I mean, you didn't really believe cash shop would be cosmetic only, right?

So that was IRL cash they were throwing at it? But hundreds of people were buying up those items like mad and then just wasting them (some literally just spammed potions in the shop for the visual effect). Was there some free period or were they literally lighting their money on fire to make the screen shake a bit?

well alot of koreans are pissed that they lied to them. the boxes are free for testing purposes. but atleast half of the testers uninstalled as soon as they seen the random boxes.

there is no point of having a priest when you could just use those potions (there is a buff that heals you over time)

you lose 10% base/job exp on death instead of 1% and you reach job lv.50 at base lv.30 lol

you can get a total of 3 random options from dropped items (1 option effect is white 2 options are blue and 3 options are gold)

Ah ok, some were for free then. It wouldn't make much sense for people to pay money then spam them endlessly.

I agree, it's a shady move, but when I heard it mentioned that it'd be "cosmetic only", I just mentally affixed a "for the first few weeks" at the end of the statement.

i forgot to mention dropped items with random options are worth 10 zeny so you just end up dropping it if it's crap lol :p_swt:

lucky boxes were removed sooner than they planned (original date nov. 22nd). the potions have been retrieved. they claim that the buffs potions were only in the box for testing satisfaction purposes for quest rewards.

i honestly don't want to see them as quest rewards either you deal 3x more damage than you normally would so you end up out dpsing three people.

not to mention there will also be three different vip status packs..  :sob:

New Quest Window on RO Zero

Spoiler

I noticed that from the quest window you can press a button and navigation will automatically lead you to the quest end point. I don't know how I feel about what is basically quest-compass + GPS being spoon fed to the player, but I guess RO isn't much about questing in the conventional sense, so why not.

Ragnarok: Zero in general seems to be much more noob friendly, to the point of labeling NPCs above their heads what they do.

More and more players want a WoW-like experience as the years go by. Not much we can do about it.

I think they based this on an interview with random people in Korea. That was posted here if I'm not mistaken.

It was about how RO could become noob friendly.

The concept of Zero doesn't sound too bad. My question is, isn't this what Re:Start is supposed to be? Reading through the links, it seems Zero will eventually lead up to Renewal's current features. But that is the same concept Re:Start. I understand there are significant differences, but the basic theory is the same. You get people to invest into Re:Start, then announce Zero - that is just stupid.

However, my real issue is that Gravity can't seem to focus on one (maybe two) versions of the game. How many variations of RO exist now? Renewal (Chaos and Thor, which divides that population), Classic, Re:Start, Journey (it's a spin-off, but treated like a core variation), RO2, Mobile, and Zero. I'll be fair and not include the spin-offs. That's seven games of basically the same thing - grinding in generally the same places. The changes coming with Zero isn't really significant enough for it to be called a new game. They're really just updates. Re:Start, Zero, Class, Renewal, Journey, despite being marketed as new games, are all the same thing with tweaks and changes. RO2 would be considered a new game, but it doesn't seem to be doing too well. I really wish they would just focus on Mobile, and kill the other games.

Of course, in the end, one really has to wonder how much of iRO/WarpPortal community's voice is really heard by Gravity.

Would either of you kind people know that (in Rag: Zero) if you hover over the stats in the Alt+Q window, what information is displayed in the tool tip? Is it just "AGI increases flee and ASPD" or does it give any additional info like specific ASPD given?

Maybe Ragnarok Zero is just kRO's version of Re:START? Gravity KR might have seen the reaction Re:START got and thought "Hey, let's do that for kRO!"

Looking around a bit more, that does seem to be the case. Still, it doesn't change the fact that Gravity/WarpPortal are spreading their player-base so thin. Considering the game's age and population, they really should filter out what doesn't work and focus on what really has potential. If they're trying to please everybody, then as the saying goes, you please nobody.

it's basically the item farming version of re:start but a copy&paste of renewal with level cap, you have to complete quests for base levels and they also grant you buff potions. fever field (dynamic field i believe not sure why they are using a different name) drops mythril ores that is used to craft costume wings and perhaps other costumes as well. you must first make it into a mythril by crafting condensed elunium (enriched elunium) with elunium and zeny. so if a wing requires 75 mythrils it's likely 750 ores and 75 elunium.

here are the three cash shop premium packages, they last 1 month when use the box.

account package - increases experience, and drop rate by 30% reduces death penalty by 50% doubles storage capacity for all characters on your account.

essential package - 70 dollars worth of teleport and buff service for an affordable price! it gives 20% experience / drop rate as a bonus. (it's what it says) provides Morning Dew of Yggdrasil that is required to teleport to a map or use the buff service (blessing of yggdrasil: all stat +7 Atk +30 MATK +30 HIT +5 FLEE +5 (1 dew per teleport or service, it does not include the buff duration.)

hunting package - provides 50% experience and 100% drop rate that lasts 1 hour, twice a day for free! (that's what it says lol)

remote shop that allows you to buy/sell at any place and remote storage feature that allows you to deposit / withdraw at any place is included.

they could have just said bubblegum x2 battle manual x2 (which they did but after a wall of text) ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

[additional service] uses jelstar as the cost and provides the following service - bubblegum or battle manual for 1 hour (2 jelstars) and bubblegum or battle manual for 24 hours (25 jelstars) this package might be the only way to recieve bonus exp/drop rate.

The real hook is that you get a magic stick that summons a cat girl. And a bell that summons a maid. (not a joke.)

From their SEC report submitted October of this year:

The Company expects to begin a service for Ragnarok Zero in Korea during the fourth quarter of 2017. Ragnarok Zero is a new version of Ragnarok Online, which has been additionally developed to reflect various feedbacks from global Ragnarok Online users. Gravity plans to offer Ragnarok Zero on a new game server in Korea and to expand its service area in 2018.

So perhaps Revo-Classic/Re:Start are the beta tests for Ragnarok: Zero.

Also, we're apparently going to get Ragnarok: Renaissance soon.

Ragnarok R, a card RPG mobile game

The Company plans to launch Ragnarok R in United States and Canada during the fourth quarter of 2017 and in more markets during 2018.

So it just says that AGI influences those stats, it doesn't give how much it does it?

Thank you for checking!

Next will be a moba RO.

- Mini Lord/Lord = any of Mini boss/MVP monsters (random appearance or custom setup)

- Minions =  any monster's race (Orcs, Kobolds, Porings, etc)

- Heroes = all Bio 2/3/4 mobs, Ragnarok Manhwa/Tactics/Anime chars to divide class skills, Those post-Eclage group quests from Wolf costume. Design some characters/heroes for expanded class+Doram

- Hero's skins = all existing costumes and wings

I honestly will play that over recycled web/mobile/restart RPG that will be forgotten in matter of weeks. Not to mention in most MOBA you'll get bored with same monsters again and again....  A lot of RPG elements can still be inserted to MOBA (equipments/card shop, build your stat+skills, guild, cities as your rank division hang out)

Many friends I know quitting RO when WoE become not fun/P2W so they would like a PvP based game without thousand hours of grinding....The only problem is if MOBA is not that popular in Korea at all, because Gravity only develop things that Korean/Japanese like......
