can you auto-cast pain killer?

If not then download Default azzy AI. Delete the AI folder from your ragnarok folder and paste this one.

http://drazzy.com/ro...AzzyAI_1551.zip

To cast Poison mist you need to atk some mob by alt+right clicking on the mob.

https://youtu.be/K8kCDS3EuEY

Oh i thought all AI does not work anymore. Thanks! I’ve been manually casting my pain killer. Its frustrating having to alt+right click the mob before using the skill. I remember before even without the AI and manually controlling the homunc, you just need to press the skill unto the mob and that’s it.

How are you controlling the sera to cast skills from afar? I’ve been trying it but it first approaches the target and then I cast the skill.

Slotted Temporal Boots:

Echoing IDexter here: Only useful for Geneticist if you need another 10% HP/SP (Firelock Soldier card) for survival, which you shouldn't because you have Painkiller.

Beyond that, perhaps some MVP card could go in the slot for slightly increasing damage (Atk%, Matk% or even ASPD, depending on build).

Homunculus:

It's the attacking part of the AI that no longer works, but the rest of the AI still works (moving patterns, auto-casting buffs). Personally I don't even bother using the Homunculus to attack. The only time I do is for attacking things that only take 1 HP damage.

You could also use the Homunculus to lure mobs, but usually it's faster to just move yourself.

CC DPS:

I have plenty of gear (+Maestro) for reducing cast delay, so I'll try it out and see if I can cast 7 times per second. I really thought the hard animation made it impossible (except when getting hit by mobs, heh), so previously I didn't bother trying.

What's your thoughts on the other accessory slot? I'm thinking its between PDM and Chemical Gloves.

I feel like PDM is more flexible as it can be used by my other characters too but Chemical gloves gives high attack, HP, and CC damage boost.

For leveling I used Chemical Glove and PDM (and Cylinder Hairband).

When I switched to Old Midas Whisper, I replaced Chemical Glove with Temporal Ring. PDM was necessary for me to get instant cast via stats (+15 INT and DEX via 90 base STR and VIT, respectively), along with Temporal Ring + Runaway Magic combo, while still having flexibility with Armor.

Two other common options for instant cast via stats:

  • +12 or +14 Hero Trade Mail and Brooch of Hero combo
  • +13 Abusive Robe or +13 Flattery Robe with DEX3+DEX2 or DEX3+DEX3 enchants (you can get these from Episode 16.1)
    • STR3+2 or 3+3 yields higher damage
    • Flattery Robe (increases Matk) is more useful than Abusive Robe for Acid Bomb

However, Illusion Armor Type A yields higher damage and can provide cast delay reduction.

Depending on your setup, a less expensive option could be +20 foods (make yourself or buy from other players):

Thanks! I think i'll save up for PDM and then FAW. When you say you reached instant cast via stats did you used food buffs? or just the VIP buff and blessing? Or none at all?

I think my item progression should be something like:

PDM > FAW > Illusion Armor > Weapon

Just reached 130, what content can I solo now?

Also, what other classes do you think I can play around with using my gears?

Thanks!

Check out this thread where CrimsonSC has done the calculations to insta-cast CC.

You can solo OGH, ghost palace, bijou, maybe some GMT? etc.

Thanks! Wow its now achievable without buffs albeit a little too rich for my blood especially a +12 temp boots.

Also, how can I obtain gene shadow set?

Ok, will try those and maybe the 16.1 and 16.2 quests. How about endless tower? Did they change that?

Also for skills, what other skills are a must have for gene? Right now my skill points are only on cart cannon, cart remodelling, and cart boost. I’m at jlevel 39 and i’m going for only base exp when using gramps.

Edit: I’m looking at the wiki and is the gene shadow set just the weapon and shield combo? There’s no mention of +10 all stats there and the link to iro item database seems to be broken.

Edit 2: I see it now in divine pride. That’s accurate for iro, right? So i’ll need all, merchant, alchemist, and gene shadow sets. What are other options for shadow set here?

Shadow Equipment:

This lists all shadow equipment currently in iRO, though it may lack descriptions for them:

https://irowiki.org/...hadow_Equipment

If an item exists in iRO's database, Divine Pride uses its description. Because the class shadow sets are in iRO's database and available in the game (they're listed on the wiki), Divine Pride's description of the items are iRO's description of the items.

Other options for shadow sets depend on what you're trying to do.

  • Increase ASPD and ATK: Physical Set
  • Increase damage to bosses: Liberation Set
  • HP leech: Malicious Set

Endless Tower:

Still the same. In kRO and others, additional instances were added to serve as higher level versions of ET, but ET remains unchanged.

Geneticist skills:

This depends on what you're trying to do. For leveling, you only need the skills you have now.

If you're using a sword, Sword Mastery.

Demonic Fire, Fire Expansion and Blood Sucker could be useful for MVP-hunting later, but they aren't necessary in most cases.

Other classes:

Let's ignore gear for now. Utilizing existing gear just means easier to level early on and potentially reducing some costs of gearing up.

Ask yourself:

  • What appealed to me about Geneticist before?
  • What do I want to achieve with a class?
  • Do I want to master a class?
  • How much time do I want to invest in becoming adept at using a class?
  • What is my preferred play style?
    • What types of character or fighting style archetypes do I typically use in games?
  • What do I enjoy most about RO? For example:
    • Leveling
    • Exploring new maps
    • Setting self-challenges and beating those challenges
      • Example: Without using Prize Medals, start from 1/1 Novice and reach Transcendent 3rd class in 8 hours of game time
      • Example: Complete all Bounty Board quests for my level range and turn them all in at once
      • Example: Finish a particular instance in X minutes (set personal best records)
    • Trying out unorthodox builds
    • Min/maxing damage
    • Finishing instances
    • Farming for MVP cards
    • Farming for the best equipment
    • Farming for items that can be easily sold (i.e., steady/high demand)
    • Buying and reselling items in the market
  • For the best equipment that can be created in the game (rather than only bought from the Cash Shop or other players), do I want to create them myself or buy them from other players?
  • Do I want to multi-client?

Trying out other classes to see if your play style fits them is fine. However, I'm concerned that you're asking about what gear to get for other classes when you might not be sure you will like the class.

The least expensive route is to create and level more Geneticists. You could use one for casting Glistening Coat (potentially for your main or for other characters, if your main Geneticist doesn't have Full Chemical Protection), one for brewing and cooking, etc. Or if the journey (leveling) is what you like most, that allows you to experience the Geneticist journey again. You can combine that with a personal challenge to see how quickly you can level up the character.

Been looking at the market and the shadow set of Geneticists are a bit expensive. I'll put it at the back of my to-buy list.

I don't really know what the other skills of Geneticists do. I'm afraid to put on skills points to the other skills as I don't want to waste my free skill reset.

Thanks for the very insightful input regarding other classes. I haven't really assessed why i'm back to the game right now. Maybe its to scratch that mmorpg itch. I've been wanting to try out other classes especially the new jobs for the expanded class as they were not available before. I'm thinking of another class that could use my geneticist's equipment as I may not have enough resource to buy expensive equipment again. I was really trying out unorthodox builds before like my target for this Geneticist before was 100% variable cast time reductions, this was before the introduction of cylinder hairband. Right now i'd like to experience the high level instances, MVP hunting, questing and exploring in RO. So i'm also looking for a character who could do that solo as I don't really have friends playing this game anymore, all my previous guildmates already quit. Also, I don't have as much disposable time to play this game, so might as well make use of the gears I already have. I'm thinking of this so that I don't get burnt out playing only a single class.

You want to experience high level instances and MVP hunting. Starting a new character will add more time before you can do those, though reaching level 100 doesn't take much time. Reaching 175 takes longer, but still not too hard and depends on your pace.

You don't have much time to play this game, so getting burnt out playing a single class should take longer (or perhaps never happen). If you were grinding 8 hours a day with Geneticist, I could see burn-out after a month. If you're only playing 1 hour a day, that should take a lot longer (or never happen).

You don't want to spend much cash (and time?) to get zeny in order to gear up and comfortably solo.

From those reasons you've given, I don't see why you should play other classes.

EDIT: That said, I encourage you to try other classes to see if they fit your play style, but don't gear up by selling Cash Shop items for zeny until you're sure you want to go down that route.

Given the current solo-heavy environment, a character needs to be strong enough for a player to get enjoyment out of it. However, if the character starts out as the strongest (best-in-slot equipment for everything), that person has a higher chance of getting bored with the character right away. If that person worked their way to that point (or at least got there over time), they have a higher chance of still enjoying the game even when strongest.

To finally answer your question on other classes directly, the first thing that comes to my mind is magic Ninja (Oboro a little better than Kagerou). Kagerou/Oboro has a skill for eliminating fixed cast time, and you can use your gear for eliminating/reducing variable cast time (RWC Pendants, FAW, Crown of Deceit), in order to get instant cast. In order to get close to maxing out damage:

  • replace the RWC Pendants with 2x Shinobi Sash H (50-75m each)
  • buy Mob Scarf (for Mob Scarf + Glasses/Sunglasses combo)
  • get Bazerald (can be farmed) and get Spell 5/5 or better enchants
  • second dagger: your choice
  • Illusion Armor Type B: farm for it and modules
  • Modified Temporal Boots: farm for it and enchants

Some other classes where you can get far with only easily obtainable equipment (quests, NPC stores, low prices from players, or "high" drop rate, where "high" to me means 1% or higher drop rate or high spawn count of monsters that drop it):

Summoner (Doram) - Catnip Meteor to level, reset to Picky Peck for MVP hunting

Gunslinger/Rebel

Archer/Hunter/Ranger

High level instances:

Every class can solo high level instances and MVPs. It just depends on how quickly, how many consumables get used, and how much preparation is required. Geneticist is the most flexible when it comes to dealing with all high level instances, with the least amount of additional gear required.

A Dragon Breath-focused Rune Knight, for example, needs a full second set of equipment in order to kill Valkyrie (and anything that's Holy 4 or Shadow 4). Geneticist just equips shadow cannon ball and, if desired, holy armor.

Hunting MVPs:

Which ones? Most are low level (compared to 175/60) and can be killed easily with inexpensive equipment if the character's level is high enough.

Ask yourself what you want to get out of hunting MVPs. If the goal is to get a specific card drop, you could get lucky and get a drop on your first kill, you could follow the average (assume HE Bubble Gum) and get one after 2,500 kills, or you could be less lucky and get one after 10,000 kills. To me that would be frustrating and could be akin to burn-out. To avoid that, I personally frame the goal as one of:

  • get X number of drops (that have a much higher drop rate than cards)
  • for MVPs that spawn naturally: find MVP upon spawn within X seconds and kill within Y seconds
  • kill a specific MVP 5,000 times (a personal bounty "quest")

Maybe you just want to kill each MVP once. That's a fine goal, too.

Other Geneticist skills:

Don't use the skill points. You don't need other skills for leveling. When you're ready, watch YouTube videos to see when, potentially why, and how the other skills are used, then determine if you should get those skills, too.

Blood Sucker could be used for killing things that only take 1 HP damage or for HP leech, but I'd rather use Homunculus for the former and consumables for the latter (if even needed, given Painkiller and kiting).

Demonic Fire + Fire Expansion Lv 5 could be used for killing things immune to physical damage, such as Violent Coelacanth.

Wow! Thank you for your insights!

It may sound counterintuitive but sometimes I'm just not feeling playing my Gene so I'm looking for another character to play. I'm not really in a rush to get to the high level content, just going by my own pace although it will take undoubtedly longer with playing different characters but it's just my style to play different characters in every game I try.

Yeah, i'll try different classes and not invest to them heavily until I find one suitable for my style that's why I'd like to atleast make us of my current available equips. Sometimes I just wake up and i'm like hmmm i want to play this class today instead of this one, and I get enjoyment out of that so does not really badly affect me. And sometimes playing 1 character for long periods, well for me a couple of hours, feels like a chore.

Oh, that's fortunate. I've been wanting to try the Magic Ninja Oboro for sometime now. Been wanting to try the Rebel Class too. I thought the Summoner (Doram) class is like another Super Novice, didn't know it has potential.  Do you think I can make do with GX for what I have and like some entry level equips? GX before has been really expensive to gear especially those double wielding types.

Maybe I'll try another Gene but I want a different Homunculus. My Homunc right now is a vanilmirth to sera one and i'm having a hard time keeping it alive in TI especially with the never ending firebolts from the TI monster this week. What homunc is good now?

Again, thank you so much!

Each homunculus has its own merit, Sera for Tanking, Dieter for Damage and Eira for Flee(its a real good skill if you know how to play it and have low budget for defensive stuff), bayeri is kinda of a tank by itself instead of buffing you, only casting satefy wall for utility(never used it myselft to test how effective it is) and eleanor is basically for roleplay, specially now that you have to control her attacks by yourself.

I would also ask what kinda of content are you most interested in doing right now? If its basically trying out different classes i would suggest to not bother much with gear and limit test with basic gear until you find what you need to improve on the build and if you like the playstyle you would be surprised how much you can do with eden group gear and some planning.

So Sera is really the best choice for tanking? I’m doing high TI right now and the mobs are kick and kick, and menblatt and somehow the kick and kick is doing around 200-600 damage to me even with pain killer active.

Also, is there a way to easily level the homunc now? Before I used to just afk in like harpies or orc dun2

I kinda want to try the new content but when I say new content even the 120+ Content is new to me since I haven’t tried those before. I was so focused on leveling i was just doing TI and magma 2.

Yes, I will also be trying the other classes just to know what fits my playstyle. What do you mean with some planning? I just tried the magic ninja and its fun to play although the sp and matk is low.

Thanks for your input!

Sera is the choice vs small hits, dieter is vs big hits

Granitic Armor(dieter) reduces any incoming damage by 10%, Sera Pain Killer reduces any incoming damage by 1000

Wiki say its something like 2333. And per the computation mine should be atleast 1600 reduction. And looking at kick and kick attack stat It should not go over the 1600 especially I still have some def equips. Although i’m not really sure for the computation of this.

That being said, what do you think is the Homunc of choice for MVP hunter? And What’s a good homunc base now since it can’t auto attack anymore.

Amistr for base. Can't level Homunc if they die too easily. Amistr is the tankiest.

Dieter for Homunc S would be my suggestion.

The base choice is always Amistr, because it's the only one with relevant skills to carry on (Castling and +30 vit buff)

Thanks! Yeah, I can't even use the offensive skills of the Homunc now easily. It requires to target first using alt +right click before using the skill making it harder to control especially when there's large mob. Maybe I'll make another Gene with Amistr Dieter this time around.

I have a somewhat general question, how do I make the Scatleton portable cage? I remember I had 2 of this before and the pet just ran away but its not at 1 hunger.

Scatleton was available during limited-time events (2016 Halloween and 2017 Halloween):

Only way to get more now is to buy from other players, or maybe wait and see if it's brought back for a future Halloween event.

Hey guys looking for some advice regarding my current stat build, this is solely for PvM using Acid Bomb and CC:

Things to consider: I have Cylinder Headband, Seraph Coronet, +9TempDex EA4 HE. I guess the 120 base dex is overkill?

if you're gonna use temp dex, you will have 120 dex
if you're gonna use seraph coronet, use 120 int
distribute the rest evenly

Hey!

What's a good shield for Gene? and what card should I put into it?

I'm having a hard time leveling in TI, even with pain killer the mobs hit for like 600-1000. Alternatively, where can I level? Level 135/41 right now. Been pumping TI exp to jexp.

Currently, my set is

+8 Cylinder HB

S. Coronet

Toy Syringe

+6 Illusion Armor type A

+9 Triple Kingbird RTE

+4 Valk Shield <- What should I put on this or what shield should I use?

+9 I. HBP

+9 Temp Dex boots EA4/RM

Temp Ring

PDM

You shouldve pump the exp to BaseExp, your JobLvl for gene does nothing

Feather/excelion/anemos/fotia/gaia/nero for shield

Best value will be Khalitzburg Knight, otherwise Hodremlin/racial card
