Hello everyone. I'm in the process of contributing a new design for the iro wiki, since it's long overdue for a makeover.

The reason I'm posting this thread is because there are a lot of people out there with a lot of desktop resolutions, and I want to get opinions to be sure it will be suitable for everyone.

The sections on the main page will be resorted, and there will be new button links for each session.

You can currently check out the progress of the page here:

https://irowiki.org/wiki/MainNewDesign

If you have any feedback, please post here. Thank you!

iROWiki should focus on updating their (outdated) content instead of wasting their time on some new design.

You should be happy people are willing to put in the effort to manually collect information and share it in the first place.

@marona

The changes look nice to me, though I worry with too many graphical buttons if navigating would become more "difficult" than just clicking words. But that concern may be unfounded since what you have so far looks good.

Yes I can see why. Majority of the buttons will be just of sections and links. If if ends up being too much in the end for others, I'll tone it down a bit.

There was a time when iROWiki was being kept up-to-date, but one of these days those players quit RO and I guess you see where it goes.
Sadly...

Multiple pages are still updated. People have to do it, you can be the change you want to see.

You do realise that it's a community wiki and that requires users to update content? Users such as yourself? How do you think this was kept up to date in the past?

If you're aware of such said pages that needed update and knows what info that needs to be updated, why don't register as a volunteer and update it yourself. Even if you tell the moderators/volunteers, there are a lot of pages pending for update adn they do so of their free time.

I would like to thank those volunteers we have as well as the admin for continuously hosting the site.

As for the new design, Looks good. Maintain simplicity.

I like the buttony view! cant wait when it is all button like design
though my concern is you need to put more space between sections (if all buttons already) to avoid confusion
thank you for the hard work marona!

I wanted to contribute before about how White Lady card heal % is not calculated the same way as the heal % given by other gears, but I still am not confident to this day whether my findings are correct or not still, and contributing such information would be detrimental for everyone.

Apart from that the page looks very nice, but i do agree that the buttons might make some groups of people feel anxious.

Cool looking page. I like buttons. Lol

I always wanted to help to at least make irowiki look as beauty as browiki even if was just putting images in some quests pages to help people to localize themselves (mostly we have only /where locations), but i don't know -_- about configuring internet pages.

You can put it as a possible, not confirmed, or have someone take a second look.

I'm more of the quest type, item type person on the wiki so I wouldn't know for sure :(

Edit: Yeah I've been getting some feedback on the buttons. We'll probably do away with the smaller types.

If you click on most of the coordinates, they automatically copy to your clipboard, and in the game you can ctrl+v and press enter. It will point you to the direction

That time can come again if people chose to help instead of pointing fingers and complaining. There isn't much that needs to be done, so if everyone does just a little bit, it'd be great already.

But it does do the exact same thing that every heal% boost does. Pretty sure your confusion in the past is that you thought they'd multiply themselves, but as long as things belong to the same category on RO, they are additive with each other.

We'll have to build iROWiki from the ground up and that would be alot of works for those that plays RT.

Would it really?
RT shares 98% of the game mechanics with standard Renewal servers. At most what you actually need to do is add an "RT note" on that page when there's divergences between servers. Say the exp page wich explains the exp penalty and it's 15 level range. You just need to add the RT counterpart to that page with the 30 lvls range. Don't need to make an entirely new wiki.
You can also add an "RT section" wich compiles links to all the RT exclusive minutiae, wich aren't a lot.

I'll give you that RT doesn't have a proper database when it comes to monster spawn/drops, but that's just a dedicated side portion of the wiki, not all of it.

Sorry but it sounds a lot like the make up of excuses now that you've been put up on the spot that you could assist the cause, instead of pointing fingers.

Ahh is that so. Glad to hear that its just me being abit confusing on myself. Thanks for the clarification there Ash.

This is basically what we do on quest and other mechanics pages.

In regards to database, the initial groundwork for differentiating servers actually was laid/planned out. When I was restructuring the table design, I had to account for ReStart. So if we ever get someone to help on the front-end stuff to get that moving again, we can hopefully easily roll out for new servers like Poring.

And even then, we can probably think ahead and have a way to show differences for RO:T vs Renewal.

For the actual Wiki, this is something that can easily be done but nobody bothers. Even @Yama over there yells at me to update stuff in Discord. Usually I will mention it to the Discord group for editors and hope that they do it. @Yongky and another usually focus on mechanics, whereas I like to add quests. But as @Ash said, most of the actual content just needs very minor notes. And even for things like builds, it can probably just update the class pages since current builds are listed on the 3rd job pages.

And @MegaEdge, how have I not seen you? I thought you were in our Clandestined Society veterans discord...
