I love ragnarok, used to play it in school back in 2006, when I came back as an adult to the same p-server felt all the emotion and the sense of discovery in this exiting wide open world, but after some time felt that p-server was small and outdated and third classes where "coming", so I decided to play IRO the OFFICIAL server, because as an official server it had to be full updates and filled with all the content a p server shouldn't have, then months later after reaching max lvl I realized how outdated this official server was in comparison with -_-ty p-servers, I want to continue supporting warp portal and stay here, but man such a lack of fresh content and the option to reach 17.2 in other illegal servers makes me thing about the reasons to stay here.

I'm positive about this server and a I love IRO, have good friends and an awesome guild, but without content you can't keep people from going illegal.

4th classes where "coming" (sorry made a mistake)

Private servers are not illegal otherwise Gravity would send cease & desist to the big servers like blizzard does, (whats illegal is using the assets not the servers itself) 

 

Pservers have always had faster content than official servers because the private scene is bigger on this side of the world than the numbers of players on official servers  and because anyone with programming knowledge can script an npc, a quest or even  instances, sure there are mistakes that get fixed along the years unless there is an aegis leak and people just "translate" the official code to the pserver like what happened with HTF and other instances 

 

The big pservers currently employ more people than what warpportal seemingly do 

 

The big issue with playing on psever other than a few servers is that if you take a break there is a high chance the server wont be there anymore while on iRO you can take long breaks and your stuff most likely will be there and there is going to be a couple updates from the last time you left  

The problem is when the main pservers are older than chaos itself, the one I used to play before iro has 13 years online

I wish for new content soon, not intentions to change server, but I'm bored u.u

kRO doesnt updates weekly, so you wont get new maps or items or whatsoever every week. Even if you played a private server, you'd also get bored by that logic.

pservers are BS. they steal content without paying the developers, which makes kRO poor, also iRO poor cos kRO is not that rich to donate content to iRO, so no new content for us.

Maybe they don't release content weekly, but probably faster, and even custom content can be implemented, not a fan of p servers, but is true a lot of people migrated from here to any cheap pservers just to devour the 17.2 content, I hope we get the good stuff soon

I relate to you. I've played iro since early 2004, and love the game itself very much.

 

My rhythm has become this since about 08-09;

-Play iro,

-Make new friends/reconnect with old ones who haven't left

-Remember the flaws in the game's development and/or get sick of having to spend real money to have the tools needed to level and take on content in a fun, efficient manner*

*Yes, I know one can technically max lvl off of porings and npc gear. I know you don't need to spend a dime to make progress, but let's be real here...party leveling is outdated due to the horrible power-creep with players being able to solo instances intended for groups, so that's out. Selling cash shop items is the most efficient way to acquire zeny. Content comes slow, and most servers devolve into cash grabs anyway.

-Quit and play a different game

-Miss RO, try a p-server or two, but eventually poke my head in the warpportal forums

-Find out iro is releasing another new server OR see something hopeful about content and changes written by Camp and try again.

-Rinse and repeat.

 

I'm updating my patchers as we speak, and I'm not sure what I'll find, but I hope it's something good so I can at least repeat the pattern and have fun, even if for a limited time

 

I think what we need is to have representatives of the player-base meet with warpportal staff and a studio representative, and get on the same page with this game and what we all want, which is for the players to have fun and STAY, and for the company to make enough money to stay in business (which they do already, so there's really no incentive unless they decided they wanted most players in iro to enjoy their product long-term).

 

Whoa...as I write this, I realize I'm part of the problem that enables this cycle...dang.

 

TLDR: If anyone's read my posts, I'm usually really optimistic and hope for the best with iro because I'd rather play "legit" than on someone's homebrew server, but I think after all these years reality is sinking into my thick skull.

P.server and official is totally different. P.server is owned by someone while official is owned by a company and does anyone realized this? if you put some negative reviews/criticize on the owner of the server, you'll get instant ban for that. I have seen those rants on RMS forums. Most of them are similar pattern of cases.

 

So what it feels to play a p.server? You go to server A that has been opened fresh for x months, then suddenly something happened such as possible corrupt GM / giving updated contents but some players exploit the bug, then population drops and then you decided to quit. Few weeks later, you then decided to play another server B that has been opened and played for y months... and then quit and so on. Rinse and repeat for next server and on and on. That's the harsh truth for playing p.server

Lmfao do we not pay them enough? Do people not buy every new P2W item that comes to this server? Cause I know I do. We can buy 20 years worth of Kafra costumes, Kashua/OCP's, refine/shadow hammers and still not get updates at all.  Kagerou/Oboro cast ninja spell sprite literally crashes the client, the caltrops are literally 25x25 and it's been that way for a whole 6 years (6 YEARS!!) with no signs of change.  The "Official Server" is wholeheartedly disappointing, especially since all the studio has to do is hit translate and send updates. 

It's like they want to max profit keeping the investment the lowest possible, release content please so 80% of my guild can wake up from hiatus

I think the issue is that most people who play this game frequently have items and equips that any new content will be old in a week or 2. it will be a never ending cycle. this game cannot put out enough content in a good amount of time to hold interest with new content for any established player.

That's the problem. OCPs are just too OP and they will make most future updates "old" or irreverent in few weeks. WP just made a big mistake for handing out OP OCPs like candies years ago. Spoiling players also has backfired too as some players just dont wanna spend and some of them still compare 2k prize medals from old days to 400 prize medals. OCPs that they have will help them level and survive in new maps for years to come, which means, they have no reason to spend at all. New items from keys are so -_- compared to OCPs too.

 

But like most already said. Playing a private server has cons and pros. You just restart your RO journey again and again, which may not be a bad thing lol. iRO players can have all their hard-worked investment but then ... server is so empty. The king of empty server? lol

ppl have been able to be overgeared for the to be released content since years prior to any jro gear release. For as long as i played iro (2012 ish) you were already able to overgear and solo any content in the game.

forget it lmao it was on pserver, even with super OCP and double dip damage from dresses and megin, my IB was 700k/800k tops in the 5x5 area

In the actual state of the server, IB can't inflict critical hits, that's why he using full crit set, you can overhear you RK at this moment but a critical hit makes much more damage with specialized set
