But for iRO, which doesn't cater to a specific region, localizing doesn't work because not everyone will understand American references and sensitivities. The only reason iRO feels the need to localize is because the servers are located in the USA and therefore has to comply with local regulations and sensitivities. Some localizations make sense, like the Freyjan worshippers in Rachel, but changing something like Apple of Idunn to Song of Lutie makes absolutely no sense in any context.

Localizing makes sense if the publisher is catering to one region, like how aRO localized Crusader as Templar in their version of the game due to cultural reasons.

Make me curious. What's localization of Freyjan Worshiper for IRO?

Why is Tanos become Tartanos?

Why is Tanos become Tartanos?
I wonder too.
Tartanos is the name of Sakray's sword.
Tanos is the serie of weapons that are crafted to counter it (Tartanos sword).

The Freyjan sprites originally have a white hood on them that resembles the ones worn by the KKK. That's why Urstialla's dialogue image doesn't show up when you talk to her for the Mage in the Ice Dungeon quest, her image shows her wearing the hood.

Some Korean dictionaries I use translates the weapons as matching the power of Tartanos, not countering. Also the effects of the weapons mimic the effect of Tartanos itself. On top of that, the image file in the game refers to the demon sword as Tartanos. So everything seems to point to the weapons as being copies of Tartanos' power, yet the translations are all over the place.

So, it's Tanos or Tartanos, just nothing to do with Thanatos?

Lore-wise, it certainly seems that way. The only surefire way to know would be for someone to compare the names in the original manhwa to the ones in kRO. But something tells me not a lot of kRO players own volumes of the manhwa, so maybe we'll never know.

There are english translated copies on manga sites.

Translation issues are in the manhwa as well, since some translations have Geffenia known as Alfheim.

So now I confuse between localization, translation and transliteration. lol
Hmm so.
Performers skill, Monk skills, Payon castles : Localization.
Proper name : Transliteration.
Skill / item description : Translation.
Isn't it?
In euRo isnt everything located. (example : Almighty or God Snake)

Ash is also revered in bRO, since they name some weapons after your name

The developers may have thought nothing of it when they designed the Freyjan worshippers, but in the American context the worshipper hoods have a very different connotation.

Another thing that bothers me is Bijou card's prefix.
It can be translated from Korean as 'Legion' or 'Corps' (or whatever that means soldier army).
IRO chose Corps but they accidentally added 'e',either intends or not. So the meaning is changed drastically.
Can you correct this? lol

That's why Urstialla's dialogue image doesn't show up when you talk to her for the Mage in the Ice Dungeon quest, her image shows her wearing the hood.
In the first place. Ayothaya had Tao Gunka as local MVP.
But before this patch was implemented to TRO. TRO players realized that Tao has been inspired from Lord Buddha statue's head. So when the patch come. There was no MVP in Ayothaya yet. Later KRO created new MVP Lady Tanee based on folklore tale of banana tree dryad. And move Tao to comodo cave since then.
So can we call this 'localization'?

Yes, that would be considered a localization.
