That makes alot of sense.Basically, you are asking which one is overpowered? I understand you are just trying to narrow down the options but this question tends to annoys me. You are just asking for the easy route.
This game isn't as imbalanced as it once was. I see people play well with all the classes now. Some classes do better against a certain class than another class will. The only ones with a clear disadvantage are the Artisans.
Play the one you want to play and you will be able to make yourself a good PvPer. Or at least I hope....

is it better to have attack speed or to spam skills as a crossbow knight
What are you killing?...
Everything requires context people. Please give us context when you ask questions (PvP, PvM, UW, etc).
For PvM I'd try attack speed as the skills caste slower. Melee damage isn't suppressed in PvM so attack speed would work pretty well.
For 1on1 PvP (TG) I'd prioritize skill spamming since you won't have an attack speed buff and your attack speed will be pretty slow. Only use melees if your skills are on cooldown.
For War-type PvP (UW, PK) where you have cleric buffs and whatnot, I'd say both are equally important. You will have an attack speed buff so your attack speed will be good enough to be effective. But you will also have to use your skills for their effects and extra damage. So you will need to use your stuns and slow shot, then mix in melees with them for optimal dps (dmg per sec). If they run from you use taunt shot and laugh at them as they freak out.
There are a lot of factors that contribute to this though, for example melees and nonreliable skills will be less effective on people with high dodge. So for those people focus more on spamming your reliable skills. On lower defense/dodge/level characters you can just melee away at them. PvP is all about adapting to your situation, there is no straight answer.
Melee damage is suppressed in PvP relative to PvM, so you do less damage with normal attacks to a player than to a monster (if they had same def, dodge, level).
By "melees" I mean normal attacks, which are the only thing affected by attack speed.

http://forums.warppo...at-bonus-chart/ was posted on December 5, 2010 and shows 0.25 AP/DEX for single and two-hand weapons.
However, this post shows 0.35 AP/DEX but was posted 6 months ago (July 2010).
I recently started to play again and I would like to min/max my knight.

I haven't played in over a year and I'm curious about CON.
Does the suggestion con = lvl still apply now?

hmm not smart to use so little sen. ok, depending on what equips you got will affect you. I for one went with about 340str and 140dex if you put math into this their is a ratio. they use exactly the same amount of skill points. the ratio of str is 5sp/3.20ap as for dex its about 13/3.20ap. If you were to use 200 points on dex for example, you would be getting less attack power than you would if you even things out. .I use 200con and through math it will give me 250 accuracy. And with such high attack power your critical would be very affective.Lol. AP means attack power. There is no way to increase your attack speed through stats. I did not mention anywhere that dex or sen would raise attack speed.
Maxing str is not advised. It eats a lot more points than its worth once you pass about 360 str. So I'd stop str around that area. After that, if you want to PvP at all you should have at least 200 con. You can add more depending on whether you can get appropriate buff sets and gear and all. Whatever you have left after that you can put into dex. Maybe leave a few points to put into sen (not more than 50).
I just want to mention, what I wrote should be considered guidelines. You are encouraged to try out different amounts of each stat and see what works best for you. As long as you have a lot of str and con and moderate dex, you can't really mess up.

it should be 0.25Which is the correct modifier for DEX to AP?

other wise it would not be fair to other classes that it has a 0.10 higher deference
