I've been trying to upgrade my equips today with enriched elus and been having no luck with them. Is there really much of a difference between them and HD?

The difference between using Enriched and HD ores from +7 to +9 would be roughly 30% * 30% = 9%. With HD ores, it's 20%*20%=4%.

The difference of 5% here imo, is quite large. Especially considering you'll most likely degrade in refinement levels. And from +5 to +7, the difference between the two are even more significant (90% vs 60% and 60% vs 40%)

+5 to +7 has the same requirement from both Mighty and Enriched Hammer. Are you saying that using Safe to 7 with Enriched is significantly better than using it with Mighty?

You can't use enriched for under +7, even coupled with a cert.

You can't use HD ores or Enriched ores along with safe Certs to +7 your equipment. You can only use safe Certs with normal oris/Elus. So the rate while using safe Certs is always going to be the same if you want to +7 safetly.
Using enriched ores without safe Certs has a much higher chance to succeed, but still breaks the equipment if it fails.

The only way to use HD ores or enriched ores to safetly refine equipment from +5 to +7 is to already have the equipment at +7 before you talk to either enriched/mighty hammer and having your equipment degraded.

So I can go to Suhnbi and have a 90% chance as opposed to going to Mighty/Enriched hammer with regular elu and Safe to 7 with a lower rate?

If you're an upgrade maniac, you'll realize how unlucky 90% can be.... lol

For anything that's more expensive than a cert (more or less, see azzy's thread for more detail and math), the standard method is to use safe certs up to +7, then wait for an enriched hammer event to get to +9. If you need to +10, do it with HD (certs tend to be way more costly at the current market) while an enriched hammer event is around.

If you want the exact numbers, again, see azzy's thread which I linked above.

HD upgrading is a money pit in which the depths know no bounds.
