FAQ

When will this refund thing start?

  • Refunds will start on May 15th. Since we are attempting to ensure we get everyone affected it may take a longer time than usual to go through all the transactions. [5/4/2018 Revision]

Is there anything more specific you can tell us on how the refunds are going to work?

  • Players will be refunded back through the payment method used.

Do we have to write tickets?

  • Due to the number of refunds being distributed, the rollout date for when these will begin has been moved to May 15th. We encourage any players who wish to expedite this process to send a ticket to our support team at support.warpportal.com, and request a refund so we can make sure to get all refunds distributed as quickly as possible.
  • Please note that if you are from Europe and have registered an account that does not state the affected region by the block you may still receive a refund, but the account will be flagged as from Europe and disabled.

 [5/4/2018 Revision]

Are all EU accounts going to be suspended or just blocked from accessing the server?

  • All accounts registered from Europe will be disabled on May 25th. In addition any access from Europe will be restricted and we will no longer be accepting European users on to our service.
What is the list of all affected countries?
  • All of Geographical Europe except for countries located in the Commonwealth of Independent States

Is Turkey Affected?

  • Yes
Why is this block happening?
  • “As we already have announced officially, there were some changes for our European gaming operation and service plan, and unfortunately these changes made GVI to terminate the current European operation policy and strategy.  Thanks for your kindly understand and attention on this”

~Update~

 [5/18/2018 Updates]

Does “disabled” mean the account is banned, deleted altogether, or just IP blocked?

  •     Due to the change of our service policy, we will be terminating all services to the European region,as such we will be deleting all user personal information from said region. However some information will be retained that is relevant to the laws and regulations in the United States

So if you're in a non-restricted area you can't access accounts that were originally made/registered in Europe?

  •       All European accounts created within European area except for Russia and CIS will be inaccessible.

If an eu player logs on to an account will that flag it?

  •  All European accounts created within European area except for Russia and CIS will be marked with a flag and will be inaccessible.

I paid for a friend's account from Europe so she could be vip, she is located in Mexico. Will she be suspended?

  •   If her account was made and accessed within Mexico, it will remain accessible.

Can European accounts be transferred to users in North America? What about people that moved there since account creation?

  •    There will be no account transfer being made. All European accounts created within European area except for Russia and CIS will be inaccessible

How are you going to determine who lives in the EU and who doesn't? Would it be by last login or by place of account creation?

  •    It will be flagged on the date of creation.

Why are you blocking countries that are not a part of European Union? EU laws do not apply to non-member countries so I don't understand why they are getting blocked too.

  •     We are blocking all European countries except for Russia and CIS due to the change of service policy not for European Union but for all the European area.

What should we do if our accounts are incorrectly flagged as from Europe?

  • All European accounts will be inaccessible. If your account is not European account, please let us know via e-mail.

Is refund mandatory or can we refuse it? If we refuse it is it possible to keep our accounts?

  • Regardless, All European accounts will be inaccessible.

What if, in order to play again, someone eventually moves out of EU? All their hard work just disappears and they have to start over?

  •  If the player’s new place of residence is in the region that Warpportal services, then they can play with new account created within such region. All European accounts created within European area except for Russia and CIS will not be accessible.

If this ban is lifted someday, somehow, how are we (European players) gonna know about it, if we don't have forum access etc?  Will the current data for EU accounts be saved or backed up?

  •  If there is a change in our policy and terms of use we will inform players through our usual channels. Due to the change of our service policy, we will be terminating all services to the European region, as such we will be deleting all user personal information from said region. However some information will be retained that is relevant to the laws and regulations in the United States

Anyone might be a dual citizen and choose to renounce their citizenship in EU to move to their non-EU country before May 25th -- what will you do then?

  •  Regardless of your nationality or citizenship, All European accounts created within European area except for Russia and CIS will be inaccessible.

If a player wants to leave because all their EU friends are gone, will they qualify for refunds as well

  •  Only players affected by the new terms and policy changes will receive refunds.

Will players in the UK be able to rejoin after next month when they are not part of the EU anymore?

  •   If there is a change in our policy and terms of use we will inform players through our usual channels.

*If you have any questions regarding specific items, please send a ticket to our GM Team

*Further FAQ Updates may be posted here as well once we receive more information.

Thank you for the update Dragonlark.

Will there be any chance that users from the EU be able to rejoin the games, or is it way to early to know if that would be possible?

What's to discuss?  You're going to force people into pservers. That's IF people even want to attempt to restart their characters again.

I can only hope that whatever part of your business of Rose that still exists is enough to keep the SINGLE (one) (1) developer you have on it working or this indeed will be the end.

We'll see in the next couple weeks, won't we if the updates stop.

Lastly, when will you be refunding the players from other parts of the world who only played your Rose because of their European friends? This isn't just a .EU problem because many of us wouldn't/won't play without our .EU friends.

My question is basically the same as Trebors but a bit more specific. Will our accounts be deleted forever? I am in the UK so as from next March we will not be a part of the EU, so I wonder about the possibility of returning in the future.

I have to say I am really sad about all this, having spent 12 years of my life in this game (yes I am sad) even if we in the UK could return next year I certainly would not be willing to start from the beginning again with no characters and no gear. All of my old IM sets are of course account bound and it would take 1000's of unbinders to make this stuff so I could even give it away, so the whole lot will be lost forever :(

Having said that, many thanks to all of the staff and fellow players who have made the last 12 years a lot of fun, and especially to the friends who I have made and stayed in touch with :)

Are all EU accounts going to be suspended or just blocked from accessing the server?
  • All accounts registered from Europe will be disabled on May 25th. In addition any access from Europe will be restricted and we will no longer be accepting European users on to our service.

I don't think that just restricting access to our accounts or the game will enable you to avoid the GDPR.

I think that if you still have the data on your systems then you have to comply with the GDPR - I think that you have to totally remove and delete the data in order to comply.

So any hopes of other users that after the UK leaves the EU we may be able to recover our accounts and continue to play at that time would not be possible - as you may already have had to delete our data and that there would be no data to enable recovery of our accounts,

If anyone could make it clearer for us it would be appreciated.

  • Players do not have to write tickets in order to receive a refund. We anticipate that all the refunds will be completed by May 5th. If you have not received your refund by then you may do so. Please note that if you registered the account from a region not affected by the block you may still receive a refund but the account will be flagged as from Europe and disabled on May 25th when all other european accounts are suspended.

What?

So any account weither it being Euro or not has a chance to get suspended because of the refund?

Will they have to write a ticket then?

- Are  ingame account going to be suspended/deleted?

- Will forum users and warpportal accounts (Used to store account related data) be suspended/deleted?

- Is there a chance that EU players might be able to play warpportal games again in the future?

- I know polls and petitions are note exactly allowed, but there recently was one posted which has been signed by 127 people at this moment.
Will this have any chance or effect in mind for GVI to reconsider recent annoucement?

You know after playing this game for like 13 years these FAQ answers are vague to say the least, could you try and provide some better and perhaps more detailed answers to the questions? If not now then perhaps later as you recieve some answers too.

Thanks to everyone, it was a awsome 13 year ride.  B)

So sad it's got to end like this, I hope there will a BIG event or pvp war on the 23rd or 24th something like that.

To say goodbye to all of the EU players!

This memo was written from someone on the international corporate panel no doubt, given it's attempt at professionalism, but ultimate failure at proper English grammar. This tells me more than I cared to know, which is that this was a decision made by Gravity's over-seas Development sector, and not one from our NA sector. That, or someone on the NA staff just doesn't use English as a primary language. I could be wrong, but I've seen this type of attempted professionalism from other places, and it was ALWAYS attributed to someone who didn't speak native English attempting to sound like they do, and trying to sound professional.

Ultimately, everyones question comes down to this Lark/Andrasyte.

Will you be DELETING all EU accounts, or merely blocking the players access to it.

Are you aware that you still have to comply with GDPR for data you already hold on your players?

What data will you be deleting on EU citizens?

Are the accounts being deleted?

Are you simply blocking the accounts, or wiping all information held on them?

===

This is quite a serious point and I'm trying to make you aware that unless you delete the data you've already collected on EU citizens, you will be in breach of GDPR on Day 1, regardless on whether EU citizens can access your services from that point or not and regardless of whether you actually want to comply with GDPR or not.

You need to address this point head, or I'll make a GDPR request to you on May 25, in which you'll have 30 days to reply to it, and force you to address it. Your User Agreement does not exempt you, and will not protect you, from data previous collected.

From the language used in the FAQ, it would seem that they still intend to hold the data -- at least for the time being until they announce the purge. I reckon the data withheld is related to the refund operation planned, but then again this is a critical point and it needs to be backed with an official statement.

Edit: On another note, the grammar on that message...yikes. I noticed that there are also errors in the one AndraSyte posted.

this ^^^ is the biggest garbage apology i have ever heard.  it never ceases to amaze me how many times gravity has screwed their player base over.  i feel bad for the people affected by this an i hope they can find a pserver to play in.  i know it is going to suck to start over again.  maybe its time to move on from this game that will never be what it truly could have been.

Honestly the language and timing reminds so much of how they shut down I-Rose..  Who is the one made the decision not to comply?  Which management team, warpportal, gravity, gravity inc, gung-ho...., came to the conclusion to just ban an entire block of the world?

Also you need to change the banner when logging in so people see this is happening. Making announcement in-game also.

I mean NA-Rose extended out its hand back when EU-Rose shutdown and brought over their players and data. Now you're turning your backs on them.

I am really shocked, like all Europaen. I spend so much inside...

Will I get all money back i spend in?

Can I give my account to other gamer who is not in EU? When this gamer give another E-Mail out of EU will this change the IP from creating time, so can he use my account then?

Will you try to make any contracts that Europaen have a chance to come back???

Questions over questions. I hope for answers, because of my sendet ticket I didn´t get an answer this time.

Thanks

So If I play someones knight that the IP is from EU, but I am using it on USA IP, will it still get deleted? Because I spent IM on it and now I feel like I just got scammed.

Also, I'll ask a rather uncommon question;

What if the account was made in Europe but the owner is located elsewhere?

E.G a holiday in Eu, but resides in America etc.

CM Astra said that the questions have been sent to Gravity HQ, so yes, unless they do put on some lively, friendly banter during the wait, this thread will be silent for quite some time. Best estimate: next week. Not my words though.

A note on questions regarding the European region access:
All questions on this topic should be taken to the Terms of Service Update FAQ [RO1] thread. I've already collected the majority of them and sent them to management. At the moment, we are currently waiting for answers to your questions from Management/HQ in South Korea. They should be able to have them delivered by next week, upon which I will post it in that FAQ thread for you all to read. Thank you all for your patience!

I played irose for a long time, and then when he close i play eurose who  close too...

Disgusting by the time spend for Nothing i sweat that i never ever played a gravity game...

Then 4 week ago, i talk with my little boy, that ask me, what game do u prefer when u were Young? So i tell him about rose, and tell him i try to show him what it was.

I found narose, and just start to play with him since 3 weeks, just understanding a little new maps, new skills, etc

And now that...

I just dont understand, just for economic reason, u prefer let us die, instead of let us play...

Utopian i believed, that the more players u have, the more the game is alive...

Not for u as i see...
