I have a templar at level 38. This was actually my first character and I haven't really played him since I started my others, so it's been a bit more than a year. I logged onto him today and his skill points are all reset and I figured it might be fun to play him. I was trying to decide whether to go radiant or tempest and after looking at the skills, I think I've decided on tempest. Radiant is very survivable and I enjoy that about a class, but my druid already has that so I want to play a kaboom class. I still look to survivability as an important attribute, though, so I do intend to focus a bit on the heals that I get as a templar and I still want to try to be useful to a party in ways other than casting the spells that makes the people fall down.

I've created this build for level 65, because that's generally a not-so-hard level to reach and a common one for builds. I'm looking for feedback on your opinions of the spells and abilities I'm choosing because I don't know much about templar classes and their spells, not sure what's good and what isn't. However, please keep in mind the things I find important to a class, survivability and help to a party. I also don't need to be a dominating factor in PvP, but I want to be relevant to my team.

What would you change?

Also, any suggestions on gear along the way would be appreciated.

I like that build a lot. I took one rank out of boh and added it to concentration. I've always liked that buff and I want to have at least one rank. Besides, the difference between 5 and 6 ranks of boh is just the buff duration. There is no increased speed with that one rank. That build does make a lot of sense and I think I'll run with that.

Expanded your build to 79. What do you think? http://kruxena.com/s...0,0,0,0,0,2,1,0

One question, though. Why does pretty much every build I find have one rank of Elec Twister?

i like Elec Twister (L6 cause had points left) to finish off mobs or ppl in pvp.

a tempest does not need concentration or other MP/MP recovery buffs. even in long raids you (should) not run out of MP.

Well, I often run out of mp with my druid but it's less of a problem with my mystic. Either way, though, I always like to be buffed when a Radiant in the party has BR - even though on my druid it only slightly delays my complete depletion of mana. So, I guess concentration is more of a paranoia of mine.

Going to 6 ranks of Elec Twister from 1 only gives an extra 19 damage and 3/2 sec for 5 ticks (15 damage) so only another 34 damage over 10 seconds.

probally paranoia. tempests really dont need mp buffs.

i dont use it for the dot(except for pvp vs sin/sr/...). at L6 it hits 6 targets with my "default" dmg and has 6m range. i like that, but its not "needed" , L1 is fine too.

you don't really need elec twister but had a point spare and helps little with grind at lower lvl

every lvl of boh decreases speed so at lvl 10 it will reduce by 1.0

sadly as you lvl up to 79 you need to really drop both elec and charged bolts to lvl 1 to max your aoes and buffs and most prefer extended dna on aoes as in the long run will give more dmg than 31 dmg from magic mastery

I am no expert and I haven't calculated because I am too lazy, but, Magic Mastery DNA effects every AoE (and others) so I would assume in the long run it does more damage.

all tempest aoes do 5 tics, 10/2sec

if you do let's say 1000 dmg so that's 5000 dmg

now with magic mastery dna lvl 6 +31 you will do 1031 x5= 5155 dmg

with extended dnas lr lvl 7 and holy lvl 5, you will gain additional 9 tics = 14000 dmg + people/mobs are slowed for longer

so umm whats the final verdict on build cause i really dont wanna be using one that isnt good..... basically is this a healer with back up damage capabilitues or would i just need to go radiant? my friend recentlly just reinstalled requiem and im going to be playing the healer as he wants to play berserker so wanting a build that heals/buffs but can possibly help damage a little as well if need be.

Tempest is much more of a damage dealer than a healer, you should prob go radiant, especially if you both have low gear.

If you're on about pve then a tempest's heal will be enough to keep him alive, while you can buff his damage and attack speed too.

If you need a higher heal output for more intense pve or for pvp, then go radiant. Radiants have very limited offensive capabilities though, you won't be soloing fast
