Hullo all! I'm currently working on an quest for June that will be celebrating RO's anniversary (8 years since p2p I believe)and as a relative newbie having started playing around 05 or so and having terrible memory what kind of things old time players might be interested in paying homage to in a quest. The main skeleton of the quest has been created (I want to bring back an old map that is remembered fondly)but if there are old maps, monsters, NPCs and items/rewards that you want to have pop up in the quest, post your ideas here and I will do my best to get them into the proposal.

Glastheim Churchyard
Something that is written in my memory close next to iRO is "Glastheim Churchyard cross priest slaving acolytes".
Since those days, the spawn in the map has changed, but how about a Priest quest NPC in the center of the Cross in the map that has you search for/or kill a hunterfly/flies (event spawn since they are no longer on this map)who has/have been terrorising nearby acolytes he was training?
Another memory of mine is Aldebaran Clocktower
Maybe something involving Clocks/Alarms because they are iconic "clock" based monsters and it's an anniversary?
Also Clocks/Alarms used to be "the place to be" for anybody that wanted to level a "leeching character". (vertically firewalling mages leeching pure forgers or in party with an acolyte, trying to dodge the dangers)

how about a quest event that involves the famous GOD-POING but having her as a mercenary scroll kinda deal, would be cool tbh having a GOD-POING gm sprited merc helping you. IMO she was a relatively big reason why players enjoyed the GM's company or at least in my perspective.
I also do miss april fools day pvp towns doh hohoho.
if those dont work you could always go back to the Very Roots of Ragnarok Online. Bring in some NPC's that are made exclusively after the main characters of the Ragnarok Manhwa like Chaos, Loki, etc.
I remember back in the day wanting comodo to have legitimate gambling maybe celebration of that might work?
btw how come there isnt a Gravity LL etcetc independance day?

I didn't started on iRO, but I guess, some things are the same on every server.
Make the OLD Payon aviable during the event would be great for many players who miss the map, don't remember right anymore or new players who wanna see why old players cry about the map-change XD
I would suggest to make it the prior event map, with the NPC's for the event, maybe with harmless monsters, but peacefull enough so that players can make screens without getting disturbed.

Wow. We started playing the same year! Also you are bringing back Old Payon!? Brando Family is a must.
My absolute favorite Anniversary Event took place in 2005. It was the one where Drake invaded the towns. I remenber fending off the monster invasion in my hometown of Payon. It was so much fun. Maybe have Drake return and get his revenge?
Oh bring back Troy too.
The Blank Card headgear would be a nice reward as well.

I'd love to do something zombie themed as part of the anniversary quest, but I'd want to save it for Halloween and have a whole zombie apocalypse themed event. I think there was a thead with suggestions for that.Oh please, let us have a Night of the Living Dead/Zombie Apocalypse/Army of Darkness event.

A Zombie Apocalypse is better left for a Halloween event. None of that cutesy crap either. Do something seriously entertaining or scary.
As for everything else:
Spare Card, would be brilliant.
Screw the Troy from last year. Barely used & wasn't helpful at all.
Only bring him back if he's the Troy I remember from premiums.

The maps (Morroc is also a great idea!) could be explained with an dream-phase maybe...
Like all the thing's you experience in the event are a dream (but of course, when you "awake", you keep everything ganed in the dream, mysterious x3)

What I remember of the very early times in RO: (I think these are all from early 2004, but I started in 2003. No one told me how to take a screenshot until then!)
Lots of town spawns, and town PvP events:
Juno was a big thing then, as it was the first "area" outside of Rune-Midgard territory. I remember the detail put into the city design really impressed me at the time, especially the murals. Made the MVPs seem even more god-like or epic than they already were to me, being so low-level then:
A very common occurrence back then was the spam-block, which was hilarious fun at times. There's a shot of Old Payon for you all:
