New to Requiem? Not sure on which server to start?

Requiem has 2 servers currently, Lintra doesn't exist anymore since it was merged with the Valdes server.

- Valdes - Populated non-PK Server.

- Hammerine - Populated PK Server.

Valdes is probably the most populated server but pretty much the only difference between them is that you can PK (Player Killing) on Hammerine.

Thought, being on Hammerine doesn't mean that you'll get killed non-stop by high levels until you rage quit! As long as you do not attack a high level player, they cannot touch people lower level than them. Also, PK is disabled on the starting map (Turba) and there is a few safe zones like Wing riders or graveyards (Trifri in South Hammerine Wood is an exception).

Just started to download the game and you're unsure of what class and race to choose yet? There's currently 4 playable races and each of them has different classes.

Leveling speed Chart:

Slow--> Medium --> Fast --> Extremly fast --> Like Lightning.

Good at PvP Chart:

Crap --> Weak --> Medium --> Great --> Overpowered.

Popularity Chart:

Rare --> Unpopular --> Medium --> Popular --> Even your grandma has one.

AoE = Area of Effect, this refers to skills that cause damage or buff / debuff effects on an area or multiple targets.

DPS = Damage Per Second, this is usually used to refer to a damage dealing class, or one that specializes in offense.

HoT = Heal over Time.

DoT = Damage over Time.

Posted Image

Posted Image

Defender: Basically a tank or meat shield, the Defender class take the damage for the party so that other weak physically classes like casters don't have to. They do low damage but can take a beating and solo much easier then some other classe.

Leveling speed: Medium.

PvP: Weak.

Popularity: Medium.

At Lvl 50, a Defender can choose to become a Commander or a Protector.

Commander: Commander is the more damage oriented side of the Defender class; it has a few melee AoEs, a dash, silence, slow, etc. Unfortunatly, the class only get their stun immunity at Lvl 74 which make them a bit weak in PvP until then. Can still tank grind parties and raids fine but are very reliant on good healers.

Leveling speed: Medium-Fast.

PvP: Medium until Lvl 74. 74+ = Great.

Popularity: Medium.

Protector: Protector is the more defensive oriented side of the Defender class; defense/block buffs, HoTs and party wide HoT; pretty much the pure tanking/paladin class of Requiem. Protectors can do really well in parties without a healer but do less damage than a Commander and aren't really a PvP class.

Leveling speed: Extremely fast with parties, slow if not.

PvP: Weak.

Popularity: Medium.

Templar: An excellent mage with great heals, the class is a bit weaker damage wise compared to Shamans or Battle-Magicians but have many interesting spells like Sleep, a slow and heals.

Leveling speed: Fast.

PvP: Great.

Popularity: Popular.

At Lvl 50, a Templar can choose to become a Radiant or a Tempest.

Tempest: Tempest is a strong lightning AoE class, it has all the arsenal of the Templar like Lesser Heal and Sleep plus the deadly Tempest spell Lightning Restraint which can slow down a whole group of mobs or players. Because of the combination of heals and AoE spells, Tempest is one of the fastest leveler at high levels.

Leveling speed: Like Lightning.

PvP: Great-Overpowered.

Popularity: Even your grandma has one.

Radiant: Radiant is the pure healing class of Requiem; they have party heals, quite a few buffs, a silence, Mana Shield, a resurrection spell, etc. Extremely strong class in groups, Radiants have low damage and are pretty lackluster solo.

Leveling speed: Extremely fast with parties, slow if not.

PvP: Overpowered.

Popularity: Unpopular-Medium.

Posted Image

Posted Image

Warrior: Like two-handed weapons and huge crits? Warriors have a charge, fear, a good chunk of HP but less defense than Defenders.

Leveling speed: Medium-fast.

PvP: Medium.

Popularity: Medium.

At Lvl 50, a Warrior can choose to become a Berserker or a Warlord.

Berserker: Berserker is the direct upgrade of the Warrior; melee stun, more single target damage, more critical, attack speed buff, etc.

Leveling speed: Medium.

PvP: Great.

Popularity: Medium.

Warlord: Warlords have less single target damage compared to Berserkers but a pletora of party buffs and AoE skills which the Berserker class lack. Especially loved in raids for the buffs.

Leveling speed: Medium.

PvP: Weak.

Popularity: Rare.

Shaman: Fire based caster class with some small heals; Shaman is the caster with the most HP and also has very high damage.

Leveling speed: Fast-Extremely fast.

PvP: Great.

Popularity: Even your grandma has one.

At Lvl 50, a Shaman can choose to become a Mystic or a Forsaker.

Mystic: Master of AoEs, the Mystic also has quite a few spells to help the party like Healing Totem, Protection Totem and Healing Fairy.

Leveling speed: Like Lightning.

PvP: Medium-Great.

Popularity: Medium.

Forsaker: The Forsaker class has less AoE damage but much more single target damage and PvP utility thanks to Chaos Totem (Fear totem), Loas curse (slow), etc.

Leveling speed: Fast.

PvP: Great.

Popularity: Medium.

Posted Image

Posted Image

Rogue: Fast attacker with medium damage and high critical; more pvp oriented with stealth, dashes and ambushing as their primary tactic, can also use crossbows.

Leveling speed: Medium.

PvP: Medium-great.

Popularity: Popular

At Lvl 50, a Rogue can choose to become an Assassin or a Shadow Runner.

Assassin: The Assassin class specialize in stealth and their multitude of stuns, buffs removal, slow, steal weapon, etc. Their main weapon are dual swords but they can also use a crossbow or claws.

Leveling speed: Medium-Fast.

PvP: Great.

Popularity: Popular.

Shadow Runner: Shadow Runners specialize in ranged crossbow skills but can still use dual swords or claws to ambush someone followed by a deadly explosive arrow. They rely on killing an enemy before it gets to them rather then stunning it and killing it in close range like Assassins.

Leveling speed: Medium.

PvP: Medium-Great.

Popularity: Unpopular.

Soul Hunter: Soul Hunters don't really have any heals compared to the other mage classes with the exception of a life leech spell. They use pets to help them and specialize in curse damage, DoTs, roots and fears.

Leveling speed: Medium.

PvP: Medium.

Popularity: Medium.

At Lvl 50, a Soul Hunter can choose to become a Defiler or a Dominator.

Defiler: What makes Defilers unique compared to other AoE specialists is the famous Trap of Stiffness (Terms of Service) which is an AoE stun. Few things are more fustrating than having your whole team stunned by a single Defiler; very wanted class for grind groups and also champion of solo grind like Tempests.

Leveling speed: Like Lightning.

PvP: Overpowered.

Popularity: Even your grandma has one.

Dominator: The summoner class of Requiem; unfortunatly, due to the sillyness of the Devs, Dominators are a very rare breed because the class is very weak and relies too much on weak pets. Can level up pretty fast since they can afk grind with pets.

Leveling speed: Medium-Fast.

PvP: Weak.

Popularity: Rare.

Posted Image

Hunter
: Long range damage dealers, they have medium damage and also have high damaging trap skills. Hunters are somewhat squishy up close and prefer to kill at long range before enemies reach them. Their main weapon is the Launcher which use Ion Energy as ammunition.

Leveling speed: Medium.

PvP: Medium-Great.

Popularity: Medium.

At Lvl 50, a Hunter can choose to become a Ranger or an Avenger.

Ranger: More range, more launcher damage, Stealth detection, etc, Ranger is the class with the longest range which make them one of the most deadly classes in PvP.

Leveling speed: Medium-Fast.

PvP: Overpowered.

Popularity: Popular.

Avenger: Instead of getting more range and gun damage like Rangers; Avengers focus on deadly traps, monster taming and debuffs. Can easily blow up someone before they have time to say ''wtf''. The current monster taming system isn't really great which makes the capture skills a bit useless.

Leveling speed: Medium.

PvP: Overpowered.

Popularity: Popular.

Battle-Magician: High single target magic damage mage with ranged stuns, some heals and a travel form to make them move faster.

Leveling speed: Medium-Fast.

PvP: Great.

Popularity: Popular.

At Lvl 50, a Battle-Magician can choose to become an Elementalist or a Druid.

Elementalist: Caster with the highest single target magic damage and some of the best buffs in the game, Elementalist is a very wanted class for raids and a formidable enemy in PvP.

Leveling speed: Medium-Fast.

PvP: Great-Overpowered.

Popularity: Popular.

Druid: Druids is the physical aspect of Battle-Magicians; they have access to a melee dps form (Inferno) and a meat shield form (Doomguard). Not a very popular class due to a lack of armors to support their various forms and the difficulty to level them up; nonetheless Druids can be great raid tanks in Doomguard and great PvP'ers with all their arsenal.

Leveling speed: Medium.

PvP: Medium-Great.

Popularity: Rare.

Welcome to Requiem: Memento Mori! This is the US version of the Korean MMO Requiem: Alive which is currently published by Gravity Interactive.

Posted Image

========================================
Getting Started!
========================================

Question #1; I do not live in the US, can I play Requiem?

Yes, even though this is the US version, there is no IP ban and you can play it UNLESS there is a local version of the game close to you; more informations about the exceptions can be found here.

Question #2; The official download is so slow, is there other ways to download the game?

Yes, you can download the game in 3 parts from the MegaUpload links in my signature and you can also can try the filefront download from Ioxenic here.

Question #3; I can't patch! I keep getting ''Failed Patch Download'', what can I do?

Sakana has a thread about manual patching which he updates weekly here.

Question #4; Okay I can log on but what server should I choose?

There's currently 2 servers, one is PK and the other is non-PK; more informations about them can be found here.

Question #5; What race or class should I choose?

Requiem has currently 4 playable races and each one of them has different classes; more informations about them can be found here.

Question #6
; Is there any ways to see the faces and hairs of all races? I'm really not sure about which to pick.

Faces and hairs of all races can be found here.

Question #7; I'm in-game but I have no ideas how the game works.. where can I look up quests, tips or general game mechanics?

Requiem Wiki holds a lot of general datas about Requiem; items, quests, skills, etc. Some informations could be outdated so do your part and update it when you're more knowledgeable!

Kruxena is a Requiem database which seems pretty popular lately.

Reinforcement, Enchanting, Compounding, Reducing systems.

Guild War system.

SvS and Theme Battle Times.

Possession Beasts system.

Question #8; Is this game mostly quests leveling or is it grindy?

There's a lot of quests and the Devs are implementing new ones pretty often which make Requiem almost without grind until higher levels; but of course as a free player there will be times where you will need to grind when a paying player will just need to quest.

Question #9; How overpowered is the Cash Shop (Item Mall) in this game?

I would say pretty overpowered but it is still possible to do okay without spending anything, it just requires more times and work. You can also buy Cash Shop items with in-game currency if some players are selling Item Mall points for Lant (Not approved by Gravity but also not forbidden; you'll have only yourself to blame if you get scammed since Gravity will not restore anything).

Question #10; What are battlefields and how do they work?

More information about battlefields can be found here.

Question #11; There's players spamming general chat with Lant selling messages for real life money in the starting area, are those legit? Or what I can do to ignore them since it's annoying?

Those are chinese gold sellers and it's a bannable offense to buy from them. You'll need to send a ticket to support here so that GMs can act and ban them; but your only options to clean your chat from those pests is to either block them (There's a block tab in the Community window UI) or to simply make a chat tab without General chat enabled.

Question #12; I don't want to spend money for a temporary mount, is there a way to get one for free?

Yes, you can get a permanent mount at Lvl 29 with a quest; it's only +20% speed but you'll be happy to have it in the future! Rucia in Nova Lux will start the quest and for more informations, look here.

Question #13; I see that we have 5 bag slots total, where can I get them?

The second, third and fourth bags can be acquired by doing the quests at the starting area of Turba; the fifth bag can only be bought with the Item Mall (Bag Expansion 500 points) and will also unlock ALL your bag slots if you didn't do your quests yet. And no, you cannot have more than 5 bags right now.

Question #14; How can I buy stacks of ammos or potions from the NPC? It takes so long buying 1 by 1.

Press left shift and drag the item in your bags; the same can be done to divide a stack in your bags.

Question #15; I've bought some WP Energy to spend on Requiem, what would be the best Cash Shop items to buy or would Premium be good?

Premium (800 WP Energy) is the best investment you can make since it'll dramatically increase your EXP gained (50%) and the Lant/Drops gained (30%); you will also have access to Regional chat, extra bank slots and Premium dungeons and lose less EXP when you die. If you convert the rest of your WP Energy into Item Mall points, buying a Reduction Tool 30 days (200 Mall points) and a Costume (150 Mall points) would help you greatly to level up. A Mount, 30% EXP scroll, Pet, 50% Lant scroll would come next but they wouldn't be as needed as the Reduction Tool and Costume.

Question #16; I bought a Reduction Tool 30 days from the Item Mall but I can't find it in my bags? Where is it?

Open your Cash Shop window and click on the ''Manage Items'' button at the bottom! The timer on your items will not start until you drag it to your bags.

Posted Image

========================================
General Questions
========================================

Question #17; I keep hearing about S1, S2 and even S3... what is that?

S2 Memento Mori was the first major revamp of the game and it's our current version. Players tend to refer to the pre-S2 era as ''S1'' and S3 is only a rumor of a mysterious and unconfirmed update in the future.

Question #18; Do we get a skill reset at Lvl 50 when we job change?

No, you will need to buy a Skill Reset from the Item Mall to reset your skills and DNAs.

Question #19; How can I get more than 25 DNA points?

For now, there is no way to increase your amount of DNA points.

Question #20; Where do I get my Possession Beast?

The mayor of Zakate (Turba) will give you the quest at Lvl 23. but it will require you to go in the Ruins of Lament at the end which will be really difficult unless you find a party or level up a bit.

Question #21; I'm confused by the Personal Shop interface or how to open it.

Informations about Personal Shops can be found here.

Question #22; Does the Cash Shop pet gain EXP by killing monsters?

No, the Item Mall pets gain a certain % every 10~ minutes that it's summoned; meaning that people who afk in-game all day and night will get a high level pet quickly.

Question #23; How do I use a Pet Extention/Pet Name Change/Pet Growth Booster?

Right click on your Pet item in your bags and it'll give you a list of options. Also, do note that you can't change the name of your pet if it's summoned.

Question #24; Where can I see Lvl 10 form of Pets? o.o

You can find the skins of most pets here and the skins of the Grim Reaper pet here.

Question #25; I'm so poor! How do you actually make Lant in this game?

A Reduction Tool from the Item Mall will save you a LOT of Lant and will make you rich since you'll be able to sell the Basic Xeons; but mostly, your biggest income of Lant will be from selling items on the AH, from grinding (Premium and a Lant scroll will increase the amount of lant a lot) and from selling junk to the NPCs. Selling Item Mall points for Lant will make you rich quickly too if you feel like spending money.

Question #26; Party, alliance, corps.. I'm confused by all those grouping fonctions.. care to explain?

  • A Party is your basic group; can have 5 players total maximum and each player will add a 10% EXP bonus, +40% EXP for a full party of 5. The command to invite to a party is /party name or /in name.
  • An Alliance party is a bigger group to kill raid bosses or do battlefields; it can has 15 players (3 parties of 5) but there is no EXP bonus like the smaller Party. The command to invite to an alliance is /united name.
  • A Corps is a combination of 3 different alliances, it can hold 45 players maximum. You can invite an alliance to your Corps by inviting the Alliance leader of another Alliance with the /Corps name command. Also, in a Corps, only the Corps leader can talk to the whole Corps; everyone is entitled to their own Alliance and the Corps leader will only see the chat of his own Alliance and the typing of the other 2 Alliance leaders.

Question #27; I'm new to the MMORPG world and I'm really confused by all the terms and acronyms used by everyone.

Classes, Raids and Events Questions
========================================

Question #28; When can I get my 2nd class?

At Lvl 50; a notice will pop up to tell you where to job change.

Question #29; I've heard about job change items, does it mean I could go from Shaman to Templar? And where do I get those job changes?

Classes are race specific, so no you couldn't go from a Bartuk class to a Turan class; but you could change from Shaman to Warrior thought. For a player who hasn't picked a 2nd class yet, you will need a ''Lower Job Change Certificate'' which can be acquired from certain events or Item Mall special events. A 2nd class character like a Forsaker or Tempest, etc, will need a ''Upper Job Change Certificate'' to switch; and will only have access to his race specific classes.

Question #30; What's a raid? o.0

The main difference between an instance and a raid is that you'll need much more than 5 people to down a Raid boss and he'll drop much more shiny items. :rolleyes:

Question #31; Ok so where are those raids and how I find a group for one?

The current raid instances in level order are: Ruinhorn (67+), Biskra (68+), Doom Cheras (70+), Lord Werinuman (71+) , Jacob Shrine (72-75+), Secret Temple (77+). Your best chance to find a raid group is to have a guild with people willing to do them too.

Question #32; I did Ruinhorn earlier and I tried to do it again but I was unable to enter the raid instance? What's up with that?

  • Raid instances have a lockout; meaning that when you kill a boss, you cannot do it again until the lockout resets. Depending on the raid, lockouts last 1-3 days and are also reset with the weekly maintenance.
  • I've seen the HH (Happy Hour) notices from the GMs in-game, where could I find more informations about them?
  • HH informations are Myspace exclusive and you will need to create a Myspace account and become a friend of the Requiem Myspace to see them here.

Question #33
; Anything special I should know about events?

  • HHs happens from time to time and on the chosen days, there will be 3 of them (3x 1 hour) randomly activated during the day by the GMs. They can be 30% EXP, 100% Lant, 100% Drops, 10% Enchanting Success or 10% Reinforcement Success.
  • We also have seasonal events like Halloween, Christmas, etc, who comes with special goodies, rates, drops, cash shop items and much more sometime!
  • Gravity also has Premium or Points discounts from time to time.

Posted Image

========================================
Technical Questions
========================================

Question #34; Is there some kind of weekly or monthly maintenance?

All servers are down for maintenance every Thursday from 3h pm pacific time (GMT -8) to 7h pm.

Question #35; I've seen a bot or a hacker in-game, what can I do to report them?

GMs don't look at the forums so you will need to send a ticket to support here. Also, taking fraps (More informations about fraps here) or/and screenshots as proofs to include them in your ticket will help the GMs.

Question #36; I'm a returning player and I don't remember my old passcodes, is there any ways to reset them?

Yes, send a ticket to support here.

Question #37; I'm lagging and crashing a LOT and I have a pretty good computer, what is going on?

Due to major coding flaws, the game tends to lag quite a bit in some situations and even crash. There is also a need to load skill effects when you log in hence the lags when you cast spells with animations for the first time.

There's many people getting the same issue so I though about creating something like this. Are you getting "You are not allowed to view this content." when attempting to create a Requiem account? This might be the answer why.

Again we do not IP block or ban people from playing from these countries, however because we do have partners in those countries with a local version we have restricted them from creating new accounts. And our partners have done the same for our users.
Off the top of my head:

Most of South East Asian including: Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, japan
and Russia

This is not an exact list but rough idea of areas. Pretty much if you have a local version of Requiem, chances are you cannot create a new account.

Requiem: Memento Mori Enchantment System

While reinforcing will increase the basic stats/damage/defense of an item, with enchanting, you can add the stat or effect you want as long as you have free enchant slots.

Let's take those Acer Dual Swords as an exemple. There is currently no enchants on them and if we wanted, we could enchant them one time maximum. ''Enchanting Stage 0/1''
Posted Image

There is different kind of enchants; some are for ornaments only, some are for armors only and some others are for weapon only. You will know just by looking at the Xeon.
Posted Image

There is also 2 kind of Xeons; stats Xeons like the Ruinhorn's Claw above which give ''Magic Damage 6.0 - 6.0'' and there is special skill Xeons which will give a special effect or buff like this:
Posted Image

This one will give an extra 15% Skill Critical for 20 seconds randomly. Only one skill Xeon can be enchanted on an item at a time. Basically, one skill Xeon can be enchanted and as many stats Xeons as you want as long as there is free enchanting slots.

To enchant an item, you will need to visit an Enchant NPC (usually close to the Reinforcement npc in a blacksmith shop). The enchanting window will appear.
Posted Image

Similar to how you reinforce;

  • You will need to insert the item you want to enchant in the first slot
  • followed by the skill or stat Xeon you wish to insert in the item in the second slot
  • then the Basic Xeons (Simple Basic Xeons if your item is Ordinary, Supernus Basic Xeons if your item is Supernus, etc) in the third slot
  • the fourth slot is for Cash Shop coupons which will increase the % success. You're not forced to use one.
Posted Image

We can see here that I have 100% chance to enchant 7 CON and 15 Long Range Defense to this piece of armor.

The first enchant on an item is 100% success chance.
The second enchant is 90%
The third enchant is 70%
The fourth enchant is 50%
The fifth enchant is 30%
The sixth enchant is 20%
The seventh enchant is 10%..

Higher level is your item, more enchanting slots it has.

*Note; there is enchanting events sometime which will increase your % success rate; and it stacks with the 10% enchanting success rate increase coupons from the Cash Shop.

Requiem: Memento Mori Compounding System

In S2, there is not much Compounding anymore, it's an outdated system. But you can still Compound Basic Xeons into better Xeons. You will find a Compound NPC close to the other crafting NPCs.
Posted Image

This window will open when you talk to a Compound NPC. Here you have many choices but basically, you insert 2 times an equal amount of Xeons to compound them into an higher grade.

Posted Image

Here I took 2x 100 Simple Basic Xeons to try and compound them into 100 Supernus Xeons. 70% success chance for Simple ---> Supernus and 51k lants. A bit expensive. x-x

You can do the same with all grades.

Simple ---> Supernus
Supernus ---> Eximius
Eximius ---> Rare
Rare ---> Carus
Carus ---> Mysterious

Requiem: Memento Mori Reducing System

Reducing is to take an item and destroy it to get Basic Xeons out of it; it's the best way to get Basic Xeons. You have 2 ways to reduce; with a Reduction NPC (he's usually close to the other crafting NPCs too) and with a Reduction Tool from the Cash Shop. Here is the Reduction window which will appear:
Posted Image

it's very simple. You simply insert the item you want to reduce in the first slot, which will give this with a Supernus item:
Posted Image

If I press ''OK'', the item will be reduced after a few seconds and I will get some Simple Basic Xeons and a good shot at the Supernus Basic Xeons.

*Note, the Item Reduction Tool from the Cash Shop is recommended (Cost 200 Item mall points for 30 days) since it will save you a LOT of Lant (Reducing with a Tool will cost you 0 Lant plus you will be able to reduce wherever you want).

You've seen quite a few personal shops in town and you're wondering how it works?

First, to open the Shop interface, you can either type /Shop or..
Posted Image

Click the Action button to open this window and drag the Shop icons to your bars.
Posted Image

The shop window will open.
Posted Image

You'll need to type a Vending message like I did above ''Selling Supernus Xeons''. Before dragging what you wish to sell, make sure you've divided the stacks in the amount you want to sell.

Then you'll just need to list the price of the item (It will also tell you how much you're selling each item; it says 500 Lant per Supernus Basic Xeon right now).

Just click ''Start Selling'' when you're done and this window will appear.
Posted Image

You're now in ''Shop Mode'' and can't move until you cancel it. To do so, type /sellcancel or simply click the close shop button from the Action window.
