Would it be op if assassin off hand weap could equip both shield card and weap?

Title Discuss.

I was thinking more in the line that main weap is dmg item(which it is) and off hand for more defense and minor offense capability.Offhand reduc limit would be a interesting topic seeing as a dual dagger build would be pretty squishy trying to get good attack speed and dmg.

you didn't think this through very well lol

Obviously since it can have both weap and shield cards some kind of limit should be placed.

I think kro could of made it interesting.

what about just being able to equip a shield and a dagger on the offhand with a huge aspd penalty

 

and an additional sheild+LH mastery skill to restore lost damage

The point of dual wielding and two-handed weapons is that you sacrifice the shield for stronger offense. 

 

In order to maintain game balance, you'd have to restrict it so much that it wouldn't be interesting anymore.

 

A better approach would be to enhance some of the daggers that are described as being for defense to add more damage reduction - for example, cowardice blade currently gives 5 def. I think it could be increased to 50-75 def without being unbalanced, especially in light of how crappy the dagger is in general.

Hmm that sounds better and less complicated(probably why my idea isnt in)but then we get into feel of a character type area where something like a assassin(portrayed image) should not have a shield as they one shot or have no need for defense.I feel gx should have a more reliable "defense" mechanisim

I agree. Pre-renewal it was about as good as wearing a non-upgraded shield, DEF-wise (a little better, actually. About as good as a +3 buckler). Since most shields are 45~55 DEF it would make sense to change cowardice to +50 DEF.

I hear rebelion has some kind of ability where while they attack if you press it you can add extra hits(max two per sec?). What would you think about something similar but dodge related?

You asked if it would be OP... I replied.  You never said anything about limits.

 

I just don't see the point. You want the extra offense without sacrificing defense... that makes no sense. Just as 2hand weapons don't receive shield bonus's, why should double daggers? It would make DD Gx OP. EDP DD with extra defense?

In all honesty, the main gauche should have a weapon break / parry effect since that was the purpose of the blade. Musketeers caught blades with it, twist and breaks the blade of their opponent. 

 

Parry daggers with slots?

Dual wield shield for RG. Valk shield on right hand. Immune for left hand.

 

 

Didn't they say RG's were going to get 2 handed shields, back before renewal skills got finalized?

Yet in real life the Main Gauche proved to not be terribly useful and fell out of favor before long-
