So i have a genetic dedicated to mixed cooking, and while hunting for ingredients to be the exquisite chef i am, it occurred to me today..

Why are some of the drop rates so stupidly rare?

I can understand not wanting the market to be over-saturated in +20 foods... But when some of the ingredients are so rare, especially in comparison to some of the others...and that it takes you a entire hour to gather 1 or 2 of them... it makes me wonder why they even made the items exist in the first place. And don't get me started on drop penalty...it just makes it absolutely brutal trying to even get some of the ingredients..

It's almost like the drops are so rare, the only possible way to get them is by botting! yeahhh no. If you want to prevent that, give their drops to some higher level monsters, with a decent drop rate!

Lets have a look at some of the ingredients and how rare they are, shall we?

Savage BBQ - Requires 1 Savage meat, 1 cooking skewer,1 black charcoal,1 Melange pot
Savage meat - Dropped by...
Savage - 0.1%, Savage bebe - 0.02%
(rest of ingredients are buyable in al-de)

Why are these savage meats so rare? It almost feels like the developers accidentally moved the decimal over by 1 point... it feels like savages should drop them at 1% instead. I can understand the baby savages not having much meat...cause well...they're not that developed...but at least the savages should drop them at a much higher rate! Or at least give them a higher drop rate to something like the Gullinbursti...

Drosera Herb Stew - Requires 3 red herbs, 3 Blue herbs,3 White herbs, 3 Drosera tentacles, 1 Melange pot, 1 Large cookpot
(Herbs are relatively easy to hunt)
Drosera Tentacle - Dropped by....
Drosera - 2%

This one is relatively okay.. My only nitpicking is the drosera's tentacles are a bit...rare..considering it takes 3 tentacles to even attempt, and how tough the droseras are. It's just nitpicking, but i would really like it if the drosera tentacles were bumped up to 5%, or only require 1-2 tentacles per attempt.

Minor Brisket - Requires 2 Beef heads, 1 Melange pot, 1 Large cookpot
Beef head: dropped by...
Minorous - 0.1%
Majorous - 3%

I think the rates for these are fine, though i would like the minorous to be bumped up to somewhere between 0.2%-0.5%. These guys are supposed to be freaking meaty!

Wug blood C-ocktail - Requires 3 blood of wolf, 2 cold ice
Blood of wolf - Dropped by...
Baby desert wolf - 2%
Desert wolf - 2%
Cold ice - Dropped by....
Ice titans - 5%

Now this one has me confused... It's easy to gather blood from baby desert wolves, but adults generate as much blood as their young ones? I kinda feel that desert wolves should drop blood of wolves at 4% or 5%. If we follow this rule, shouldn't the savage meat also drop at 2% from savage bebes, and 5% from savages?...hmmm.... (Also, please change it to Wolf blood C-ocktail, and not wug...consistant translation please!)

Siroma Iced Tea - Requires 1 Comodo Tropical fruit, 2 ice crystals, 3 ice piece, 1 Melange pot
(comodo tropical fruit is buyable in comodo)
Ice crystal - Dropped by...
Iceicle - 5%
Ice piece - Dropped by
Freezer - 2%
Gazeti - 2%

Ice pieces seem a bit harder to gather than the ice crystals.. considering how easy it is to smack icicles, and you only need 2 per attempt, compared to three ice pieces. Then again, iceicles are stationary and there aren't THAT many around. I just feel like ice pieces should be a little easier to gather..

Petti Tail Noodle - Requires 2 Petti's Tail, 1 fine noodle, 1 cool gravy, 1 Melange pot
Petti tail - Dropped by...
Earth petite(Green) - 0.4%

Now, this would be fine for a drop rate if there was only a higher drop rate, preferrably 2% from earth deleters...but unfortunatly, this is the only way of obtaining those petite tails. And it's not thsoe tails you get normally,it's a special type of tail that is different than the dragon tails you get from the dragons. This is kinda like the savage case, it's pretty rare and you require 2 of these to even try a attempt to make one. I would really like some better way of getting this..maybe have it drop at 5% from Green feruses?
(Side note: whats a Petti? oh right, a petite. again, consistant translation please!)

Don't get me started on the supidly rare items for genetic skills. Prickly fruit? lol insane to get a decent amount of these for skills that are easily destroyed with all the fire attacks in woe being spammed.

Have you seen the cookbooks for stat foods between lvl's 1-6? Half the items are just as bad to try and attempt on those levels, than the foods that go PAST 6. So I can understand how much harder it is to cook for a freakin' Genetic. Still a bit miffed that only Genetics can cook +20 foods, but whatever.

And don't even get me started on success rates, /pif

anything below lvl 20 food aren't worth attempting anymore, since a lot of the items for 7-10 foods are quite difficult to get as well. Might as well jump straight to the +20's

The real reason they're worthless now is because there are no stat bonuses. They'd still be worth something if someone trying to reach a certain goal could just pop one of those and get it without needing to waste money on the +20s or even the Kafra Shop +10s.

oh yea almost forgot about that, very true. the dex is still fairly useful for a small boost in cast time for skills like severe rain i guess.

Also dont forget the drop rate is even lower if your character is a much higher lvl than the monster you are killing.

Oh I wasn't talking about the effectiveness of stat foods. Especially since these days being VIP you could just pop in to Eden an' get a +7 Bonus (Can that even be stacked with stat foods? I mean it might be useful but not much), but I was referring to the ingredients needed for such recipes. If making any stat food below +20 is difficult, why should +20 get a better chance of getting made before the other recipes do?

Just wondering.

Hi, welcome to the internet. This is a forum. We discuss things here. Discussions start at one point and lead, usually logically, into other points.

Drop rates play into crafting for certain classes. This leads to the question of whether or not crafting certain items is even worth it due to the various difficulties. We then discuss our idea of "worth" and give some pros and cons as to why or why not it may be worth doing. We also throw in some other contributing factors since we are, well, communicating and we'd really not get far if we all just sat here discussing one point and one point only all day long.
