Ranger is the cheapest and easy farm in iro.
yeah , i aggree Ranger have a very cheap starting gears , one of the best starting class
possible to start with less than 1b Zeny spent
+9 Autumn
Elven Bow with AS card
White Wing suit , boots , manteau , brooch all clean , no enchant focus high refine only suit because it's increase ranged dmg per refine level
then you need above 1b worth items later such as PDM for def bypass , Imperial Feather set or Sera coronet for Atk boost
(depend on stat pure AS or hybrid AS/Crit Warg on end game)
include Royal Guard shield + Happy Shield for shield spell buffs etc..

If you want to start off iRO as a totally new player without spending any real dollars or getting help from friends, picking the right starting class is really important for an easier time.
GX might be top tier class but it's really not the best class for your first character, because
(A) thanatos katar starts at lvl120
( enforcer shoes cost like 800M+ now.
© you need to sustain damage by using EDP
If you are willing to spend a couple bucks, then a lot of things become easier, including using a GX with Meteor Assault, but otherwise it's way better to start off with classes that do good damage early on without any gear investment. This way, at level 100-120 you can at least have an easier time farming zenny to gear up your character and then proceed to speed level.
The best choice for this is actually Rebel (because he can level with desperado from 1-99 and then transit easily to gatling gun for round trip at lvl100+), but mechanic and ranger are also great choices.

my idea if starting iro willing to spend some bucks
I recommend 15 USD for 1500 WPE
then convert it to 30 days VIP with 1500 KP bonus
you'll have VIP for easier leveling + a lot of benefits and extra 1500 KP you can buy cash items or spend luck on Yggdrasil tickets and sell the items / KP in Zeny
* I'm mostly using 1500 KP for 5x Ygg tickets or 1x HD Bradium / Carnium + 1x Ygg Tickets if there's Mad Bunny event I can get at least 1b to starting here
if you have at least 1-2b Zeny the first thing to buy is Catherina Von Blood (700m average price) you don't need to worry about HP/SP since early level mobs can kill in 1-2 shots AOE
rest of Zeny just buying supply , consumable for leveling or cheap , mid tier gears don't rely on high end / end game gear yet
or wait for spending Lv 100+ gears
if you have this hat I recommend to make Rebel first and stay at Lv.100 + make guild for 50% tax at least to carry your Lv.85+ alts until they geared up well or become 3rd class / get main leveling skills
'
such as making Archbishop for Support , Merchant class for Vending << if planning to be Gene would be great since at later level Gene is a good class to farming instances / mvps
you just dual clients maining your Rebel and let your alts leech or auto follow for ti / bb counts because Rebel is a god tier mob clearing in low ti
easier than leveling you alts alone
leveling Gunslinger to Rebel is easy because Gunslinger's AOE is easy to use
Desperado = spamming bullets around with Pistol but careful .... ammo runs out quickly
Spread Attack = can shoot from far away , 9x9 Radius good damage because Shotgun have high base atk and less ammo spend
just Lv.99 don't need to trans and Rebel job change is very easy
then when become Rebel grind to Job Lv.7 for maxed Round Trip then you are Low TI killing machine

i do not recommend spending any money unless you are sure you like this game. Even though i'm a hardcore supporter of keeping RO alive, the game itself needs to prove worthy for new players with fun experience at the start, and then become willing to support and "donate" some dollas afterwards for more incentives.
It's on iRO's itself to deliver the early experience that is captivating enough to fuel enough players to feel that way. Currently i see that a lot of things are being revamped early game to cater to a group of new players (many of coming fresh from classic/restart), which is good, but i feel that they are not focusing enough on the right areas. At least 50% of efforts should go to the lvl100-125 experience because current RO's lvl1-99 is a breeze and cannot constitute as enough gameplay. It's why janeway doesn't work for new players. They hit lvl100 and then get totally lost on what to do.
The game needs to be generous and provide a guide for players in the lvl100-125 area; the community HG was great for that but somehow it's a time limited thing which defeats the purpose for helping new players. I personally would prefer it as a reward directly for a successful third job change. And then, listen to the community in providing cheaper ways to acquire HP/SP (the icecream vendor for example), so new players can immediately get started on leveling properly and have fun straight away. Once they get more attached to their characters, they will want to upgrade to premium version gears on cash shop. Eden gears don't cut it.
Give a little so you capture more later on. Learn and observe all top gacha games doing this tactic.

Ok, some Advice from someone with crappy gear. The TI map is great when you're in a party. That's what it's designed for. Many different parties getting A lot kills really fast. If you're a solo player who can't tank and kill large mobs but want the TI exp, Best to go where the monsters spawn naturally. Yes, it's slower but far better than dying constantly. Everyone else is talking about billions of zeny. I have never had that much at one time and don't own anything that cost more than 500mil at the time of purchase. You can easily hold your own in PVE without leet gears. Just takes some patience and figuring out what workaround you need to do to get the job done. There is always an easier way to do stuff tho be it normally slower.
I've basically been alone since a year after renewal hit and killed my guild. It is possible to find fun and enjoyment in this game as a solo player if that is what you prefer.

Community Headgears as reward after third job change seems like a great idea!

I agree the game is super hard to solo for new player but i guess that's intentional. It's supposed to be played as party since it's an mmorpg after all. Either join a party or create alt support characters. I suggest bishop and maybe sorcerer for SP and endow. Having alts will make everything easier. If you ever play warcraft or starcraft, just think of it like playing one of those games but easier since you only need your alts to buff you once every few minutes.

Finding a party in iRO?
Hope you like 4+ hour ques.
The only way to rejuvenate iRO is to:
Solve the blatant cheating problem
Get us caught up to kRO and be constantly up to date
Fix the rampant bugs
Among other things
Do you expect this to happen? It's been years and none of the above has been solved.

iRO is still better than RoM. Be glad lol
Sure, you want weak homunculus, useless pets, Wizard and Ranger are only class in the game, Turn in is the only map in the game. WoE is only killing machine game. Economy is driven by bots and 2B zeny is not enough for equips...
If anyone translates kRO balance patch, you'll notice Suff being buff party and Assumptio to stack with Kyrie which is ROM's skills to begin with. Homunculus is fixed after ROM is developed. Gravity needs ROM staff to fix their own game.

Weak homunculus. RoM checked.
Useless pets. Rom checked
RG and RG are only classes in game. RoM checked.
Game has less than 30 maps and very limited farm spots. RoM checked.
PvP is already killing machine game. RoM checked *note that RoM is only 8 - 10 months*
Economy doesnt exist when eveyrone auto afk farm and use add-on to do Boss hunt to make zeny. RoM checked.
Everything you said is a problem in RoM and RoM has more problems that iRO doesnt have. More lags in WoE. Chars dont load. 5 Consumable hotkeys. 6 skill hotkeys. Less skills. Less items. Less monsters. Less cards. No instances. No MMORPG aspects.
iRO is 17 years old. Global is 8 months. SEA is 10 months. CN is 2+ years. They all wont even last over 5 years
RoM is so -_- and ez that I went to play there without any CN/SEA knowledge and already one shot people in PvP and in WoE *cough ... server 8 months old only* #Casual_Player

$5 cashop item (ex. heavy lifter Box) is 400m zeny.
I reach level 120 without using 96% of items in ragial. com.
edit:
if you really want to reach level 175 without expending $5 use
magic doram.......... see it in the class section in forum.

Not gonna try to counter arguments when you give wrong impressions. Only pointing out negatives without pulling real features.
The game has problems but there is one difference when a game is fun in F2P way and achievable since newbie... We're talking about iRO being fun or not for newbies. What can you do to promote to RO newbies? Why newbies need to top up and farm in certain class for smooth gameplay? Why they are limited to certain drops and maps to level?
I'm not arguing ROM is better at anything gameplay wise. Only They have better ways to invite players and invest many game features/events to do. RO is 17 years old, One Piece is 20 years old but is it best manga to read than finished/cancelled manga? ROM can die anytime but it's an example game that I'm having fun with any class to play, any build to try, any method to level/farm, any method to +10 or obtain equips without $$$. Any RO server can be designed like that with simple events and small customizations.

newbies don't "NEED" to top up and spend money.
They don't "NEED" to choose only one class to farm/level/play.
There aren't any rules limiting them to specific drops, maps, or playstyles.
These are nothing more than imaginary limitations(get that in your heads already. like damn) people set on themselves when they expect to play the game exactly the same way someone else does hoping they'd get the same level of satsifaction.
If people come here with the goal of following someone else's step-by-step tutorials, then they're better off assembling ikea furnitutre
