I suggest having a Buff-Fairy in Adventure Plains (boat), Zant (center town) and Junon (entrance of the city), where players below lv70 can get buffs.

Players can talk with this Buff-Fairy and get a full buff which lasts for 1800 seconds (30 minutes) or 3600 seconds (1 hour). The strenght of these buffs should be equal to a Cleric with 400 INT (Max base INT).

What do people think of this idea? :( I am aware most people think that idea's which improve gameplay for high level characters should have priority, but after observing the effect of the Buff-NPC in FlyFF, I think this would certainly have a positive outcome for new players to stick to the game :)

Well as I said it's to help low level characters only. Unless you've ever seen a level 70 character in Eldeon or Orlo?

Since all they do is beg for zulie and buffs in Junon, then yes, I agree. Let them get free buffs.

I have to disagree on this one.

I think Buff Fairy's are a terrible idea.

First of all, it's already far too easy to level up through the first 50 or so levels. I remember staying in birth isle for a couple of hours to reach level 6 or 7 before going to adventurers plains then a further couple of hours there before moving on to the next map.
Last time I started a new character I reached level 20 in 30 minutes without any buffs whatsoever.

Secondly, if you start putting buff fairy's into the game then who is ever going to bother making a cleric again?

I like the idea but I think it should be a lower level, such as once they hit 11 the "buff fairy" stops giving buffs. This will give them time to use it to get their first job but won't make clerics obsolete.

If this were to get implemented may I suggest that the "buff fairy" mentions what buffs are and the class that actually has the skill? I get sick of explaining to people about that..

Not a bad idea, I'd rather see it cut off at 50 tho, maybe even 20 just to finish the job quest with.
Edit: I don't think they should be as strong as cleric buffs as that makes the game too easy for first timers, I believe you should experience the starting area at least once.

Idk, I don't think anyone? Let's make the first 50 lvls harder! Then we can have a reason to add a buff fairy xP

Because a free buff until lvl 50 or 70 defeats the purpose of having a cleric? I don't think so.

Maybe it's the other way around, having free buffs would encourage people to lvl a muse because they suck on their own at low lvl.

I would absolutely go for that. this game is far too easy through the first 50 levels. Still don't like the fairy concept at all though.

No that's not what i was saying.
Buff fairies in every map as somebody suggested earlier would make clerics kinda pointless.
Through the first 50 or 70 levels obviously wouldn't defeat the purpose of having clerics in the game since clerics don't really come into their true power at those kind of levels.

I've seen private servers with Buff Fairies and i always thought it was a terrible idea.
Might just as well give your players increased stats and forget the fairies if all players under level 70 are permanently buffed up to the hilt.

Aren't all players under level 70 already permanently buffed up to the hilt? When was the last time you saw a party leveling without cleric buffs. I don't see what difference it would make having buff fairies in the game.

What Bookies said is true, they are going to have a cleric buffing them in any case.

Btw I don't agree with having them buff fairies in every map :( maybe only in Adventurer's Plain, Zant, Breezy Hills, El Verloon Desert and Anima Lake. That's around lvl 40ish.
It would be fine to have no more free buffs after then because muses will probably have their supportive buffs at a decent lvl already.

Obviously I'm not your average player then.
I don't actually even like being buffed when i start a new character.
I play through the low level maps for drops and because they are just fun. I neither need nor want any more buffs than i can give myself with whatever class character I'm playing.
I've even been known to simply sit down and wait till buffs wear off when a well meaning high level cleric comes along and buffs me without my asking for it.
For me it spoils my experience if i can just breeze through without any challenge. I don't care about getting to level 220 in a week or even ever for that matter.
That's why after 6 years of playing, my highest level character is 170.

I think too much emphasis is placed on the destination (i.e. level 220) and not enough is placed on simply enjoying the long winding scenic route to get there. it should take a bunch longer to get to your second job. In the early days of rose it took weeks if not months or hard graft to reach level 100. It was a major milestone to get the second job. I remember when 50 or 60 was considered "high level" by many players.

Anyway enough of the nostalgia.

I guess in some ways having buff fairies in the first 3 or 4 maps might be preferable to having high level clerics buffing everyone in sight.
That is as long as they don't just automatically cast AOE buffs that catch everyone in range whether they want them or not.
If we ever have buff fairies then the buffs should be on a personal basis and should be activated by talking to them.
That way players like myself can take them or leave them.

That's how almost all MMOs are, people will always look to get to max level as fast as possible.

Max level is boring.
Unless all you really like is PVP or farming what's the point?
I hate PVP personally.

how on earth did you do that....

By spreading my play time across 15 characters in 3 accounts. i also don't have more than 5 or 6 hours per week of time to play.

I NEVER heard anyone complain about getting buffed, EVER -_-

I never actually complained. That would be rude. If i don't want the buffs I just go some place safe and wait for them to wear off. It's a good chance to go make a sandwich or a cup of coffee.

One potential reason for not wanting buffs is that i like to take posed screenshots to make cartoon strips. like this http://rose.kuro-tej...?m=5&fft=1&id=1

In my opinion, you should really achieve max lvl with at least one char, yust for the "fun" and sence of achievement. It personally gave me an awesome feeling when I got 220 with my buddies after endless and endlesssss fights :D. I do understand your personal prefferences though.

ONTOPIC: Buff fairies should not be implemented in any map of Rose. When you start the game as a (true) novice, without any knowledge of the game, you are absolutely unknown to the strengths obtained by buffs. Besides that you have to learn the basics of the game by getting to know the environment and differences between mobs. You achieve this by doing quests and sightseeying. Since Rose is a MMORPG you should gain experience by the social aspect of it, wich is: multiplayer(ing). Talking to players, and getting buffed by friends on the way is part of this experience, not by leveling extremely fast because of buffs automatically given by ferries.

I find that only advanced players truly benefit from buff feries. But since they are "advanced" players they should already have made friends to help them in difficult parts of the Rose gameplay.

So I vote no B)

I don't disagree with anything nikst3r said and think that's a fair reason not to implement them. Although I still don't think it would hurt to have them in the game.

Here I agree as well but:

When you start the game as a (true) novice, without any knowledge of the game, you are absolutely unknown to the strengths obtained by buffs.

I don't think this is true. I mean, every MMO out there has some sort of 'buff'-feature added to it.

One option to get around this problem would be to either implement a quest to talk to a buff fairy in AP or make one of those notification things pop up and tell you to do it.

Really?? :P

I can't think of a single MMORPG that I ever played that has anything like this. (and I've played a LOT of MMORPGs)
Care to name drop a few where you've seen it?

[ABE] I'm only referring to the originals and not PServer versions. Those things are loaded with buffers.

I said 'sort of'. I can't think of any game where there is at least one class which is capable of using some kind of magic spel on another player to enhance his or her stats.
