Update Race: Ragnarok Wiki vs. iRO

Yes. Nothing is 100% perfect. That's the reason that I'm trying to improve my korean language skill.
Even now I still can't read it. But I know some basic grammars and can distinguish between korean word, transliteration word and chinese word.
Just those skills are enough to prevent me from google translate trolling and my translation will end up as a pile of poops. lol

If you look at the Kagerou and Oboro pages on the wiki, you'll see that I have the skill names in Romaji, as someone insisted that that's how the skill names are "supposed to be." And now that I'm translating the kRO patch notes on the wiki, I'm discovering that isn't the case. So you can understand why I'm no longer very open to listening to everyone. It's very difficult to keep chasing down different localizations of skill names, character names, etc. to make sure all the information is consistent. That is why I aim for the information on the wiki to come from the original source; because it's just more consistent than following every RO server's interpretation. It's why I refuse to even follow iRO's localizations on things (especially when they use several different spellings of Schwarzwald and switch Ferlock and Tarlock's names for the characters, holy Odin, that was a clusterf**k of inconsistencies).

If everyone just keeps waiting and waiting for someone who's fluent in Korean to make proper translations, the Ragnarok Wiki as it is today would not even exist. So at the very least, even if I'm not fluent in Korean, I'm willing to at least try. So if people want to laugh at my crappy efforts at translations, then fine. Don't help, but don't go criticizing me for doing something barely anyone else is willing to do. And please, don't lie to me and say you want to help out when you actually don't. I deal with enough lies from the iRO team, I don't need it from the community as well. I've pretty much given up on asking people to help out, because it's quite obvious people would rather post their findings on forums (and deal with a crappy search function) than contribute to a wiki.

Google translation is more than enough for the community. Someone who is really fluent is just too good / not that useful.

We've had fluent Korean translators in the community in the past that contributed a lot. Namely zr0rieu (ZeroZaku on iRO Wiki), CharAznable, seaechiowai, and ParkWonJae. And they've all been very helpful in their Korean translations of RO stuff. The problem is that they are extremely few and far in between and they don't possess the motivation to remain dedicated to long-term translation.

I'm currently only using Google Translate to add kRO patch notes to the Ragnarok Wiki because there's just so many of them and it would take too long to run each one through my usual set of Korean-English translation sites. I'm hoping someone with more fluency in Korean would skim through some patch notes and make corrections where necessary. At the moment, I'm totally lost on translating Sura skill changes because I can't make sense of what Google Translate is spitting out, so those are being left in a weird jumbled mess on the patch notes for now.

For the comic, until now only 2 versions have been officially published, Korean and Chinese, after the comic has been released for almost year.
Unless WP get permission to translate to English version. You might have to wait upcoming Edda biolab to lands on IRO, which will be updated in KRO on this December.

I felt like people tends to focus heavily on newer items, that's why OCP happened. And now someone who isn't really fluent can just Google-translate it to fulfill the community's need just fine. The skill names can be done by this method too since someone has known the trick to avoid Google-translate trolling. That's why I thought : Why the translation ? when someone can just google-translate and people are satisfied with it.

I did it once so I can safely say that I know exactly how hard the translation is.

No one knows I often had migraine. No one knows I didn't sleep just because I wanted a perfect translation.

I don't exactly know what the helpful contributors of your site were thinking but for mine, I felt it is just not worth for my mental/physical health.

I better do something else I have my interest in while google-translate can't.

Which is just how it is. Sorry, a lot of people want certain information on the wiki, but waiting for information from the original source is the only way I can keep track of things to maintain consistency. There's just too many inconsistencies when it comes to official servers changing content to suit their own needs that I can't rely on them. Although I use iRO as a starting point for a lot of things, I do prefer to replace localized information with the original information when I can get it.

My main goal with the Ragnarok Wiki is to cut through all the inconsistencies and try to figure out the right information from the wrong information. Especially with how far iRO has fallen behind in updates, I wanted to know just how different official servers have become from the original servers and the data I've found shocked me. It's been a heavy mental and physical struggle putting all this information together since I took over the Ragnarok Wiki in 2013 and, although some people have tried to help, there have been times when they unintentionally hinder my efforts (case in point, the Kagerou/Oboro pages which I now have to figure out how to fix) and set me back weeks of grueling work.

My only driving force for all this is pure curiosity. However, after 5 years of doing this, I feel I am starting to run out of steam. Once I catch up on adding kRO patch notes to the wiki and finish documenting Episode 15 and 16, I don't know if I will still have the drive to keep digging up information for the wiki.

Welp, lost Internet access from Dec. 4 until now, so that set me back several days of patch notes work. :| Was hoping to finish Episode 14 patches by now so I could get started on Episode 15 patches. And apparently iRO has plans to get some actual updates next year, so looks like the race is on.

Whew, kRO patch notes are finally caught up on the Ragnarok Wiki. Now to finish documenting Episode 15.

(For anyone curious, I started documenting kRO patch notes on 2018 September 10 and somehow managed to finish 2019 January 10. And that's me being lazy.)

All the boosts in the world won't help if kRO keeps shoving RNG elements into these quests.

Due to issues with documenting Episode 16 content, I hereby formally forfeit this race to iRO. I will be finishing up Episode 15 and then start on Rock Ridge content for the remainder of my lorekeeping here. Sorry to everyone who wanted stupidly meticulous articles on Episode 16 from me. Maybe someone else will take up the challenge.

Hope none of you guys actually kept bets on this race 'cause this is quite the upset.
