After the 4/9/2013 maintenance I've been experiencing long wait periods from the game program when I change maps. It's the usual little white box that says "Please wait..." right before the game starts loading the map, and then a black screen for around 6-8 whole seconds, *then* I see a loading screen. I've never had a problem with loading times or lag, even in eden; it's always been almost instant - a couple seconds for it to load character sprites and npc sprites so I can play smoothly. These black screen/pause periods also happen when I close the game so I'm not sure if it's my computer or my internet connection or if the server is just under heavy load. I also noticed that since the maintenance, windows asks my permission to run RO, because it sees it as an unidentified program. It never did this before, it would always just allow the game to run without asking me if I was absolutely sure I trust the program, could this be the problem? The pause time between loading screens takes me out of the game for longer than I'm ok with, when loading used to only take a few seconds, now takes over 10 seconds for a simple map transition. Anyone else experiencing this? Any help would be really appreciated.

Looks similar to my problem.

Basically once I choose a character the loading period is longer than the usual there is also the black screen that stays longer than before. During this I can't move my mouse till the character is loaded. Also happens while moving between zones. The odd thing is that the loading lag only occurs on certain characters specially the ones located on slot 9 and above.

My laptops experience 0 loading lag on the said characters. Both have different spec and different operating systems.

Curious, what is your operating system?

I'm getting lag on my 2nd character slot, but i haven't tried the others, and I'm running Windows Vista 32 bit.

Uninstalled and reinstalled RO, can't be my game files.

Yeah i get that with all character loading/map loading times, atm seems all my characters are having the same lag.
