Hello all!

We're all pleased as punch to see returning players coming back to check out the game as we gear up to launch Free to Play on the Premium servers, and just wanted to answer a big question that a lot of you might have.

1. When is the reset NPC coming back?
For those of you who came back after the recent removal of the free skill/stat reset NPC or who procrastinated in bringing a character to see them before the end of the event, the NPC will be returning for two weeks when the F2P goes live in March.

2. Can I write in for a skill/stat reset?
Regarding the post from Heimdallr in the patch notes for people writing in for a stat/skill reset: http://forums.warppo...notes-01202011/.

As of earlier last week the CS Team will not be able to offer the stat/skill reset, you can wait until the NPC returns or use the Kafra Shop neuralizer/reset stones to respec your character.

3. When the NPC comes back, can I talk to them with a previously reset character?
The hypnotist NPC will still remember if you already did a reset on that character during the previous events.

Why not make it so it only resets characters created before x date as well as the "it remembers if you reset on a character before"? Then it wouldn't have to keep being removed due to 'abuse' and returning players would always have a easy way to reset their pre-Renewal skill/stat builds. :P

The stat/skill reset system has always been in the server and marked everyone who already did it, it's just that the user interface to the system (NPC Mesmerist) was removed.

Yeah, and you've just drove this returning player right back away >_>

I sent in for a stat reset just last week. I was told they would be happy to do the reset, but it hadn't happened yet and I get a response to my ticket today saying they can't process my request and pointed me to this post.

Seriously? I've never been told by any customer service that they can do something and then they turn around and say they can't.

So here I am, excited to come back cause a couple of my friends play, but I have characters I can't play with because I was unfortunate enough to not be able to come back when the last stat reset npc was in. And I'm told that I can either wait and not use my characters til March, or *pay more* to be able to actually use my characters now. I'm sure as hell not going to pay extra to just be able to use my characters. And I'm pretty sure I won't wait around til March. Even though I usually enjoy coming back to RO, this time has been quite a disappointment.

I was actually really looking forward to this going f2p, cause I was going to play casually and using the item mall. Not now. I'll never purchase anything from Gravity ever again.

What level are your characters at the moment IonSpeed? In all honesty it might be quicker to just remake than waiting for support to reply to a ticket or for the March NPC. They have the Eden Quests now that make levelling a new character faster and the EXP curve is adjusted for Renewal such that the game only gets back to the old crawl at level 100+ so you may find if you can find a few good spots and still got some equips/gear you can remake in a week. Especially with support of friends.

But I agree with you they should keep the NPC in and restrict it by checking how old the character is or via confirmation code given when they re-activate / link up an old account on WP or something. Then returning players can just log-on, reset and be on their way.

Nah, three of my characters are 99 trans. I didn't finish getting their job levels the last time I was able to play tho :\

And yeah, I don't see why they didn't keep the NPC in. Not everyone can come back at specific times.

The npc is probably still there, but just disabled at the moment, much like that notorious oca npc that appeared by accident. It's apparently always there, just usually disabled.

The reason we are putting the NPC in, instead of by hand is because there are too many requests and too many other tickets. We left the Free Reset in for 3 months, and that is easily long enough for players to make a new character, get to 150 and reset. That was not what the intention of the NPC was at all.

The characters need to be at 0 weight and no cart/pet/mount/bird and it was becoming too much "GM checks" woops not ready, delay task, GM checks next day and again not ready. The time per ticket was absurd, so we are going to put the NPC in for a short duration and get everyone at once.

If there was a way to have the NPC detect how "old" the character was, then we would do that, but that isn't a function that is possible without setting it up in October.

Fine fine. But the real reason I'm angry is that I was told just 2 days ago, in reply to my ticket that "we'll be more than happy to assist with the one time skill/stat reset for players who missed the recent reset NPC event." And today it's like "Well, actually, we don't feel like it." If it's something you're going to stop offering, fine. But if you already told someone you were going to reset stats on their character, you should follow through.

give 3rd class 1 more reset stat n skill, in iro valk we use reset stone to become 3rd class, another server dont need. you must give whoever be 3rd class chance 1 more reset stat n skill, like you rebirth, because you made we need reset stone to 3rd class, its like compensation (sorry if my english bad)

The cost of a stat reset for 3rd jobs is over 4 reset stones while it only consumed 1 reset stone for taking the 3rd job test. In that respect, a free reset for 3rd jobs on Valk due to the quest price is unnecessary.

And understandably so, there was confusion up and down the line when the policy change was made, which resulted in some people being told two completely different things. I'm sorry you got the short end of the stick on the reset. Ostensibly, we would like to welcome players who are coming back to see F2P, not chase them away.

Most char builds didnt change that much, and stats are much less important now anyway. It should be entirely possible to play your chars as intended until the reset NPC comes back then "optimise" your build. You accumulate stats pretty fast post-99, so getting a stat up from 1 doesnt take much.

As a constructive idea, why don't you limit the NPC to non third classes? 99 trans is only 4.74% of the total exp you need for 150 3rd class. Nobody who is coming back is going to be a 3rd class. I'm sure if you mention in big red shiny letters on the change NPCs/Patcher about the skill/stat reset people will get the hint.

The hypnotist NPC will still remember if you already did a reset on that character during the previous events.

Does this mean a character that has already used the reset NPC can't reset? or does this mean that we will have to pay zeny accumatively like last time to reset?

When kRO applies fixes and changes to classes in game in the future, Royal Guard for example, will you provide free resets again?

I would like to know now because I have no intention of paying money to reset my character(s) for reasons related to changing game physics. I would rather leave as many of my characters as I can with their points undistributed than pay $15 each to redo them because of game balancing.

I ask this because with regards to the WoE damage reduction thread, Heim has come forward with the knowledge that there are class balancing patches coming in the future, and that the increased reduction of WoE damage is a temporary fix.

would be a joke to not have free stat/skill resets every major update, for obvious reasons.

"A joke" is how I feel about Gravity's handling of pretty much every issue. That is why I would like some clarification of the issue right now.

Which hypnotist? The zeny one or the one time free skills/stats one? I think the zeny one would be a better idea, if only so returning players get to test the new builds before sticking to one. It would also serve as a fun way to reduce the zeny circulation for those who love to reset their builds, last time people spent several millions on these resets.

When We enter F2P characters will be allowed 1 Free Stat/Skill reset, provided they have not partaken of that particular system since November. That NPC will be made available (he isn't in right now) for 4 weeks. I wish I could announce F2P date right now but there are some systems still in testing that are influencing its launch date.

If in the future significant changes to a class take place we will provide a reset means for a couple of weeks, ie a major Royal Guard Change.
