The real question is: Why do people still bother botting on a less populated server? Oh wait, Chaos has them too.
The end.

They're farming strawberries from the nearby Payon field maps to sell.
Yes they are prohibited and every so often they do a sweep of maps and ban accounts, unfortunately because it is all automated they quickly remake themselves and get a newbie character farming again, so you see more of them at lower level areas.
When Ragnarok Online was first released there were no bots, but eventually the source code for the game got leaked and with that programmers could tap into the code to create bots etc. Manually removing bots is sadly a losing battle but automatic measures proposed to block bots have encountered problems as they would also disturb real players.

Well sometimes you see veterans use elder branches or bloody branches to summon high-level mobs/bosses to sweep the floor against Bots, the bots would lie on the ground. It was funny when it happened, although it becomes annoying when I want to level up my alt manually since it also hurt legitimate users.

By about I faintly recall seeing bots all over prontera by 2004/5, which was back when the whole " chinese gold farmer" phenomenon in mmorpgs became a term that people first got acquainted with. Nowadays, its anyone that just wants to sell things for real money transactions, which not only go against the rules for most games, but also are risky as theres a lot of untrustworthy thieves that take advantage of advertising such exchanges. Still sucks though .
