Password problem

Downloaded the game yesterday but had problems with the updater which are finally over the only problem now is I can't get to the password part. Nothing I try works.All I can do is enter my name.

Yesterday's downtime was for maintenance (was announced on Twitter, that's where you'll typically get informed of maintenance now, which are slightly more sporadic, about 1 month apart).

The issue you're encountering today is a bit curious, but I guess the basic screening questions to pinpoint the issue are:
1) Are you trying to access the game from EU?
2) Are you playing via VPN?
3) Are you playing through Steam or the official Launcher?

Something you can try since you tried to patch during a maintenance, you might've gotten some files dropped. You can try to go to the folder where your Ragnarok is installed and look for a "Version" file. Set the patch version number back a few, like maybe by 5 or so, then save and relaunch the game. The patcher will try to download those patches again and hopefully, assuming your internet is stable, it will clean up any loose ends.

Sorry I'm not an expert at the technical side of things but I usually just pass on what I've gathered from years of reading this stuff.
