I tried looking but couldnt find whether there is open world pvp in this game or not. Or are there pvp and pve servers to choose from? I dont want to bother if I can get pked.

There are currently 2 PVP maps Lip (I forget the wnhole name) night and Palus night. The day map is not pvp but the night map is. You have to be at least 53 or 54 to inter the Lip night map and the bosses that drop the orange gear are level 59. And the Palus night map you can get in at level 58.
So looks to me that you can reach level cap without pvp if you choose not to go to the night map. The dungeon gear is very good so if you are a pve player it will be ok.
But don't worry too much about PK. Come to Temple Knights side and join one of the larger guilds and they will protect you on the pvp maps if you decide to go to them.
I would like to invite you to talk to Aturus or Zelder on the TK side when you come in the game. One of them are almost always on. Zelder has been playing since bata and knows a lot about the game.
