I just had a hell of a day doing the Arch Bishop Job change quest. Took me a freaking 3 hours despite being the only one doing the quest at that time. I'd like to share my experiences and hopefully help future high priests to have abit of ease in the job change (High priests only.... I don't believe anyone will be dumb enough to change to AB directly from a priest)

The pilgrim and prayer part should not be any problem so i'll just skip it. Just find some one with a warp to Umbala to send u there. Saves alot of time.

Now on to the undead valkyrie part, which alot of people die trying. This test is full of freaking bugs. Some bugs work against u, but there is one that works for you, which alot of people don't realise :D

IMPORTANT: Remember to summon your valkyrie and re-equip your gear after u get sent to the test room!

In my first attempt while walking across the bridge, I am a FS build, no TU, no ME, so its a tough time for me. I came across zombies and nightmares. At first, I tried to kill everything in my path. Healing the zombies instantly kills them. The nightmare is however a pain in the ass. I had to holy light them like 7-8 times. Wasted alot of time there. Everytime i reach the 3rd or 4th Nightmare, I get booted out of the test room. Repeated like almost 10 times, get booted out every single time.

I then read a guide that said to ignore all the insignificant mobs and head straight to the valkyrie. To kill the valkyrie without TU or ME, simply make sure u have assumption on before you reach her, cast safety wall first, then head into the safety wall, and start to Ressurection bomb her. U should instantly kill her in 3-4 tries max.

Now here is the bug that works for u: By right if your valkyrie dies, you fail the test. However, I completed the test and passed it although both my first and 2nd valkyrie died!!!!!

So the trick is.... play rambo. Ignore your own valkyrie and all the small mob. Let her die for all I care. AGI up yourself and bash straight to the undead valkyrie to ress bomb her (for those who dun have ME and TU). Then head straight for the final NPC at the map to get yourself job changed!!!

PS: Apparently the undead valkyrie gives a WHOPPING amount of EXP. and I mean WHOPPING. Apparently I killed her so many times (always get kicked by the 2nd test and had to redo the first, untill i realised it doesnt matter if your own valkyrie died lol) untill my exp was 300 over % at 99. The moment I changed into AB and killed my first monster outside, I straight away leveled up to Base 101!!! ROFL. So if u have to kill the valkyrie again, dun feel so bad. Treat it as EXP in advance :o

One last thing. The odin temple map is very deadly. It is strongly recommended to get a party to escort u there. I had the help of my RK friend to escort me there.

Some other tips:
1) Right click on your Valk Mercenary and set it to standby.
2) The evil valkyrie is undead, easier to just heal bomb it instead of Res bomb since Res has a huge cooldown.

I noticed that no one mentioned about the bug that disconnects you near the end of the quest (after passing the Frus) and sends you straight to your save point (i.e, when you need to talk to Brynhilda for the final time.) I'm curious to know, for those who passes the AB test and could not trigger the speech by clicking on her, what did you do instead?

One thing I noticed is that you dont have to summon the Valkyrie Mercenary :waddle:

I just mailed it (Valkyrie Mercenary Scroll) to my friend :( and used Magnus on Undead Valkyrie

Did it one time :P though I would 've done it a couple of times more if it didnt work. :)

Putting it on standby mode is the best way to stop it from attacking monsters.
Just make sure you don't leave it behind when you turnaround the corners.

Goodluck :)

For future ABs, if you can't trigger the speech by clicking on her, walk back and forth until the aura lights up and the dialogue should start :o Other tips besides making your valkyrie passive is that after you get the 2nd valkyrie, you can let the valkyrie die and the test will still resume. Also remember that you don't try to kill the Frus (I actually tried... lol), you just run pass it.

I luckily didn't have that problem, but all I remember doing was walking back and forth for a bit. When I got to the final spot, she spoke once and nothing happened. I took a few steps back and walked near her again, which triggered the dialogue again followed by the job change.

I really hope they fix that bug though, because I felt so sorry for my friend who had to suffer being disconnected every time she got to the end, causing the whole ordeal to last for hours.

Yes, that would be me ~_~

And ironically, after sending a ticket to the GM, I went to take screenshots of the stupid Valkyrie NPC at the end, only to have her not disconnect me and change me to AB instead.

Anyway, that asides.. I can re-confirm most of the tips and advice given above. It doesn't matter if your first valkyrie mercenary dies. You don't have to even summon your second mercenary. Just go gung-ho solo, avoid the mobs and frus and make it to the center of the map. KE10 is your best friend if you're battle build like I was, but if you're FS/ME or have vit, just assumptio 5 yourself and ignore the monsters. Be very careful when moving towards the Valkyrie at the center of the map though, and if she doesn't talk to you, side step around her (preferably towards the ruin walls and not towards the open space next to her because you are almost guaranteed to get disconnected and booted off the server if you walk in that direction instead).

Also, final point... I just wanted to say that despite the disconnect bug being there since forever, the GMs still haven't done anything about it and it makes me sad that nothing has been done. I doubt I'm the only person who kept getting disconnected right at the end of the job change test :<
