Aren't all players under level 70 already permanently buffed up to the hilt? When was the last time you saw a party leveling without cleric buffs. I don't see what difference it would make having buff fairies in the game.
Obviously I'm not your average player then.
I don't actually even like being buffed when i start a new character.
I play through the low level maps for drops and because they are just fun. I neither need nor want any more buffs than i can give myself with whatever class character I'm playing.
I've even been known to simply sit down and wait till buffs wear off when a well meaning high level cleric comes along and buffs me without my asking for it.
For me it spoils my experience if i can just breeze through without any challenge. I don't care about getting to level 220 in a week or even
ever for that matter.
That's why after 6 years of playing, my highest level character is 170.
I think too much emphasis is placed on the destination (i.e. level 220) and not enough is placed on simply enjoying the long winding scenic route to get there. it should take a bunch longer to get to your second job. In the early days of rose it took weeks if not months or hard graft to reach level 100. It was a major milestone to get the second job. I remember when 50 or 60 was considered "high level" by many players.
Anyway enough of the nostalgia.
I guess in some ways having buff fairies in the first 3 or 4 maps might be preferable to having high level clerics buffing everyone in sight.
That is as long as they don't just automatically cast AOE buffs that catch everyone in range whether they want them or not.
If we ever have buff fairies then the buffs should be on a personal basis and should be activated by talking to them.
That way players like myself can take them or leave them.
