It doesn't seem like there are going to be too many Artisans and I'm curious as to why. Won't the Runes they make be fairly important? I understand why there will be more Chefs and Alchemists (because the items they make will be used in far greater quantity) but this still feels like an important role.

Any thoughts?

From what I saw on Sea, Artisans and Blacksmiths were the most common. The average, uninformed, new player probably wants to be able to craft their own equipment in case they can't get better.

There is always at least some market for non-WIS runes. And then runes enhanced by the Kafra Shop earn much higher prices. But since there are so many people with their own Artisans, or who know Artisans, the circulation in the market is smaller than would be expected.

I sold just 1 stack of runes on my Artisan so there's a market, it's just tiny.

But maybe that'll change with time, who knows.
