Name of item with issue: Geneticist Brewing/Cooking Manuals

Type of Issue (choose): Items' descriptions or missing feature?
Describe the issue:  Dunno if this has already been discussed or not, but is it intended for Geneticist brewing manuals to not have a "Read" function?
Because only two of the manuals have the brewing ingredients listed in the description, while the rest don't, forcing the player to check brewing recipes online instead.
- "How to Make High Quality Potions" shows different variations of the actual potions' names which makes reading it confusing. Different variations of some brewing ingredients' names are also shown which don't match their actual names in-game.
- The text also needs to be re-arranged to be more readable and easier to follow, especially because the in-game preview wraps the text into such a narrow space.
- "How To Grow Plant Genes" seems passable enough but can be improved.
- The remaining 3 brewing manuals only contain flavor text.

Name of Item: Old Detachment's Ring

 

Description: Adds 1% chance of buffing the user for 10 seconds when using Counter Slash; Str + 200.

 

Note: I've tried it and after using the skill, it actually gives the 200 Str regardless.

From what I've understood translating this site https://rotool.gungh....php?item=32242, It is indeed at 100%. Please look into this. I haven't bought this item because of the description, Thanks.

 

Not sure when or why the % was added, could have been an error or it is missing the zeros, regardless I will remove the chance as there is no indication of it on the actual jRO description.

Describe the issue: I want to suggest re-writing the descriptions of battle manuals to more accurately portray the correct bonus that they give out and help avoid confusion.

That is mainly because 'increase by' as a phrase often refers to addition on top of a base amount. (a + n)

Example:

5 Apples increased by 3 = 8
5 Apples increased by +300% = 20

So when you say "Increases the rate of experience gained by 300%", people interpret it as:
"x + (300% of x)"
 
 
> What I believe we should instead use is:

"...Increases the rate of experience gained to n%..." as seen in HE Battle Manual Plus

Here, 'increase to' as a phrase often refers to addition resulting in a new amount. (a + b = is now n)

Example:

5 Apples increased to 8 = 8
5 Apples increased to +300% = 15

This is much closer to the items' actual effects, like with BMX3 where 300% is seen as a final result, but the actual bonus to exp is +200%
 
> As an additional measure for clarity, you could always state the actual bonus at the bottom of the description.

Wont that just bring more confusion? Since there are 2 number in 1 item, 300% and 200%

I would like to suggest since everything is additive, keep using increases by x%, instead of increases to x%, which makes it seems multiplied

So the BMX3 one will be increases by 200%

Yep that can work too, actually.

My suggestions were made to prioritize retaining the rate displayed in the text, but you're right about the additive thing and how players usually compute final rates.

I'm guessing it'll be confusing to change either way because the weird pairing of the word (in the wrong usage) or the wrong rate (displaying final result instead of actual bonus) has always been the case for such a long time.

Applied further fixes to reported issues, older reports are still pending as it requires staff checks.

In regarding battle manuals, I am not going to apply the changes yet as it was discussed some time ago the value of 300% in the case of BMx3 makes more sense than the 200%. I'll need to find that older discussion and see what's up before I get more confused with numbers than I am already.

yes please, if you find the discussion, please post it here. Ashuckel said that the exp modifier all get changed from formerly multiplicative to additive at patch 14.2 or 14.3, so all modifier should use the word "by" instead of "to"

All right, so the 10 days box cannot be stacked being a Kafra item as well as other technical and logistic reasons. The 2 and 5 days being stackable is an exception.. If that makes any sense.

Doesnt make any sense

If anything making every Kafra item stackable is a good thing for people, easier for them to organize their storage

the only effect for +5 and +7 is

Increases the damage of Meteor Assault by an additional 1% for every base level.

 

This line should be on +0 (its on a different section on the jRO description)

Increases the damage of Meteor Assault by an additional 30% per level of Poison React known.
