Will MobScarf ever make a (non scam like last time) return?

How'd I miss this one?

 

SSDD, tho.. been bitching about this for years.

 

Because it's Warp Portal, because they're a company and they want money, because the less likely you are to succeed the more money they make as you continue to gamble out of frustration.

 

You ever go to a casino? Play a slot machine? You get all those little pay offs in between the failures, creates an illusion of success, makes you think you'll come out ahead, keeps you gambling longer, more likely to spend more money. Hence why you'll get +8 tons of times, but that +9, +10 those are rare cause the harder it is for you to get, the more money they get out of you. And if you do get that rare jackpot, who wins? You? No, they do. You just spent 100+ USD for an item that has no real value.

 

Feed yer kids, pay yer bills, buy healthcare, do something constructive with your money.

That guy lost something like 300 bucks trying for a single item, and failed.

 

If you want to stay on top in this game the only way to do so is via gambling, even more so with the OP OCP gear that supposedly wasn't going to be returning. While it's never said directly, it's always a matter of gambling away hundreds trying, or risk never seeing the item up for sale again.

 

Compounding the pressure of rarity and the rush of gambling is a dangerous thing, and time and again freemium MMOs use this tactic to milk people with a mental illness, a serious addiction, for thousands.

 

This -_- right here, this "calculator" does nothing more than enable their addiction, justifying spending money people don't have to fuel an addiction, in hopes of what? Phat lewtz that have no value, nor application in real life?

 

 

Gambling too much, while un-equatable to murder, is still the most common of the problems created by MMO addiction. Don't believe that people can become addicted to MMOs? Don't believe that addicts will throw free will and common sense out the window for said MMO and do horrible things? Don't believe that it can cause serious harm to themselves and others? Oh and, let's not forget the boy who was tied up in an attic, and was tortured to death, literally having limbs and other chunks of flesh hacksawed off over a loan in an MMO that he didn't pay back. A loan more or less equivalent to $0.50 USD. I'd post a link, but the pictures are a bit too graphic to give a direct link on the WP forums.

 

Now, since I clearly need to connect the dots for you, ask yourself, if this -_- happens because of MMOs, what happens that's off the radar, that doesn't make the news? Are people gambling too much? Yes. Is it possible these people have an addiction, albeit mild? Yes. Are people wasting valuable resources that could go towards something more conducive to survival, even more so being able to thrive? Hell yes.

Even if they put Mob back, some rich people would probably try to hoard all mobs from the market again to control the price.

 

A better solution is a permanent Mob in cash shop. Although I think Toy Syringe is better for new players than Mob lol

I don't understand how the OP wasn't able to get one. I got one when I was literally not playing this game back then. So how come you couldn't obtain one?

I find it funny how people ignored the gambling elements in RO for years and now suddenly everyone cares

I dont care about someone's addiction. Survival of the fittest, let Darwin decide. No amount of dev protection will replace common sense.

That being said...

I'd like to see Mob Scarf being added back to the game via raffler, along with KBC and sunglasses. If people want it back this much, lets make use of it to sink billions of zeny :heh:

I would love all OCP gears to be available in game via good old hard work.

 

It would be nice if at least "core" OCP items could return in an yearly quest that would reward players a special box which would give one of the old (e.g.: at least 6-OCP old) random OCP item.

 

By "core" OCP items I mean items like Magician's Glove, Pororoca Shoes, AB Ring, EDA, FDA, Cylinder, Syringe, etc. This could include godly OCP gears by a very low chance.

Uhmm this is a Free to Play game ... so what do you expect ? change it to Buy to Play then we can have a good chat about this OCP items

 

WP need money for running servers, and the OCP still better than Lootboxes from another games, this is what i personally think

Yup lootbox still a lootbox, but until now all free games are like that, maybe we can only hope for the implementation of banning lootbox like in europe because it encourage gamble they say ... the question is when that is gonna happen ? so wen can only stick to OCP for now

Knowing WP, I have a feeling that it is guaranteed to be RNG if the idea is implemented, but I hope I will be wrong.

X amount of silvervine + quest (i still hate the quest aspect because of the bots, maybe some kind of kill quest instead of item gather)

Ive burned 250$ cash and didnt get mob, 85% crap loots that didnt cover the worth of just selling WP at all. Was one of some reasons why I dont bother to login this game anymore, but Im still a bit interested in playing my warlock, whos 150 and ready to go NCT, where gear matters.

 

Checked month after month after month only for the OCPs, it makes no sense to reimplement stuff like toy syringe (I think 3 times now?) but not such a KEY ITEM for pretty much every magic class, which is barely played by anyone anyways because braindead one spell spam is so much more fun.

 

They either reimplement or I still wont bother to login again or pay money for their stuff.

And I didnt invest a single $ yet I still got my scarf ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

 

 

KEY ITEM

 

I'm pretty sure people were grinding NCT prior to the arrival of mob scarf and were fine. Mobscarf only turned the threads switch from "im able to oneshot clocks" to "Im able to hit 999999999 on clocks and oneshot arcs without buffs"

I wouldn't oppose at all, as long as all these old items have their chance for a better return. The fact is that every new OCP increases a lot the price of old items because a lot of OCPs compete for the players' cash, and some of them are way more attractive than others. For example, the price of Pororoca Shoes has increased a lot. I remember buying my Mob Scarf for 1.3 B, it went up to 1.6~1.8 B in the first Fire Sale after that, it was over 2 B in the last fire sale, and now some people are trying to sell it for 3.5 B. It would be nice if these items had an in game return.

 

They could make like Re:Start.

 

X amount of silvervine + quest (i still hate the quest aspect because of the bots, maybe some kind of kill quest instead of item gather)

 

Depending on the item, I'd favor a big and complex quest, requiring VIP subscription or a price in silvervines to start, non-repeatable on an account base, some cooldowns in the middle of the quest, a lot of killing, some rare item collecting, etc. At least trying to timidly mimic the making of a godly item.
