So, I have this high mage which will become sorcerer in future. I've been wondering whether I should get frost diver as quick disable skill. I've already had stone curse lv.10, but it is not that awesome with cost of red gem and the fact that I must be super close range to use it. I plan to use my skill points on frost diver instead of firewall. Does it worth the skill points? Which mage's skills that must be leveled to be useful for my future sorc (I plan to make caster PvM sorc btw)?

Thanks for help guys. Pls help my noobish mage transcend into a pro. /heh

I have none... there are better spells for 3rd classes... but for trans/1st class, is a must. Better than firewall imo.

Firewall will outlive it's usefulness. So if one must pick, Frost Driver is the better option long term.

I didn't really care for frost diver because of its low base success and long cooldown. I ended up spending so much time using FD on the same mob, when I could have just kited with bolts and killed it outright.

If its base success % were raised ~20%, it would be a much better pick.

ive never used frost diver even once from 1-99 and 1-99 again. its useless unless your a sage and have no other options. SG 1 is much better because it pushes mob away from you, so even if it fails to freeze, youre still alive. plus diver is only for 1 monster whereas sg is for all. i only have sg at lvl 1 on my high wiz now because im getting jackfrost on my warlock so theres no point. plus the only things lvl 10 is good on is undead/unfreezable targets.

so yea:

jack frost > sg lvl 1 > anything > frost diver lol. like they said, firewall is a much better monster deterance

I don't think he's wiz/wl. If he were, frost nova is better than all of those options anyway for freezing. And I'd still keep SG10 for release, since it's still one of the highest damaging abilities, even as warlock.

For Sorc, blinding mist is really helpful, as is safety wall. They have less crowd control options than warlock, but frost diver has a low success lowered further by lv 100+ mobs' mdef, making you have to literally sit and cast it for a good 30 sec before it sticks.

oh derp! i totally forgot about frost nova XD. yea Frost nova freakin owns and sad part is, many many many mage class players dont even get it even though its one of the best survival spells in the game.

anyways, getting wiz is easy as hell. especially with the spotlight we have right now and the last one. i didnt even have time to ever need firewall/frost diver cuz my 1 shot bolting was leveling me fast as hell. i think it took me about 2 hours to become wiz with nonvip. although its also because ive played so many wiz classes now that leveling is easy for me, but i do remember back in the day playing my first mage and what a nightmare it was to level. I think alot of people are discouraged from playing the mage classes because it requires finesse to survive. They also kind of suck outside of TIs and dungeons due to their inability to take dmg or carry potions (witch hat helps so much with this). But damn their party play is fun as hell XD

Why would you ever use it over any other option mage/wiz/sage have to 100% disable (blind mist, jackfrost, frost nova, stormgust, sienna, etc), and in an aoe, and a faster aftercast?

Because its a ranged skill, unlike frost nova. Has better range than Jack Frost, is faster than casting SG and freezes the target unline Sienna...

I do like it, specially for 7v7 scrimmage.
