The best defense is a good offense, fine, but unless im playing near the server in the US I lag enough that monsters always get a few hits off on me.

I need int for damage, dex for cast time, similar to archers i need 2 primary stats to be effective, but archers double dip and get flee from their agi as well.

How do I defend myself as a solo pvm wizard? vit? cant get enough of that without being offensively weak early on, and agi is not common and would still require me to lose investment in dex and int early on.

My wiz has frost nova and firewall, but despite, given innate position lag in this game and also latency from living far away + lag spikes during peak hours where mobs are hitting me from 5 cells away, i take a bunch of hits and lose half my hp if i try to frost nova a group of enemies because of its low range.

Firewall has its own issues i need to position properly, and moving around i can easily have enemies approach from the other side and throw my entire firewall mobbing attempt off.

How do I increase my defenses as a wiz? Energy coat + harpy card + pupa card and, while i usualyl survive, i go through pots 5x faster than with any other class.

In PvM, some flee + quagmire will be enough.

the main defense of a wizard is to not allow monsters to hit you at all

In a few weeks wizard aoe spells will have faster cast times and you can cast another spell even if one is aready on the field

after rebalance, you can combo the spells because they are now on cooldown instead of global delay.

you should be able to kill the mobs instantly after freezing them then using LoV.

global delay of SG, LoV, MS will only be 1sec, but higher cooldowns of 5-7secs.

What would be the preferred dex after rebalance? I am at 90 dex and it doesn't feel any faster when casting skills

I feel like I should mention the often overlooked frost nova, a spell that is basically instant cast, has no cooldown/delay/attack animation, extremely high freeze rate and is a self targeted aoe.

lv1 storm gust isn't bad at freezing, but it still has a relatively slow cast time that wont save you in a pinch, and the random knockback has the bad habit of knocking enemies OUT of it.

Granted using frost nova means enemies are going to be right next to you anyway, but point is it's a great defensive tool for enemies already on you and can serve the same purpose as the SG to LOV combo.

The points for it are probably going to have to come from the earth spells though.

Usually I feel like wizards grab 2 AoE spells: LoV, MS, or SG. Is MS now irrelevant?  Targeting pvp/pve.

Also how important is quag lv3 vs lv4?
