. It, just get's messy.

Soooo yea, gotta Agree, Jewelry seems fine, not so much a fan of the other stuff. -even though I do miss my hybrids, sincerely-

I have no idea about the other issues but from my perspective, switching weaps (like what you have mentioned above) to use the high atk skills is like... more fun isn't it? Like clerics dropping aoe or tanks that go wild from stun lock to 2 hand aoe debuffer...

Oh well I guess that's just me who wasn't even born back then  :heh:

It sounds fun, until you're the one getting 100% CC'd for 20 seconds + every time there's a group engagement. Trust me, it was pretty broken having Scouts with mirror phantasm -pre nerf- and double stealths. Or having Champions with Protection + Enraged Berserk. And don't even get me started on how bad Raiders would be with full DoT's and Evasive Guard, Bloody Assault and Freezing Assault.

It's not like you can put all 250 points on all the skills/passives because people will eventually have to sacrifice something to get the top tier skills.

Getting cc locked could be prevented by giving the toon a few seconds of immunity from the certain debuff you got. The issue about stacking buffs can also be toned down if those buffs won't work if they were to use a different weapon from the the skill's prerequisite like the hawker 10% crit buff that only works when the user is using bow and 5% if the user switched to katar/dual.

While I'm at the matter of limited skill points, they can add max passive/masteries as a requirement for getting the 2nd tier Active skills.

Let's take the Bloody Assault as an example. If they were to add the maxed passives/mastery as pre requisite for 2nd class Active skills then people would have to spend 100 skill points + all the other points which is already required to unlock the skill.

---ps; sorry for double posting I forgot about the edit thingy
