Well, i just came back to this game for about a month or two, the game is gaining back its former glory, and BAM!!!!

WHY DID YOU WARPPORTAL DECIDE TO TERMINATE ALL GAMES AND SERVICES IN ALMOST EVERY EUROPEAN COUNTRY ???

I think everyone who plays this game and all other games need an easy-to-understand reason for this event.

A new law and policies regarding online data was passed and is preparing to launch in Europe over the next month. This affects virtually all online activities for not just WarpPortal, but for tons of gaming and social-media companies. These prevent the North American based WarpPortal for being able to handle account data of European players affected by this new law.

It's not something they want to do. But WarpPortal likely has zero alternatives as they're not as massive of a gaming company as others who can accommodate for this sudden change.

Right. Guess the hype has been killed. I hope the accounts will be kept when the EU falls so I can play again.

The game has been killed* they better find a way to let European players play (with their already existing accounts) otherwise bye bye dragon saga for real.

the new european law that is about to pass, makes it so companies that store your private data online (name address email address etc), need to employ a data protection officer to regulate what the private data is being used for, to make sure it is not sold to third party marketing companies, and that if any piece of data leaves the company, it has to be specially accounted for and justified.

If they were to sell our data to marketing companies, without a good reason or without our consent , they could be incurring fines.

Makes you wonder what warpportal is using our contact details for, that would voucher them kicking us out from their servers.

Very fishy if you ask me..

I honestly believe they just shot themselves in the foot.

When all EU players are gone, half the population will be gone, and seeing the server being dead, wouldn't surprise me if most of the players left , quit the game as well.

Warpportal if you ever read your forums : all you had to do is quit selling out data to marketing companies, and install a data protection chart we have to agree to when logging in, and recruiting a data protection officer.

you are sacrificing your income , to save yourself recruiting one person and modifying your website slightly.

Shame. On. You.

it says that all the european accounts will be blocked. the accounts themselves.

so I am assuming you will be able to create a new account with a vpn and play, but the existing accounts will all be blocked.

I hope at least they will allow us to get everything we lost back if we can create new accounts. Otherwise half of the players will be lost. I personally will not play again if I lose everything I have worked for. I say again: half of the players... Seriously do something if you actually care for what will happen to the game... Or to warpportal I guess.

well they had 2 years to adjust to the new Eu regulations. I personally consider this to be the death of Warpportal as I can't imagine that they will be able to endure a 25%-40% player base loss across all their games. I think it will be even worse, as I think it will cause a ripple effect of many players stopping to play because their former European friends and guildmates will be unable to play.

For EU people considering to continue: Sell all your stuff, use capsules etc. make a new account, including warpportal one with a VPN from Russia or Turkey just to be safe. Switzerland should also work but their wording isn't very clear. Trade everything over to the new account. Make sure you always access the new account with the VPN connected to a non EU country.

"All WarpPortal game access and account access will be blocked by regional IP. "

I think they meant you cant login from eu IP, not meaning those account which created from eu will die too, right?
they didn't mention delete all data of those account from eu I guess?

If they don't delete the EU accounts than Warpportal will be still able to be sued. So I highly doubt they won't

Can someone tell us what we should do?
Can we just login with VPN from another IP address, to at least save our accounts?

Are you taking into consideration the IP address that we created the accounts? or the last login IP address?

We need more information to deal with this, or will we just have to delete our accounts?

They had 2 years, this was no sudden change. Warpportal is not massive but surely big enough to handle this AND they are a subsidiary of Gravity, which is 250 million dollar company. There is no excuse for this other than incompetence and lack of respect for users and their privacy. Privacy laws will need to get stricter in other regions too if you want to hold any hope of actually having such a thing as privacy in the future. Facebook, Equifax and the like are just the beginning, new technologies will enable much worse abuses of your personal information, and there fore much worse abuse of you, and thus laws need to get stricter.

Will there be a new official Dragon Saga / Dragonica server which is accessible for European players?

Can we officially play this game again or do we have to switch to private servers?

Message received warpportal, I shall tell everyone I know to quit playing your games.

2 years headstart = sudden change lmao

even the tiniest companies manage to abide, but WarpPortal can't even manage to support browsers other than Internet Explorer

  1. It aint WarpPortal's final say. It's Gravity KR the parent company.
  2. The amount that would have to be done to ensure this was properly prepared for would take more time and money that said Parent Company is willing to spend. Also this would ultimate result in a dedicated EU server which would've locked every EU player from their NA accounts anyways and put the EU playerbase under a different company aside.
  3. The vast majority of the games WarpPortal publishes aren't exactly newer tech. Many still have older computer recommendations and they're not as massive of a company.
  4. Popcorn examined statistics and showed <15% of companies can abide by these rules. This minority are likely the ones with the bigger time and resources that is needed.
  5. Two years may seem like a lot of preparation. But given the needed work it would've taken even longer possibly for companies of this smaller scale.

Phew! Exams are approaching and I was asking myself how I would cope with my addiction to DS. This decision comes just in time really.

Time not wasted on this game will be time well-invested.

I will add that this was planned for some time already: all Warpportal games were already removed from Steam for at least European players, possibly long ago.

A one month notice was quite generous though: they could have simply locked European players out of their services without a word of explanation, as they usually did to users they deemed toxic or otherwise just detrimental to their glorious image.
